Moon Jae-in credits Trump for North-South talks

| January 10, 2018

South Korean President Moon Jae-in credits President Trumo with the upcoming talks between the North and South Koreas designed to ease relations between the two countries, according to CNN.

Moon praised Trump personally, saying he “made a huge contribution to make inter-Korean talks happen (and) I’d like to express my gratitude.”

His assessment of Trump’s contribution to the diplomatic breakthrough contrasted with the view from Pyongyang, from where the state-run Rodong Sinmun newspaper on Monday criticized Trump for “boasting of ‘diplomatic success,'” although it didn’t mention the negotiations.

North Korean state news agency KCNA made its first direct mention of the talks after they wrapped up Tuesday, saying they took place “amid great expectations and interests of all the fellow countrymen and people at home and abroad.”

Odd how previous US presidents paid tribute to North Korea to get them to behave themselves, yet the first head-of-State to stand up to the Norks’ bullying actually get some semblance of results.

Gee whiz, what a surprise and the TARDOs on the left still won’t give President Trump the credit for making it happen, they’re still fawning all over the other administrations that coddled and enabled the Norkies to make nukes.

LC

I’m considered ‘Left’ here, and I strongly disagree – fawn over previous administrations? Not at all. I have some understanding of why they all passed the buck on North Korea, though I temper that with a lot of scorn as well. And you’re right, between Clinton and President Trump, I think the latter is more well-suited to actually making progress on this front. Not because I think he’s a genius, mind you, but because his complete and utter lack of a cohesive strategy means they North Koreans don’t know what to make of him. With Clinton, they’d likely have gotten another harshly worded letter and no action.

That said, I’m not sure I give President Trump credit for ‘making’ it happen in any direct sense – Moon Jae-in of course says that. World leaders have learned it’s best to praise President Trump. South Korea needs us, desperately, if the shit hits the fan. If I were President of South Korea and President Trump came in the room, sneezed and left, I’d still say he was ‘instrumental’ in making things happen – because it’s in my best interest. That’s diplomacy in action.

It never ceases to amaze me the lengths to which some folks will go, to avoid the obvious.

Trump figured out how to put Kim III off his usual game.

Just because you cannot see the strategy, does not render it “incoherent”.

LC

And just because you see a strategy doesn’t mean it’s real – one need only look at the countless people who see ghosts, angels, UFOs, lizard-people, etc., to understand that. His unpredictability is an asset here, but it doesn’t strike me as it’s an intentional plan. Rather, it’s the lack of one.

Same net effect for this, wholly different ballgame for virtually other aspects of this Presidency.

Don’t know about all the stuff you mentioned.

We see Trump getting things done. We also see the same old “republican equals lucky dummy” stuff that gets periodically recycled.

Incoherent dummies do not function successfully in new York real estate.

Did you see the immigration meeting footage? He played them like fiddles.

Hint: he does not -actually- care that you and others think him incapable. He is -exploiting- it. But understanding that little tidbit would require a rather large serving of Crow to be consumed. He knows that too.

Played. Like fiddles. And they rosin the bow for him to do it.

Consider Scott Adams take on Trump. (And his reasons)

LC

You and I are going to just have to agree to disagree about this – to me, explaining this as him ‘playing’ the media is like claiming his talk of ‘F-52s’ today was totally intentional to scare China into thinking we have secret aircraft way ahead of the F-35s we sold them, as opposed to a gaffe. Not a big one, mind you, and everyone makes them -remember Obama saying 57 states? I do!- but only now are we getting crazy ‘he’s on a totally different level and just out-thinking everyone!’ reasoning to explain such things.

And I did see the immigration footage – who was he playing and how? And incoherent dummies can be wildly successful – look at that Logan Paul idiot. He’s got millions. The guy who sold ‘Instagram’ has more money than President Trump – is he thus smarter? And if the President is such a genius, how did he have so many bankruptcies early on? Or is that part of his genius too?

Look, I don’t think he’s an absolute moron when it comes to business – he knows enough, obviously, to understand the value of an image. But genius is rarely universal – a brilliant physicist is probably not a brilliant actor. A great nurse probably isn’t going to be equally great at being a construction worker. And a capable businessman might not be the most capable President.

Personally, I’m inclined to think he didn’t really want the job of President… he just wanted more of that image, to help his business empire. Again, playing to his strengths.

Trump beat the -Clintons- at -Politics-.

That certainly speaks to a shrewd strategist with a strong understanding of the game, and one who is a -very- quick learner.

Novice at international politics? Sure. (but does navigating international real estate count?)

But look at the trend. Look at what he actually does, not what he says.

Any decent stage magician keeps the audience distracted.

Have you read Sun Tzu lately?

“Trump beat the -Clintons- at -Politics-.”

President Trump spent his adult life as a successful Businessman before getting elected POTUS as well, let’s not forget that the Clintons spent their entire adult lives in politics and President Trump came right in and mopped the floor with their scalps.

LC

I’m not sure that’s an amazing accomplishment – Clinton and Trump were, literally, the two most divisive people in America. Bill Clinton may have been a political genius back in his day, but Clinton was a woefully terrible candidate. President Trump won because people are sick of politics as usual, not because people swarmed to him because he’s a .. ahem.. stable genius. It also seems slightly disingenuous to say he mopped the floor with anyone while losing the popular vote.

Yes, he won an election. An election that, if held on any other day, could’ve swung the other way. That’s like saying if some guy goes to a casino, plays Blackjack once and beats the house, he ‘mopped the floor’ with the scalps of those odds makers! No, not really.

I’m not too worried.. I don’t think President Trump is the worst calamity to befall us as a country. In fact, I see a lot of good coming from it. I just think he’s a bit of a moron, and I actually think you’ll see that too in time.

USMC Steve

That may well be LC, but just because you DON’T see any strategy doesn’t mean there isn’t one either.

Just be honest about yourself, you don’t like Trump or anything he does, so any possible accomplishments bother you, and so you minimalize it and marginalize it.

The South Koreans didn’t get the Norks to the table, the US under Trump did.

LC

Absolutely correct – but I think there’s plenty more objective evidence for a lack of a cohesive plan than there is evidence for one.

As for honesty, I’m actually pretty middle of the road – I have a hard time deciding who I hated more, Clinton or Trump, as they’re both, in my mind, fools who just spout what they think people want to hear, and worry more about image than results. It’s not his accomplishments that bother me – I think it’d be fantastic if he can disarm NK, and as I said above, I think he (and his capable National Security team) are better suited to that than Clinton would’ve been. And when he started his Presidency, I was a lot more optimistic – it’s just that, over time, he’s proven himself to be a fool of epic proportions.

If he does something good, I’ll absolutely give him credit, as I’ve done in the past. If he can’t get past his ego and image and continues to be an idiot, I’ll call him out on that, too. No politics, just the net effect of his actions.

President Trump could invent a cure for all cancers and the TARDOs on the left would screech that either the injections stung or the pills tasted bad.

Casey

Teh Donald outperformed Kim when it came to street theater. He bragged bigger, louder, and made the other guy back down first.

It’s a variation of the competing struts we see at the India/Pakistan border. Trump out-strutted his opponent.

LC

No disagreement there, and that’s a good net effect. It also implies Kim might be a rational actor after all, too. I have zero problems with the results, just with the possible implication that they were out-crazied because we’re now the crazy ones.

That works out well in this situation, but less well in day to day stuff.

All bubba the perverted pedophile did was hand over fists full of cash to the NORKS!

Roger in Republic

I have found that giving a bully your lunch money only insures that the bully will come back the next day for a payoff. On the other hand, punching the bully in the nose on the first day might dissuade him from making another demand. There might be a fight, but bullies are usually cowards who won’t fight for what is not theirs. The Kim’s have always been paper tigers, unfortunately they are backed up by a real tiger. Sixty years of appeasement has given the paper tiger nuclear weapons. Nice work Democrats.

That loud explosion you heard was the collective talking heads and editorial staff at CNN, MSNBC, CBS, ABC, the NYT and WAPO exploding.

I’m sure the TARDOs in the mainstream mess media are banging their heads on things trying to figure out how they’re going to either spin, censor or bury this.

UpNorth

They’ll bury it, that’s what they do. If they don’t report something, it never happened. The examples of that are numerous.

A Proud Infidel®™

You’re absolutely right.
