India and Pakistan trade cross-border small arms fire
The Associated Press reports that the two nuclear powers, India and Pakistan, have been shooting at each other with small arms fire recently.
Three Pakistani soldiers have been killed by Indian fire across the Line of Control in the disputed Kashmir region, Pakistani officials said Tuesday.
A military statement said the “unprovoked cease-fire violation” took place Monday in Rawalakot in the Pakistan-controlled part of Kashmir. It came two days after India’s army said four of its soldiers had been killed by Pakistani fire along the de facto border between the South Asian rivals.
In the latest shooting, the Indian military said that its soldiers targeted Pakistani posts after the Pakistani side had targeted their positions. The Indian troops did not suffer any casualties, officials said.
There has been a ceasefire in force since 2003, but over 200 rebels, 75 Indian soldiers and police, and at least 40 civilians have died in the violence this year. That’s some ceasefire.
Pakistan also has a convicted Indian spy on death row according to Reuters. The World Court has ordered Pakistan to delay his execution at the urging of India.

Sources said that Indian action was necessitated as some suspicious activity was noticed at forward Pakistani posts along the Line of Control opposite Poonch late last evening. Some Pakistani posts appeared to have been damaged as thick smoke billowed from across the border.
The Pakistan’s Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) confirmed killing of three Pakistani soldiers in firing from Indian side. On Sunday, Indian army troops in Nowshera had killed a Pakistani sniper opposite Rajouri’s Nowshera sector when, according to sources, he was taking a position to fire at the Indian side.
I guess we’re lucky that Indian military doctrine doesn’t call for nuclear weapons to take out snipers at this point in time.

It’s all about call centers.
The Call Center wars started at the end of 2017 with a skirmish between India and Pakistan over who would get the new AT&T customer service contract. It quickly spiraled after that.
And no one is surprised.
It’s not like they have ever had harsh words before. Maybe if they just gave the Muslim population its own piece of ground to call home, peace would reign in the region.
Or, better, still, just let the Muslims rule the whole thing, because we know there was no persecution of Hindus by the Mughal Empire…everything was fine and dandy until the British just made Muslims hate Hindus as part of a sinister “divide and rule” strategy. I know this because Hollywood tells me so.
And did any terrorist sneak into India while this was going on or did they all cross last week?
Gee whiz, why is this news? India and Pakistan have been sniping at each other decades now. They both have nukes of their own, aimed at each other. Pakistan used to be part of the British Raj part of India, as was Bangla Desh to the east.
At least, it’s just at the border for now.

I saw something about Pakistan having the world’s fastest growing population. From 2016 to 2017 their pop total increased a staggering 9% from 193M to 210M (2nd place is nowhere even remotely close). Practice some damn BC. Poverty is already pretty ridiculous. How the hell is this even sustainable for a country w/ the 40th largest economy that is smaller than Colombia or the Phillipines, and only slightly bigger than Venezuela? I guess just export the excess undesirables through chain migration to Europe & N. America.

A long-held dream… a ground war in Asia between India, China, and neighbors using knives and swords. Think of it as WW population control… could unload half the world’s population in weeks.
I was really surprised to learn that the Indian border patrol upgraded from M1 carbines to the full auto version of the Beretta CX4 storm rifle in 9mm.
The semi auto version is is my go to fun gun for weekend plinking, it is compact, accurate and you get quite a bit of extra umph from the 16′ barrel. i have never had a failure to fire or feed, it takes 92f mags so i had a crap ton laying around the house and i have even picked up rounds off the ground, chambered them and unless it was a bad primer it went bang.
I bet the FA version is a hoot to shoot and i would not want to be on the receiving end
Make fun of the demonstrations all you want, but I have a sneaking suspicion they help alleviate tension between the two countries.
I expect Pakistan relies on brave shows more than India since the latter has a commanding lead over their neighbor when it comes to shooting wars. Probably due to Indian soldiers making British training & standards part of their military culture.
