Friday morning feel good stories
From San Antonio, Texas;
According to police, an as-of-yet unidentified man walked into Popeye’s and approached the father’s family to attempt to rob them around 8:30 p.m, ABC13 reported.
The altercation took place at the 800 block of Southeast Military Drive in San Antonio, Texas.
Then the robber pointed his gun at the father’s children, according to ABC affiliate KVUE.
It was at that point that the father—who is also not named as of writing—pulled out his own gun and shot the robber in the middle of the restaurant’s dining area.
Police told ABC13 that the father is a licensed carrier of firearms. Authorities said he will not be facing any charges and that the father’s actions prevented the loss of several lives.

Well then…..Next!
Here, take my wallet.
Blam!
“You want fries with that?”
At least we have the precise location of the shooting – the middle of the restaurant’s dining area.
Man, things are getting tough for these wise guys, aren’t they? You can’t even go hold people up at Popeye’s with them fighting back. What’s next? Rousting robbers at McDonald’s?
Yeah, you want fries with that, Stupid?
I like William Shatner’s response to robbery:
That dirty rice will do strange things to a man.
Getting desperate? Can’t wait for the potential victims to come outside AFTER dinner? Ya haz to come INSIDE? Tsk.
Hey, they’re having snow down there in Texas! Be a little understanding! The criminal could have gotten pneumonia waiting for those people to exit the AO.
Tell me again about global warming – snow in Hawaii and Texas in the same few days?
We’ve had a big year – Harvey, the Astros winning, and a record snow. I think a little break before the next Harvey would be appreciated. It’s funny, though – whenever we have a monster rainfall we always get near no rain for a couple of months afterwards. The snow is the capper to the first wet week since Harvey in August.
It was really a quite enchanting drive in today. Something we Texicans may enjoy more because it is so rare here now.
My mother-in-law, who grew up in the Conroe area in the 1920’s-30’s, remembered regular snows every winter that would stay on the ground for days. It may be that the weather cycle is returning to what it was 100 years ago.
Dad must spend a lot of time on the range to be able to draw and DRT the bad guy while he’s pointing a gun at the kids. Obviously Dad had one in the tube ready for firing.
Great skill and/or luck.
I’ll take “Skill” for $500, Alex.
Really – if you’re gonna point a gun at a Texans children, you are asking for a quick one-way trip to Hell – and you’ll get it.
I stopped at a Popeye’s just off the University of Houston campus after repairing a few computers. The counter had bullet proof glass like I was at a bank. I decided to take my food to go.
Obviously the dad waited until the robbers focus was away from him. Never draw on a drawn gun. Wait for them to look away. Shield the draw with your body so they can’t see it and aim for the heart.
Going anywhere near the University of Houston campus calls for a strong Condition Yellow bordering on Condition Orange.
That area is long known for being home to a lot of ne’er-do-wells.
Update:
http://www.foxnews.com/us/2017/12/08/texas-father-shoots-kills-popeyes-robbery-suspect-who-threatened-family-police-say.html
“A father eating at a Popeye’s restaurant — and carrying his licensed handgun — shot a would-be robber dead Wednesday after the thief threatened the man’s family at gunpoint and demanded the dad’s belongings.”
Hasta la bye-bye.
“Authorities said two more members of Molina’s family came out of a restroom amid the commotion and the suspect pointed his gun at them.
Molina then whipped out his gun and shot Herrera several times, killing him.”
That makes more sense, actually. Herrera was startled by the appearance of folks from the restroom, why he pointed his gun at them. Molina saw a threat to his family, had been forgotten/ignored/discounted by Herrera, and took out the trash.
Good job by Mr. Herrera.
I try to stay to the left of bang when I go into public places and not look too obvious.
