Monday morning feel good stories

From Berlin, Wisconsin;

A homeowner in central Wisconsin fired gunshots at an intruder in his house Saturday evening, according to the Berlin Police Department.

A man entered a residence in the 100 block of W. Liberty St. in Berlin, located in Green Lake County, about 7:15 p.m. Saturday, authorities said in a news release.

The homeowner fired shots at him during an encounter and the man fled, possibly in a light blue minivan, the release stated.

From Chicago, Illinois;

A 23-year-old man was walking into his home about 1:20 a.m. when a 20-year-old walked up behind him in the 500 block of East 38th and pulled out what appeared to be a gun while he announced a robbery, according to Chicago Police.

The older man took out his own legally-owned handgun and fired at the robber, police said. The younger man was shot in the abdomen and both legs.

He was taken to Stroger Hospital, where his condition stabilized, according to police.

The robber’s gun turned out to be a pellet gun, police said.

From Phoenix, Arizona;

Police said the man injured the bus driver with the knife and stabbed a passenger. The driver stopped the bus west of the Interstate 17 underpass, and the driver and other passengers fled, police said.

Police said the man then was trying to get away in other motorists’ vehicles when an off-duty Phoenix police sergeant saw him.

The sergeant, a 32-year-old man who has worked as an officer for 10 years, got out his handgun, identified himself as police and gave commands to the man, police said. The sergeant was in his personal vehicle and was out of uniform, police said.

Lewis said the man didn’t follow the sergeant’s commands and walked toward the officer. That was when the officer shot and killed the man, police said.

Responding officers attempted CPR on the man, but he was pronounced dead at the scene, Lewis said.

The stabbing victims were taken to a hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

UpNorth sends a link from Belleville, Illinois;

The 16-year-old, Quantez Jones (pictured left), has been charged with first-degree murder and aggravated discharge of a firearm, Belleville Police Capt. Matt Eiskant and St. Clair County State’s Attorney Brendan Kelly announced at a news conference Friday.

Deveon Hunt (pictured right) was shot and killed a little after 10 p.m. Sunday evening in an alley behind West Main Street in Belleville. Police were nearby when the shots rang out. As a result, they responded quickly to multiple 911 calls of gunfire in the area, reported Belleville News-Democrat. Consequently, they arrived on scene within a minute, Eiskant said earlier this week.

Eiskant said the suspect and Hunt were friends, and were walking in the alley behind the 7600 block of West Main after 10 p.m. Sunday. However, the two decided to fire upon a home there, he said.

“Our victim and suspect were walking down the alley, walked up on a house unknown to them, and committed a crime,” Eiskant said, “by firing multiple rounds into the home. The home was occupied at the time, but no one inside was injured.”

The teens were “staggered in their stances,” Eiskant said; with Hunt somewhat in front of the suspect.

“And the suspect, Quantez Jones, struck the victim, Deveon Hunt, with a round of ammunition resulting in his death,” Eiskant said.

With those last two – Quantez and Deveon – did I miss something? They shot up a house and then shot each other?

Definitely not impervious to bullets.

Aysel

apparently Quantez redlined Deveon, that’s how Deveon was killed by his “friend”

“Responding officers attempted CPR on the man, but he was pronounced dead at the scene, Lewis said.”

Ummm. . . CPR on a gunshot patient? That would not be my first thought (robber or not). Do some of these “journalists” think that CPR encompasses all manner of attempts at life-saving measures?

Graybeard

LEOs are there to save lives whenever possible – even of the scumbags.

Every LEO I know would do the same. There is always the chance that the perp learns his lesson and becomes a productive member of society.

TWO chances for most of these warts on the ass of humanity…..”SLIM AND NONE”

Actually, I was thinking more of the medical aspect of doing CPR on a GSW victim. Maybe patch the holes first?
