Motivational Time with Ted

| September 20, 2017

With all the posers and petticoat progressives we have to deal with around here, I thought a little quality time with a true Patriot might be in order.  Relax, sit back and enjoy a few moments with another American.    Just a free public service we offer here at TAH.   Oh,  the ending is Epic.

Proud to be an American

Outstanding!

Jonn Lilyea

Not a fan of draft dodgers and sunshine patriots.

roger that

Dave Hardin

Always the kill joy…you need some Great White Buffalo.

A Proud Infidel®™

I’ll settle for some White Lightning instead!

“Now ya’ see this here guitar right here, now do you see it? …This guitar right here is guaranteed to blow the balls off a charging rhino at sixty paces it is. That’s my baby… This guitar definitely refuses to play sweet shit. It just refuses…”

These are the times that try men’s souls: The summer soldier and the sunshine patriot will, in this crisis, shrink from the service of his country; but he that stands it now, deserves the love and thanks of man and woman.
T. Paine, circa 1777

Yup+100.

Ted pooped his pants during the physical to get out of the draft.

Dave Hardin

LOL, probably not. Its an old story he told a High Times reporter. He took a school deferment and later failed his physical.

Its been a point of controversy for decades, so has him being a pedophile.

…unless someone on the boards here actually has first hand info

Dave Hardin

Yep, pretty much covers the issue. Ted said all kinds of things over the years. I doubt he shit in his pants, did meth, and didn’t eat for a week. The interview with the High Times reporter was Ted fucking with a stoned hippie and selling records at the time.

My money is on him being under weight and having one testicle. All the records that would explain what happened are long gone.

We played his music in Beirut…that I know to be a fact. He is doing a trip to Oki and Japan to put on shows for those stationed over seas…good on him.

Yep, pretty much covers the issue. Ted said all kinds of things over the years. I doubt he shit in his pants, did meth, and didn’t eat for a week. The interview with the High Times reporter was Ted fucking with a stoned hippie and selling records at the time.

Ted told a story that was tailored to appeal to a specific audience (druggies and hippies who read “High Times”) back then.

Now that he’s trying to appeal to a different audience (right-wingers, gun owners, and veterans) he’s telling a different story.

If he was willing to lie in order to please his audience in 1979, is there any reason to think he’s not willing to do so now?

My guess is that as with most things, the truth lies in the mushy middle. Did he do all the things he said he did in the High Times article to avoid getting drafted? Maybe not.

But there were lots of guys back then who had lots of ways of making themselves less likely to get called up (“student deferments” by men who weren’t actual students, “heart murmurs” diagnosed by a “friendly” doctor, “family hardships” that were embellished or fabricated out of whole cloth, etc) and given his own statements over the years it seems reasonable to conclude that he would have used any “legal” method at his disposal to avoid the draft, just like so many of his peers did.

It’s a shame he didn’t just man up like P.J. O’Rourke and admit that, like so many others of his generation, he did everything he could to avoid the draft, and that he regrets it now. He could make his apologies for being a stupid kid and move on. I don’t think it would have hurt his “cred” with his intended audience if he had just done that.

Dave Hardin

Ole Ted didn’t actually do anything that millions of others didn’t do back in those days.

I can promise you that I drank and did more drugs during my first enlistment than Ted ever thought about doing. I was not alone, I know who you are out there. Bong water is so much more than just a breakfast drink.

I served willingly so people like Ted didn’t have to. Personally, I wish a few that did serve stayed the fuck home.

I doubt Ted is hurting for money these days…seems like he is just wanting to go Rock Marines.

I doubt any Marine there will give care if he shits in his pants while he plays.

Martinjmpr

It’s not what he did “back then” that I find objectionable. As you pointed out (and as I said below), he only did what many men in his situation did back then, and which many parents, teachers, judges, doctors and other community leaders openly supported or even assisted in.

What I object to regarding Nugent are his lame attempts to whitewash it NOW and to re-make himself into a badass “patriot” tough guy.

Dave Hardin

He evolved or devolved. Not sure which.

I get where you are coming from and actually expected a lot more blow back from the post. People are getting soft around here.

What he is doing now is putting on shows for Marines, killing things with guns for the fun of it and wakes up everyday with a hot chick beside him. Whats not to like?

Where is the forgiveness and love for your fellow man?

He got something against fat Korean men…I like cross eyed strippers…to each their own bro.

Veritas Omnia Vincit

Indeed my first reaction to anything from Nugent…mediocre musician and shit bag draft dodger…

But that’s just me…he dodged service when he had the chance to serve and now he talks shit about what a great fucking soldier he’d have made…smells like a load of shit to me. But I realize I am rapidly becoming one of Heinlein’s surly curmudgeons in my old age.

Martinjmpr

As I said above, I have more respect for those who honestly admit their youthful stupidity than those who try to lie and bluster out of it.

We’re now on our 2nd president who rode a draft deferment to avoid service during the war, so I think it’s pretty clear that for most Americans this is a non-issue. There’s no reason for Nugent to lie or to make up a ridiculous story that casts him as a wannabe hero who’s military ambitions were tragically cut short by a medical condition.

The draft ended when I was 11 years old, and the NVA occupied Saigon when I was 13, so I never had to face the prospect of getting drafted or sent to war.

If I am 100% honest with myself I can’t say for sure that I wouldn’t have done everything I could have to avoid getting called up. Because, let’s face it, most of us are pretty stupid when we’re that age. I sure as hell was.

I enlisted at 18 but it wasn’t because I was a super-patriot who loved America and wanted to kill commies. Like many of us here, I’m sure, I was just a dumb kid from the ‘burbs looking for something more exciting and adventurous than just going to State U and then getting a white collar job and a house in the same suburbs I grew up in.

W2

Not that you need me agreeing with you Jonn, but amen to ted being a draft dodger / sunshine patriot. Had the chance to pick up a weapon and stand a watch, decided otherwise.

A Proud Infidel®™

Well done and I also love the expression on President Trump’s face in that pic, it’s like he’s saying “EAT THIS, SNOWFLAKES!”.

CWORet

Yea, that’s definitely a two-middle-fingers-in-the-air grin if I ever saw one.

Sgt Fon

“Chesty Puller with a Guitar”

thank you for this Dave, this is the most motivated i have been in a long time!

” Maybe for an Encore, we could go to North Korea and Kill a Fat Guy”

Yef

Yeah.

There is only one fat guy in North Korea. It shouldn’t be that hard to identify.

IDC SARC

I knew Okinawa rocks…now it’s official.

bg2

Love, love! Tough guys and beautiful women. What’s not to like?

Tallywhagger

“…and kill a fat guy”! YES.

He’s so funny 🙂

jonp

why is Ted fat shaming? I’m triggered :]

jonp

Damn Ted! When did we get old?

FuzeVT

Crap! I left Okinawa too early. If I had just executed an IPCOT in 2015 I could have still been there for the show.

I did get to see John Michael Montgomery and Aaron Tippin. Arron Tippin was awesome. Talk about high energy – that guy was awesome. Looks much better without the moustache and mullet.

Veritas Omnia Vincit

My wife will be real jealous about you seeing JMM…one of her favorites, mine too as he does have that really good country voice going for him.

streetsweeper

Regardless of what-ever he did or didn’t do to stay out of the draft, I do know he didn’t go around burning the flag, badmouthing this country or our serving troops and veterans.

Joe

If there’s a bigger piece of human s**t then Ted Nugent, I’m can’t think of it.

Jonn Lilyea

He’s a draft dodger, just like you, Joe.

Joe

Draft dodger? Um, no. Presumptuous jerk.

Jonn Lilyea

Um, yes.

Joe

How simple can I make it for you? You sir are a liar.

Joe

I won’t wait for an apology. I know dirtbags like Jonn who are incapable of admitting when they are wrong.

Jonn Lilyea

Draft dodgers shouldn’t throw stones from inside their glass houses.

Ex-PH2

Send your info off to Admin, Joey, if you want to prove that you were not a draft dodger. Otherwise, just shut up.

Joe

Um, there is no “info”.

Dave Hardin

I don’t think Jonn likes you Joe. Just because you have an emotional disability is no reason for him to treat you like that.

Draft dodgers have feelings too. I am sure you have some redeeming quality about you Joe. Jonn just gets pissy because he doesnt understand the 93% of this country that believe its not worth defending, or at least not worth them having to defend it.

Take the high road bro, when Jonn goes low…you go high. We are better together.

The Other Whitey

Joe’s redeeming quality? He reputedly lacks a gag reflex.

Joe

It comes in handy when reading some of the articles and posts on this site.

The Other Whitey

You mean it makes you really popular at truck stops.

Are you taking a break from your normal afternoon jacking off to Stormfront?

A Proud Infidel®™

He’s just taking a break from blowing winos behind bus stops all day long.
