Sunday morning feel good stories

| September 10, 2017

From Richland County, South Carolina;

The Richland County Sheriff’s Department says that around noon, Melvin Strong, 19, and a 16-year-old knocked on the burglary victim’s door. The victim called 911, saying he didn’t recognize the suspects. When he hung up, the two suspects kicked in the victim’s front door.

Armed with a knife, the victim stabbed the 16-year-old suspect in the upper body. He was driven to Palmetto Health Richland Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Strong is charged with second-degree burglary and malicious injury to real property.

From Chicago, Illinois;

A 23-year-old man was wounded Saturday morning when the person he was trying to rob stole his gun from him and shot him in the South Side Gresham neighborhood.

The turn of events happened about 6:15 a.m. when he walked up to a female and demanded her things in the 8000 block of South Ashland, according to Chicago Police.

She wrestled the gun away from him and shot him in the hand, police said. He ran away but was soon caught by officers.

From Mount Auburn, Ohio;

Cincinnati Police said on Aug. 30, three men attempted to rob the victim on the 100 block of E. McMillan Street. One suspect, 20-year-old Aaron Abernathy, had a handgun that fell out of his coat pocket during a struggle with the victim.

The victim then picked up the handgun and shot 21-year-old Timothy Andrew in the neck.

Abernathy and Andrew were arrested and both were charged with aggravated robbery. Timothy’s brother, 20-year-old Tione Andrew, was also arrested and charged with aggravated robbery.

From Murfreesboro, Tennessee;

Police say two men were seen stealing from Victoria’s Secret by a private citizen who was armed with a handgun.

That individual reportedly confronted the burglary suspects outside of the store.

According to police, those suspects jumped in to a get-a-way car that was driven by a female accomplice.

As they fled the parking lot, police say the individual who had confronted the suspects, shot one round at the car.

Two other vehicles in the parking lot were hit by the suspect’s car as it left the lot.

It was not known if the vehicle or anyone inside it was struck by the bullet.

“two men were seen stealing from Victoria’s Secret”
They probably changed into the stolen clothes in the mens room and walked out wearing them.
A tried and true shoplifting scheme gone awry.

The perp in Chicago should have a fun time explaining his screw up in the slammer.

Why does a person shoot a “round” at a car when the crime is over and has a good chance of missing and hitting a by stander. Revoke his permit

Glad to see some resistance to crime in the South Side. The Gresham lady must be getting some self-defense training.

Men stealing from Victoria’s Secret? Victoria’s Secret sells women’s underwear. Either they were going to hawk this stuff online or they’re cross-dressers going to a squirrel cage get-together.

I agree with Jeff lph3
The Tennessee shoot was a bad shoot
While I like to see concerned citizens confront criminals, we are talking about property that was not his and was insured
Non violent criminals not displaying weapons and fleeing
To shoot at fleeing suspects, who are not threatening anyone is a very bad idea
Even if you hit them and not a bystander, the shoot is not justified
I don’t know about Tennessee, but here in Florida you would be charged as no one was in danger of death when you discharged your firearm
In the Chicago case, the gun was not ” stolen” from the criminal
The woman wrested or grabbed or even took the gun and shot the evildoer with his own weapon
In Ohio the victim also shot a miscreant with his own weapon
I am glad to see that criminals never carry empty chamber or with safeties on
That would make it harder for the citizens to shoot them them with their own guns!

“A 23-year-old man was wounded Saturday morning when the person he was trying to rob stole his gun from him…”

Someone got his victim and prep mixed up. So glad there are layers and layers of editors and fact checkers in the news media….
