5 missing from Army helicopter

| August 16, 2017

David and Mick sends links to the news that 5 soldiers are missing after an Army helicopter went down during an exercise near Hawaii. Two Blackhawk crews were conducting night training when one helicopter crew lost sight of the other bird;

Responding teams reported spotting a debris field about 2 miles (3 kilometers) west of Kaena Point, Oahu, shortly before 11:30 p.m., the release said.

An airplane, two helicopters and several boats are being used in the search across an area with light winds and 2-foot seas.

Because training for war can be as deadly as the war itself. And gravity is unforgiving.

Isn’t this a repeat of an almost identical accident in the very same area a few years back?

No survivors then, either.

My thought exactly, dejuvu all over again. We never learn.

I’ve never been on a pump where at least one aircraft wasn’t lost for one reason or another.

Dangerous job even in peacetime…. they are all dangerous jobs.

Rest in peace, troops.

I always heard that a helicopter is a formation of disparate parts, temporarily flying in formation.
That said, rest in peace, soldiers.

Haven’t heard this on the main stream media yet… they’re too busy covering fake news.

Having served on Oahu and flew (as a passenger) on Hueys, Blackhawks and Sh*thooks around and between islands, I always worried about ditching. Even if you survived the crash the ocean is not so forgiving…

RIP troops…

I am seeing it all over on mainstream websites. It is not a lead story but it is being covered.

I don’t watch broadcast TV so I can’t speak to whether it is getting mentioned in broadcasts. Likely not.

It is not exactly a slow news week and this kind of stuff about military accidents usually only get reported when there is an outcome to report or it happens in a populated area.

Wonder why my last posts needed to be moderated before posting.

Commissar wonders why his posts are moderated? ALL my posts are moderated and I am not a liberal communist, college level brainwashed maniac!

Being a former Wolfhound from Schofield, I pray for those missing and their families.

I never take my freedom for granted, especially on days such as this. Our nation lost some of her best to today, may comfort find their families in this darkest hour.

Oh. No. This hits home. A close family member is a former Black Hawk pilot, who also had several close calls.

Damn…RIP Brave Sons.
