NATO “Operation Sea Breeze”

| July 14, 2017

Novorussia Today is reporting on NATO’s “provocations” incurred by Operation Sea Breeze, an annual multinational navel exercise held in the Black Sea. Hosted by the Ukraine, the exercise began Monday and will continue through 12 September.

This year’s Sea Breeze is the largest yet, with up to 2500 personnel from 17 countries participating. The US will contribute 1000 sailors and Marines, 5 warships, various aircraft and other vehicles.

The Ukrainian Defense Ministry press service reported that the exercise is aimed at “drilling a multinational security operation in a crisis region.”

“The maneuvers are to enhance confidence and security in the region, improve interoperability between the naval force of Ukraine and NATO and partner countries,” the ministry said.”

In addition, other NATO member states will send troops and military equipment, 6 ships, 3 submarines, 6 aircraft and 10 wheeled vehicles.

US Naval Forces Europe-Africa, US 6th Fleet Command reported that “Maritime forces from 11 maritime nations will begin the US-Ukraine co-hosted multinational maritime exercise Sea Breeze 2015 in Odessa, Ukraine, and the Black Sea, Aug. 31. Sea Breeze, now in its 14th iteration, is an annual exercise held in the Black Sea which seeks to enhance interoperability and strengthen regional security.”

According to NATO sources, participating nations include Bulgaria, Germany, Greece, Italy, Moldova, Romania, Sweden, Turkey, Ukraine, the United Kingdom, and the United States. The exercise will include maritime interdiction operations, antisubmarine warfare, and defense against swarm tactics. Other skills to be exercised include air defense, damage control, and C-SAR.

Swatting down Nork-like Intermediate Range Ballistic Missiles (IRBMs) with Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) systems, and now the largest Sea Breeze exercise in history is being conducted in Russia’s pond. Messaging, anyone?

In case the message needs to be spelled out:

“The adults are back in charge.”

“Sea Breeze 2016 Opening Ceremony Held in Odessa, Ukraine”

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Dave Hardin

Holy shit, a ship with Marines going to Odessa?

I am taking odds on how many Marines and Sailors do not show up for muster.

For those who might be unfamiliar with Odessa…it is the epicenter of Adult Entertainment in the universe we now live.

Seriously, there a clubs there full of women that look exactly like our First Lady at 21. When I say “full”…I don’t mean a dozen. It is literally hundreds of them.

Or so I have heard…pure speculation on my part. I met my Spousal Unit at a Convent while she was studying to follow the footsteps of Mother Teresa.

HAHAHAHAHA…this will be fun to watch.

I was in Odessa in 2006 and can confirm. It would be #1 on my list as a single gentleman.

Don’t tell my wife, whom I met many years later.

Stop rubbing it in Dave!!!!

Better than Sydney, Brisbane, or Perth?

Challenge accepted!

I remember Sydney for R&R from Viet of the Nam. If a GI couldn’t get laid there for free, he couldn’t get it anywhere. Anyway, not without paying for it.

IDC SARC

We had guys in the ARG go UA in Australia(not my platoon)because of the abundant pookie.

rgr769

When I was in Sydney, I was told by several women that GI’s were so popular with the local ladies becuz Aussie men only cared about football, beer with their mates, and whatever, and that “pookie” came in as a very distant fourth priority for their men. By the way, what is the ARG?

IDC SARC

Amphibious Readiness Group…the ships, MEU and other elements of the Task Force.

rgr769

Thanks. Did you find that the Aussie people really liked Americans? They sure did back in 1971, especially the ones who were old enough to remember WWII.

IDC SARC

Yes, they sure seemed to.

1992 was my first visit to Sydney.

USS Proteus, 50th anniversary of the Battle of the Coral Sea.

We left Guam, and we’re told the party would be $10 per head. A lot of the guys were pissed, don’t ask me why. The MWR sold about 600 tickets (crew was about 1200.)

CMC announced day before arrival that there were over 12,000 women who had bought tickets. The remaining crew bought tix in less than 10 minutes.

Sure enough, the ratio was 10:1, as promised.

Maybe that is what they meant when they said,
“drilling a multinational security operation in a crisis region.”

And this ain’t shit compared to UNITAS or RIMPAC.

I hope Vlad is sweating a little, but I expect he’ll try buzzing ships again. Time he was severely mooned by all on board those ships.

Silentium Est Aureum

And this ain’t shit compared to UNITAS or RIMPAC.

Silentium Est Aureum

Not that close, no–but exercises such as these put a hell of a knot in their asses, as well as the PLN during RIMPAC.

It demonstrates that we and our allies are a hell of a lot better at projecting power than either the Russians or Chinese, and we have a lot more ports we can rely upon.

Them? Not so much.

Martinjmpr

“Sea Breeze?” Really? Sounds like either the name of a car air freshener you’d buy at 7 – 11 or a feminine hygiene product.

Shouldn’t naval exercises have names like “Strong Resolve” or “Allied Forge” or “We’re Here To Kick Ass And Chew Bubblegum And We’re Almost Out Of Bubblegum?” (OK that last one is probably too long to fit into the Joint Messaging system.)

Devtun

Anti pimple facial cleaner I seem to remember.

I had a sea breeze drink last dec. on my last cruise. How about taking names and kicking as and I don’t know how to write. This is bigger than Operation Steel Spike off of Seville Spain in 1964 that I attended while on board the OKIE 3.

The Other Whitey

Well, it’s only “provocative” in the sense that the Russkies don’t like it when their bullied neighbors get help.
