Senate report on Wounded Warrior Project

| May 29, 2017

AW1Ed sends us a link to the story of Senator Chuck Grassley’s report on the Wounded Warrior Project. You might remember that they fired their Chief Executive Officer, Steven Nardizzi last year;

The charity had said it spent 80 cents of each donor dollar on programs for veterans, but Grassley says that included donated media, advertisements and “educational” fundraising solicitations to reach that number.

And Grassley’s nearly 500-page report to the Senate Judiciary and Finance Committees found Wounded Warrior Project was spending only about 68 percent of donor dollars on programs for veterans.

It also found the charity:

lacked “sufficient policies and procedures to manage the organization…”
misled donors about more than $65 million placed in a long-term trust that had not yet been spent on veterans.
spent “excessive amounts” of money on travel, as well as fundraising and staff events.

WWP responds that they have made necessary changes to their policies. A responsible veterans’ charity probably wouldn’t need a Senate investigation to spur them into compliance.

Well, aint that special. I don’t see where he mentions that the organization is ate up with fake and embellishing clowns.

Does anyone mention that they use smaller veteran groups to do a lot of what does get done? They farm out their so called benevolence.

Give me a stack of SF-180’s at any one of their functions and I will show you a bunch of posers that have all been protecting each other.

But, but, but they do help some veterans. Ya, well I hear Hamas helps some people too. I guess that makes it OK.

There is something wrong with every “charity” which uses “emotional blackmail” for THIER OWN benefit!

I can only hope that there is a VERY special place in the Hot Place for these dog turds.

I’ve been waiting to see the results of their new leadership before I started supporting them again. Reckon not much has changed unfortunately.

I still haven’t read anything from them in any form of apology for all the charities that they filed lawsuits against. I’m sorry, but they are going to have to do better before I’ll even think about supporting their cause – and they are going to have to raise their percentage numbers a whole lot more. The money is for the people they are representing, not padding their pockets with outrageous salaries.

MustangCryppie

Dumped them a while back mostly cause of what I learned here. Now I support Fisher House. Seems like a good organization.

I used to routinely donate to WWP. In 2012 I saw them at Walter Reed giving away iPads and iPods like candy to anyone even visiting a wounded servicemember ( I didn’t take anything ). I also saw them giving away per diem to one wounded Marine’s six high school friends who had all been flown up. I didn’t think it felt right so I wrote them several letters about what I felt was a gross overkill on freebies to family and friends of the wounded. No one ever responded to my letters. I stopped donating (and a year later it all sort of came out in the news). It felt like such a waded opportunity to do good. It still pisses me off.

I donate to Team Rubicon, Soldier’s Angels, and Lone Survivor Foundation, worthy organizations all.

They have a lot of poser’s, embellishers and weak-minded individuals in their ranks.

Its all about the PTSD….

They also enable people.

Food for thought.

Fisher House, St. Jude, a few others, church. Actually toured St. Jude when stationed at Memphis/Millington about 40 years ago. Fantastic place. They do great work.

And I give Jonn money every few months. Now, I’m a realist and I know he’s using my money to get liquored up and buy cheaper n crap ceegars. But ….. he does run a good site, so he can do whatever he wants to do with the money. Smoke ’em if you got ’em, Jonn.
