This just seemed apropos, given the article Jonn just published.
Mainstream Media Publishes ‘Fake News’
The results were from the most recent Harvard-Harris poll.
It’s not just Republicans who think the media “pulls things out of it’s (ear)” these days, either. A majority of both political independents and Democrats also believed the mainstream media often contains fake news. Nationwide, the combined total was nearly 2/3 of those polled.
When most people say that something looks like a duck, walks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, well . . . there’s a damn good chance that it’s a duck.
IMO there’s a reason the US public today has less respect for the press as an institution than they do for Congress. And when we see stuff like Jonn wrote about featured by “reputable” news organizations as “big news”, IMO the public has a damn good reason for its low opinion of the former.

I am an unemployed journalist who has been fired from every journalist job I ever held over the last forty plus years. I am proud of this, though broke most of the time! The reason? The editors always claimed ‘editorial differences’ as the reason. I have always written to one objective. The truth no matter where it lies!
I spend a lot of time these days pointing out the lies and editorial bent of an article or story I am hearing on the news. Even if the story is real, listen to how it is presented. A lie is still a lie, even if based on fact.
Start your own eZine or Blog. Something along the lines of “Deconstructing Drivel”.
Take apart /Fisk / explain what is published, as you said you do.
Get good at the game, monetize your site.
Be your own boss, make money at it, and put the screws to the ones who fired you.
Savor the result!
Another thing I see turning people off is the editorial slant they always give their coverage with their “THIS is what we see fit to tell you peasants and what YOU should think of it!” attitude.
Circulation of The Washington Post, along with a majority of the “mainstream reputable newspapers” continues in a downward death spiral. Why? I don’t know, but I bet that a lot of this is due to these newspapers covering lies, ineptitude and corruption of the Democrat party while finding fault, real or imagined, of any Republican transgression. Throw in the editorial boards of these newspapers, along with their social justice warrior columnists, and mainstream America grows tired of hearing that we are what is wrong with America. The Washington Post even has a columnist, Petula Dvorak that wrote an article last summer calling America misogynistic for not Florida cling to theaters to watch the female version of Ghostbusters.
Petula Dvorak sounds to be a professional victim as are so many today.
That last line should read “not flooding to theaters”. Hack Stone Publishing regrets the error.

Fake news isn’t necessarily false information. Most commonly, fake news is elevating inconsequential and picayune information to DefCon Level 4. In other words, it’s bullshit and the public, on the whole, being stupid, eats it up, not knowing that “the news” isn’t.
