Washington Post jumps the Trump shark
Last night, the Washington Post breathlessly reported “House majority leader to colleagues in 2016: ‘I think Putin pays’ Trump“. In the article they recounted that conversation;
A month before Donald Trump clinched the Republican nomination, one of his closest allies in Congress — House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy — made a politically explosive assertion in a private conversation on Capitol Hill with his fellow GOP leaders: that Trump could be the beneficiary of payments from Russian President Vladimir Putin.
“There’s two people I think Putin pays: Rohrabacher and Trump,” McCarthy (R-Calif.) said, according to a recording of the June 15, 2016, exchange, which was listened to and verified by The Washington Post. Rep. Dana Rohrabacher is a Californian Republican known in Congress as a fervent defender of Putin and Russia.
House Speaker Paul D. Ryan (R-Wis.) immediately interjected, stopping the conversation from further exploring McCarthy’s assertion, and swore the Republicans present to secrecy.
It sounds very conspiratorial doesn’t it. Well, an actual transcript of the conversation tells a different story;
There are four incidences of [Laughter] that aren’t in the text of the Washington Post article. If the internet has taught us anything, the written word is difficult to judge without some kind of emotional context-that’s why we now have emojis with which to express ourselves. The Congressmen were joking – like that time Ronald Reagan joked that he was bombing the Soviet Union after he outlawed it.
This article rates right up there, or right down there, with the two scoops of ice cream article on CNN last week. Between you and me, I don’t think Putin could afford Trump.
Category: Media
No, but Trump could buy out the remaining drilling rights for the Rosneft platform.
Glencore and Qatar already own 50%, and Vlad needs money for his war in Syria.
The Russians… so sick and tired of hearing about the Russians.
The guy who leaked DNC emails to wiki leaks wasn’t russian. He was one of them.
The 2 political parties are scared shitless of Trump, not because he is Trump but because of the fact he won, when both parties tried defeating him.
Yes, Mr. Rich wasn’t Russian, but he is DEAD now. Mysteriously shot in the back of the head in a “attempted robbery” where he was left with his watch, wallet, credit cards, phone and money. As a certain make believe Marine Pvt. would say, “Surprise, Surprise, Sergeant.”
65 unsolved murders in DC last year. I’m sure the DNC, RNC, the clintons, and the ancient alien lizard race that secretly control the world are to blame for the other 64.
Pooch pumpers and jumping sharks, it’s a Wild Kingdom kind of day.
I see a merger in WaPo’s future with the National Inquirer.
Do you really think the Enquirer would want to have anything to do with WaPo?
Damn it, miss spelled enquirer, thanks.
The Enquirer may not be willing to take that big of a hit to their bottom line.
If National Enquirer merged with WaahPo, where would MIB get their intel? Their intel would be corrupted.
Exactly. But what if WaPo merged with People Mag?
Fornicated fido five ways to Friday.
Someone should tell the WaPo arm of the Politburo that they are responsible for the attacks on our civil union by giving creedance to the Antifa/communists/anarcho cucks.
As a self identified member of the Kekistani diaspora I find their memes undank and lame. I’m waiting for the day ‘The Enlightened Ones’ actively call for the rounding up of my people, you know, ‘for our safety’.
This going to get violent.
I’m glad I live in the woods.
Agreed. I keep telling people that the only logical course of action to the fascist left IS violence. They simply don’t have the numbers nor do they have a point that is palatable for most people. Sooner or later they’ll get even more militant as they see their influence wane. Go to the tooyubes and search for antifa firearms training. They’re getting ready, have no doubt.
.
Yeah, but Roh-Dog, they assume that we’re as gullible, pliable and obedient as the Russian people who knuckled under to Stalin and the Germans who knuckled under to Hitler.
We aren’t. Never have been. Never will be.
Anyone need a camp cook?
Just to be clear. Fascism is a far right ideology.
So, the threat of fascism comes from the right.
I know the right likes to throw the word around whenever they feel like progressives are “oppressing” them, but it is flat bullshit.
Fascism is an only ever is right wing.
Authoritarianism can be left or right wing, but fascism is ONLY right wing.
And I were to list the tenets of fascism that are found to be common in all historical fascist movement most of you would find you agree with most of them. Because Fascism is right wing.
I once read a description of Fascism that described a system where the means of production were privately owned but state run
unlike Communism where the means of production are state owned and state run.
I think I will stick with that description. You can call it left or right all you like but left and right have “swapped poles” throughout history and therefore I do not see your argument reaching the crux of the biscuit.
The word has become “socially current” for some really lame arguments. Yours included.
Lars, for your elucidation, from MeriamWebster:
“1 often capitalized :
a political philosophy, movement, or regime (such as that of the Fascisti) that exalts nation and often race above the individual and that stands for a centralized autocratic government headed by a dictatorial leader, severe economic and social regimentation, and forcible suppression of opposition.”
Nothing about being so-called “right wing” in there, is there?
Nothing in there that any of us conservatives would agree with, either.
Exalt nation and/or race over the individual? Nope.
Strong centralized government headed by a dictatorial leader? Nope.
Forcible suppression of opposition? Nope.
In fact each of those are characteristics shared by your “antifa” buddies at Berkley, and the DNC.
To further elucidate:
“The English words fascism and fascist are borrowings from Italian fascismo and fascista, derivatives of fascio (plural fasci), “bundle, fasces, group.” Fascista was first used in 1914 to refer to members of a fascio, or political group. In 1919, fascista was applied to the black-shirted members of Benito Mussolini’s organization, the Fasci di combattimento (“combat groups”), who seized power in Italy in 1922. Playing on the word fascista, Mussolini’s party adopted the fasces, a bundle of rods with an ax among them, as a symbol of the Italian people united and obedient to the single authority of the state. The English word fascist was first used for members of Mussolini’s fascisti, but it has since been generalized to those of similar beliefs.”
Where have we seen black-shirted combat groups lately?
Oh, yeah. Berkley!
Graybeard,
Here is some additional ‘supporting fire’ for your post from Britannica:
https://www.britannica.com/topic/fascism
‘[…]
Although fascist parties and movements differed significantly from each other, they had many characteristics in common, including extreme militaristic nationalism, contempt for electoral democracy and political and cultural liberalism, a belief in natural social hierarchy and the rule of elites, and the desire to create a Volksgemeinschaft (German: “people’s community”), in which individual interests would be subordinated to the good of the nation.
[…]
Fascist parties and movements came to power in several countries between 1922 and 1945:
[…]
the National Socialist German Workers’ Party (Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei), or Nazi Party, led by Adolf Hitler and representing his National Socialism movement
[…].’
Of note from Britannica’s discussion of Fascism:
– ‘Contempt for electoral democracy’
– ‘Belief in the rule of elites’
– ‘Individual interests would be subordinated to the good of the nation’
– ‘National SOCIALIST German Workers’ Party’
– ‘National SOCIALISM’
These are left wing tenets that are found in historical Fascism as described in the quoted reference.
As you pointed out above, there’s nothing right wing or conservative in any of that.
Doggone it, Mick, between you and Graybeard, you left no room for the Piuperdink to stick his oar in and dispute your facts!
He keeps letting us all know that he thinks he’s one of the elites and we’re just a bunch of peones, when we’re the heart and soul of everything this country stands for, and he’s on the outside looking in.
Mick – I appreciate your supporting fire.
Together we may have, as ex-PH2 observes, sufficient suppressing fire to repulse that particular advance of falsehood.
Shack.
Crap in your right hand, shit in your left.
See the difference?
I’m going to have to jump in on this one and disagree with you Lars. Many moons ago, when I first studied political science, “left”/”liberal” and “right” conservative,” was a description of one’s desire to change the status quo in a given political or economic system. Whereas, dictatorship, monarchy, democracy, etc. were descriptions of political systems and communism, capitalism were descriptions of economic systems.
Those who leaned left wanted to change the system to something new. Those who leaned right either wanted the status quo to remain or return the system to a prior state. Accordingly, on the extreme left was the Revolutionary who wanted to completely replace the existing system with something new and on the extreme right, was the Reactionary who wanted to replace the existing system with one that existed before.
With those definitions, which I choose to continue to use because they are discrete and logical (and because I’m generally conservative when it comes to etymology):
Fascism is not from the right in the USA; though it might be if this were Germany. Fascism never existed in this country, does not exist now and could only exist in this country if the political system in this country moves to the far left.
I recognize that definitions can change over time, but the political discourse in this country has become so undisciplined and imprecise that participants at all levels, including institutes of higher learning, misuse and abuse terms so frequently that it’s nearly impossible to communicate clearly on the subject.
Wrong dumbass! the only way facism is right wing is when it’s compared to even farther leftist shit like communism….
That was directed at Lars, just to avoid any confusion
Zampolit, you keep losing this argument, badly.
Fascism, state control of the means of production, is only “right” of Communism.
Thus the main proponent of Facism called his party “National Socialist German Workers Party”, and his predecessor, and founder of the term “Facism”, Mussolini said “Everything within the State. Nothing outside the State. Nothing against the State.”
If you cannot deal with facts, you will not persuade the average denizen of this forum.
But do please rant on. You reassure us that we are correct in our ways and beliefs, because you, as spokesman for the Left, are such a disaster.

Gets really interesting starting around 00:06:00
So this means I should put money toward a crossbow and bolts instead of a new car?
Buy the new car Ex.
Just keep crossbow handy.
In terms of effectiveness and rapid fire, a recurve is your best choice.
Crossbows were ok in a military situation where one was in or attacking a fortification among a group of soldier. It is arguably not a force multiplier, however. It is more analogous to a sniper rifle.
For guerilla style fighting, the recurve is a force multiplier, more analogous to the AR/AK-style rifles.
Depending upon the construction materials and skill-levels, the range can be quite impressive.
it’s that “skill level” that’s a bugger….almost anyone can learn to shoot a crossbow quickly and accurately; longbow takes a LOT more practice.
It’s called “range time” – just like for a fire arm.
[grin]
Stringing the recurve bow and pulling the bowstring back is terrific exercise for back and shoulders, but it’s best to do it from both sides.
Crossbows? Take too long to load.
https://youtu.be/644yICFua_w
Get a compound bow with locking cams. Best bows evah IME.
Too many potential points of failure IMHO.
In a survival situation, simplicity and skills are your friends.
If one is reasonably healthy, and strong, the bow wins.
If one is older, and/or less than fully able, the crossbow has real advantages. Chiefly that it is cocked with greater mechanical advantage, even by windlass if needed, and can store the energy without strain to the wielder.
There are air guns that throw arrows. How cool is that?
Theoretically, one could also carry an atl-atl in case the distance is to target is too close to use a bow of any kind.
A good atlatl wielder can hit a target 2 football fields away, I’ve been told.
That’s some serious range.
I think I may be able to hit something 10 feet away…
+1 for the recurve. cheap-ish and fast.
May I suggest a brush guard or push bar for the whip? Put the fear of God into the road-blocking morons.
I was thinking more along the lines of a cow-catcher from a steam locomotive, plus the bull bar.
I think we’ll be fine. There are more of us than there are of them. Remember that.
No, no, no – they got that all wrong.
Putin “could be” paying ME. Makes a lot more sense. I’m much more affordable than Trump.
What? There is no reason for Putin to pay me? Well, of course. We all know that. There is also no reason for Putin to be paying Trump either.
The space station is actually a money laundering operation with the Russians.
Oh shit. Now I have to watch my back.
The world needs an enema….
I thought what is coming from the MSM was the result of an enema.
Posted by me elsewhere on the Internet, and in e-mails:

President Trump is our last hope of preventing the impending civil war and/or general anarchy, and if he is impeached or dies while in office, any possibility of restoration and resurrection of the traditional United States of America will be nullified, as Communism, ignorance, violence, anti-White racism, and hatred for Christian morality will reign supreme, unstoppable and omnipotent.
Isn’t it interesting to see so much virulent, hysterical, generalized opposition to President Trump and all of his efforts?
That has me just a wee bit suspicious.
Could be the last gasp of the Bad Guys, too.
Is it just me or is the Washed-all-up [Com]Post doing its damnedest to make itself as irrelevant as it can? I wouldn’t even buy an issue to use as a source of shit paper in a privy!
WaPo is the newspaper that broke the story about the break-in at the Watergate Hotel and the ransacking of Ellsberg’s shrink’s office and files. Woodward and Bernstein had inside info from someone named ‘Deep Throat’, later identified as Mark Felt, who was the FBI’s Associate Director after Hoover died.
WaPo’s attempts to discredit everything Trump does are based entirely on that bit of Glory Days, when they actually had credibility. But that was when Kathryn Graham ran WaPo and it hadn’t become the birdcage liner it is now. It’s no better than a tabloid from the Hollywood gossip rag days of yellow journalism.
IMHO The National Enquirer has at least fifty times more integrity than the Washed-all-up [Com]Post does nowadays.
This comment was a joke and it was a dumb thing to try to report as anything else.
The guy has a bit of a dipshit sense of humor. But just like the dinosaur comment a few years ago he is just trying to be funny.
Note: out of mild concern for those that inexplicably choose to feel offended why I use curse words I originally typed “he has a nit of a ‘nitwit”” since of humor. However, after looking up the definitions of “nitwit” and “dipshit”, I think “dipshit” is more accurate.
Which is also why I swear so often, when I comment I try to be accurate and honest about my true thoughts and feelings and most of time I honestly feel like swearing when dealing with you guys.
*Commisar, not “Commentary”.
Pretty funny how my dysgraphia works sometimes.
You used it twice, you realize….
…
Stick with it. it suits you better than “Commisar”. (Not a zing. It works.)
I think the Post staff just quit giving a shit about reporting when Bezos bought the paper, if they ever gave a shit.
WAPO’s hatred of Trump overwhelms any sense of responsible reporting, if there ever was a sliver of ethics at some point. Oh, but Wemple took a break from all things Trump to denigrate Ailes today, for Fox News pointing out that Obamacare is a failed and doomed program.
But they’re not biased, right?
There’s something strange going on with the WaPo story, and it would be interesting to understand the back-story of why it ran. At least in the sense of the internal workings of the paper, and not the garden-variety level of the Trump jihad.
Sometimes what happens with news stories is they can start with the idea that they’re going to go in a certain direction, and then find out there’s nothing to support an original suspicion, hypothesis or whatever. This story is sending off those kind of signals.
In the first place, it has a Kiev, Ukraine dateline which makes no sense considering it’s about what was said by members of Congress. The writer with the byline, Adam Entous is formerly of the Wall Street Journal, and has only been with the WaPo since January. Entous also had help from apparently four others. It seems unusual that there would be five people involved in what amounts mainly to coverage of a joke.
There’s also a long convoluted narrative, some of it verging on tinfoil hat stuff, about Russian influence in the Ukraine which seemed to amount to an extended non sequitur. It’s as if the Post was trying to make some dots connect, found out they didn’t. and ran with what they had.
All of Washington Post’s articles have been like that lately. They remind of that old saw “If you can’t sing well, sing loud”. What they lack in substance they make up for in volume.
They obviously are sticking with it and all the liberal ‘journalists’ are tweeting about it like it’s the smoking gun from Deep Throat. A Joke. Crazy
Like so many of the over-educated with “journalism” degrees, WaPOS writers no longer see their mission as reporting of facts, but as one of “social change” by means of outright propaganda and social activism. To make matters worse, they seem to be stuck somewhere between denial and anger on the “stages of grief” scale.
Dear media:
We get it, you don’t like the President. Most of America doesn’t like him for one reason or another, and aside from him pissing certain people off, I don’t especially care for him either.
The thing is, ‘obnoxious president’ isn’t big news. It’s certainly not half, or a third, of all “news.” We’ve had him for 5 months, and we’ll have him for a bunch more. What else is going on in the world? Maybe push your Trump clickbait to page two or stop making shit up entirely.
-kthxbye
Commissar and his fellow travelers at all levels own this. They’re crying about what a monster Trump is, but he’s a monster of their own making.
First, the blatantly-leftist mainstream media pushed hard to get him nominated, thinking he’d be low-hanging fruit. Then they pushed two candidates that made Donald fucking Trump look presidential by comparison: Bernie Sanders, a two-faced commie with a fake “Vah-mawnt” accent and a history of economic failure, and the toxic hellbitch who personifies the word “corruption” and was openly fascist in her rhetoric. Then they flaunted their true colors even more when the commie turned out to be a (willing or otherwise) decoy–who was only briefly indignant before selling out anyway.
Donald Trump might as well preface every speech with “Brought to you by America’s liberals.” They went full Frankenstein (and full retard), with all the hubris that entails, and their creation turned against them. Nice job, tovarischii!
To be fair, Lars is in agreement with us on this particular article.
Oh yeah, they may hate on him, but he’s great for business. Not the business of informing the public, but the business of attracting clicks to their pages and eyeballs to their channels. He’s easy to find fault in, and a reliable source of new material. Just another reality-tv style trainwreck to them. Like a honey boo boo, or a snooki, or a hilton.
But even he’s still not enough, I guess, so they make stuff sometimes, because people coming to their site to see if there’s a retraction are clicks too.
Something’s really got to change in this world, I’m getting sick of it. Maybe I need a log cabin or something.
Fascinating reading as you guys continue to do back flips trying to defend Trump as he sinks deeper and deeper. The little hamster in your brain is running full speed in his hamster wheel trying to turn it around and blame Trump’s treason on the Dems somehow. Anything but confronting the truth about your boy, and your bankrupt ideology. One wonders what it would take for some of you to see reality and break ranks with your brethren.
Says the guy that spent his time on here during the Obama Administration spinning everything negative about Obama into a positive light. You wouldn’t know reality if it bit you on the ass.
Here’s a link to three instances that the JEF “obstructed” justice:
http://www.whitehousedossier.com/2017/05/17/times-barack-obama-attempted-obstruct-justice/
I guess JoeMama wont see it that way, because he got one of those Skittle-shitting unicorns that queef cotton candy farts and a Obamaphone!
And there you have it… Joe (Da Village Idiot) pontificating and postulating once again while sucking the liberal/socialist/communist barbed cock of Satan… while he was all silent about the JEF and his minions running amok.
Hey Joe… the media is not your friend, assclown!
I’m surprised he hasn’t fallen off his rock yet.
He’s getting “pegged” by Rachel Madcow and the rest of the MSM this afternoon… they’re upset with him that he isn’t working the message hard enough, so they’re working him hard… with the Anal Intruder (with patented “Gorilla fist” action).
Aww, he’s just engaging in what the New Left used to call “consciousness-raising”.
(Known during the Cold War as brainwashing or thought reform.)
Joe, so what’s the bigger story, the ice cream or McCarthy’s out of context joke?
I’m actually glad CNN and WAPO prints this rubbish, it proves they’re biased…
Your mutual-lefty FapFantasy of “getting” Trump is going to get you four more years, probably with a 60 seat Republican Senate, and possibly a Convetion of States.
Keep pounding, dipshit.

Folks, the Left has gone full “Rosco (D) Coltrane”. They just know that -this- time, they will finally get that Donald boy…… (as their car goes end-over end into another swamp….)
Hey, Joe. I hear you and your ilk have turned Durango into a teeming homeless shithole. Good job.
Now go smash your face with a rock.
Oh, my… looks like Comey is a little bytch-boi for Chuckles “the media’s assclown” Schumer:
http://thefederalist.com/2017/05/17/former-attorney-general-on-comeys-integrity-jims-loyalty-was-more-to-chuck-schumer/
No surprise there. None. At. All.
OT – new “artwork” of Maxine Waters:
http://gotnews.com/maxine-waters-poverty-pimp-posters-home-district/
Saw that earlier in the day – it is epic.
Ouch. That bites the big one.
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!!!
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA…
From some of the articles comments she lives 5 to 6 miles outside of her district.
That didn’t even keep her from being reelected though.
