Tuesday morning feel good stories
From Cobb County, Georgia;
A Subway store employee shot a man who police say tried to rob the Cobb County restaurant Monday morning.
[…]
A man walked in alone to the Subway at 3305 Acworth Oaks Drive, near Baker Road, Cheatum said.
A male employee shot and hit the man in the chest, but the suspect ran out and minutes later Kennesaw police got a call about a man having been shot.
The man was at Kennesaw Medical Center but he did not drive himself there, Cheatum said.
He was taken to WellStar Kennestone Hospital, where he was believed to be in surgery about 12:30 p.m.
Cheatum said detectives are seeking other people who may have been involved.
From Cincinnati, Ohio;
Police say a veteran who shot at firefighters conducting a welfare check at his Cincinnati home won’t be charged in connection with the misunderstanding.
Kenneth Mullins says he fired at firefighters who forced entry into his home on Sunday morning because he thought the commotion was an intruder breaking in.
A police spokesman says the Cincinnati Fire Department was called to assist officers checking on Mullins at the behest of the man’s friends.
Mullins’ friends alerted the authorities after he missed a scheduled appointment for treatment at the local Veterans Affairs hospital.
Four people fought back against armed robbers in a Kennewick apartment on Sunday.
Three men knocked on a door and forced their way into the home at the Irving Place Apartments about 9 p.m. and demanded the occupants give them things, said Sgt. Randy Maynard. One robber had a shotgun and another a knife.
“The victims are not clear about (what the robbers wanted) and just talked about these guys yelling a lot,” he said.
The four victims fought with the robbers and one received a minor stab wound. Maynard said the man was treated by paramedics at the apartment.
The robbers eventually left in a white car.

Speaking of Kennesaw, here’s why it’s a great place:
“Chapter 34 – Civil Emergencies, Article II – Firearms, Sec. 34-21. – Heads of households to maintain firearms.
(a) In order to provide for the emergency management of the city, and further in order to provide for and protect the safety, security and general welfare of the city and its inhabitants, every head of household residing in the city limits is required to maintain a firearm, together with ammunition therefore.
(b) Exempt from the effect of this section are those heads of households who suffer a physical or mental disability which would prohibit them from using such a firearm. Further exempt from the effect of this section are those heads of households who are paupers or who conscientiously oppose maintaining firearms as a result of beliefs or religious doctrine, or persons convicted of a felony.
(Ord. No. 2009-03, Exh. A, 2-16-09)”
In the Ohio case, if it seems that the Fire Dept was quick to forgive and forget, I suspect that there is good reason for that. The Veteran could sue the crap out of the city for creating the situation in which he was compelled to fire his handgun. Sure they meant well. So did the Santa Clara police who killed a Veteran last year. So, let’s start with firing the firemen who were there and attempted or aided the break-in. Okay?
That is why I am SO IN FAVOR of Gun Law reform. IMHO the Gun Laws OF EVERY State, City and County need to be amended to just what Kennessaw GA has!
So if i walk into a subway alone im liable to get shot? Thats how that storyjonpjonp reads
