Army Guy for SecNav….
Pres. Trump (get used to that) is giving the job of Secretary of the Navy to an Army vet.
Okay, I just want to know if this guy knows anything about boats and which end is which. Otherwise, I’m good with it.
Maybe we should chip in and send him a copy of the Bluejackets Manual. I don’t know what I did with mine.
Poetrooper gets credit for sending this one. Thanks, PT!

Still have my Bluejacket Manual. Re ships, the pointy end is the front.
AH HA!!! I have found a poseur!!!
Some boats have TWO POINTY ends. I think they call them tow pointy end boats.
You FRAUD!!
Someone keelhaul this faker.
Signed,
Dr T
PS: I’m very busy today (I’m late for my mid morning nap) so don’t bother me any more…
It shouldn’t be hard to find someone who could do the job much better than May-piss. I hope his replacement immediately starts bulldozing PC shit out of the way like I’m sure SECDEF “Warrior Monk” Mattis wants to!
Richard Simmons would be a dramatic improvement over Mabus.
Whoa … pretty sure that’s going to leave a mark!
Hopefully they’ll kick things off by immediately renaming the USS GABRIELLE GIFFORDS (LCS-10) and the USNS HARVEY MILK (T-AO-2060).
Every SINKEX target shall be renamed USS Ray Mabus for the event!
Don’t forget the USNS Cesar Chavez…
I’m sure that the Private that I chaptered out 10 years ago for popping hot on the piss test could do a better job than Mabus.
I’ve got the feeling that SECNAV Bilden is going to do just fine leading the Department of the Navy. As per the article linked above:
– His two sons are currently serving as officers in the U.S. Navy, so he has some ‘skin in the game’
– He comes from a military family with four consecutive generations of seven Bilden Navy and Army officers
– He was an Army Intelligence Officer, so he understands and respects the military and the military culture
– He is on the board of directors of the United States Naval Academy Foundation
– He is the board of trustees of the Naval War College Foundation
– Perhaps most importantly, he’ll be working under the direct supervision of SECDEF Mattis
He’ll never get ’em all in step.
i see what u did there
So he has depth not readily apparent to those who only look at his experience as an Army vet?
Considering that the Army has about a 100 ships and ocean going vessels I’d say that it’s not a completely crazy idea.
That’s gonna catch some grief in the bars between the anchor clankers and ground pounders.
Pres Trump has nominated former Congresswoman, and AFA grad Heather Wilson as new Secretary of The Air Force.

The annual Army-Navy football game might be tough.
Grin …
Go Army, Beat Army.
That’s the only way Army might win a game!
First order of buisness: Renaming the USS Harvey Milk to something else, anything else!
USS Twinkie?
USS Fuck With Us And We Shoot
Yeah, but if they do that, then no one can twit the crew about doing a milk run any more.
He probably won’t be naming any ships after Malcolm X and changing the Navy ratings. I don’t see why Trump couldn’t have found a decent Navy vet for the job.

I think mine was the 1963 version. It’s buried somewhere. I never got all my books onto their shelves in my library. Okay, it’s an extra bedroom, but in my daydreams, it’s my library.
I think my sister has my mother’s Bluejackets Manual circa 1951
Not worried about this appointment at all. By the time you get to this level, management skills are much more important than specific product knowledge. He will have plenty of experts to take care of those details. His is a big picture job.
Besides, it certainly beats someone with no military background at all.
As to the question of finding an appropriate Navy vet for the position – Apparently not. Given the horror stories we have heard in the past few years about Navy command folks, could we really trust such an appointment?
The Navy will be just fine.
Dang, the past week has been great.
As has been said above, Army or Navy, at least he has the military mentality.
Bilden: “Captain, would you mind reaching over there and grabbing a couple of Cokes for me and your boss.”
Captain: “Um. Sir, I am the boss. The commander here is my subordinate.”
Bilden: “No shit?”
Mr. Secretary, first order of business – please, please, please stop the PPT deep shipbuilding nonsense (LCS, DDG 1000). We have only a short time to change course or we’ll wander into the shoal waters of the terrible 20’s when the surface, subsurface and aviation forces of USN start falling apart due to lack of funding for depot level maintenance and we don’t have new stuff coming on line to fast enough replace the stuff that’s wearing out. Mr. Secretary, a fleet is capital intensive, and grows slowly. Yes, we need new stuff, like a real FFG, DDG-51 FLT III, new SSN’s and SSBN’s, but we also need to do the heavy maintenance of docking and structurally repairing our current fleet as it ages (and it’s aging). The “great green fleet” (Teddy Roosevelt rolls over in his grave every time that’s mentioned), monkeying around with stuff on the periphery (ratings asshattery and SJW stuff for the SEAL’s and USMC 0311’s) should go to “all stop” ASAP. I wish you fair winds and following seas Mr. Secretary. I do not envy you, you have your work cut out for you. Let’s get ‘er done!
Took me a minute to figure out what you were talking about in regards to the SJW stuff with the Marine Infantry and SEALs, almost got defensive, then I realized what you meant. At first I thought you were upset about building new Amphibious Assault Ships, and thems fightin’ words.
I like me some gator freighters too, just not ones with titanium firemain piping. I’m looking at you LPD 17.
Bilden. “Dammit. My watch stopped. What time is it and I want your reply in hours and minutes. If you give it to me in bells again, it’s your ass.”
Yes, marking time in bells IS a seekrit squirrel code peculiar to the moist end of the military, but it’s not that difficult to crack the code. Here’s a little help.

And please don’t ask me to explain the dog watch. Some things are simply inexplicable.
Well, I always hear from my Repertory Therapist brother how the Army has more watercraft than the Navy and more Aircraft than the Air Force, Marines or Navy so for all we know this fellow does know about patching inner tube and cleaning off barnacles from watercraft.
In any case make sure he gets acquainted with anything other than the LCS because otherwise he’ll see that Duct tape improves the structural integrity of that POS and assume the same holds true for all Navy Vessels.
Bilden. “Hey, Mike. Look at those guys. Chissake. Is everyone in the Navy gay?”
Mike. “No, sir. Those sailors just got ashore. They still have their sea legs”.
Bilden. Oh. Thank goodness.”
