Veronica Dale Hahn stole $400k from VA

| January 23, 2017

TSO sends a link about Veronica Dale Hahn in the Florida panhandle who convinced the Department of Veterans’ Affair that she is blind;

“However, within a year of receiving her disability benefits for loss of vision, she obtained a driver’s license in New Mexico, Alabama, and Florida with no vision restrictions, after passing vision exams in each state with at least 20/40 vision,” according to a news release from Christopher P. Canova, attorney for the Northern District of Florida. She also was reported driving her vehicle during that time and working full-time as a case manager and transition counselor at several state correctional facilities, “all of which required normal eyesight to perform her duties.”

The 60-year-old is looking at ten years for her scam that cost veterans $394,800.85 from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs between November 2001 and February 2016.

She’s blind? Well, now why didn’t I think of that?
Yes, it was all that time in the darkroom, with only the yellow spectrum print light available to let me see where I was going. I came out of the cave one day, and everything was – well, blue. The sky, water, birds – everything. It didn’t make sense.

Maybe her seeing eye dog was the one driving and those DMVs were afraid to discriminate so they gave her the licenses?

Yeah, this is backwards. The VA was Blind and they should have to go to prison with her and pay themselves back half of what they allowed her to steal.

Too bad for her she doesn’t work for the VA. Apparently if you work for them you can take $400K in “moving expenses” and keep your job.

Perhaps Bernath will be in the V.A news next.

I read somewhere long ago that VA disability benefits are paid directly from the Treasury and do not affect or come out of the VA budget.
Not sure what that means in a case like this but there it is.

Hack Stone

I bet she didn’t see that arrest coming.

I think a good alternative would be to blind her in both eyes and let her keep the dough.

Green Thumb

I bet she can see her future at All-Points Logistics…..

We need more auditors!

WHAT A Rocket Surgeon, I hope she gets the book thrown at her! She claimed to be blind but too many others around her weren’t and her scams caught up to her.

Florida….

Bitch.

We old timers know all about the woman’s claimed condition. See, after returning from RVN, a lot of us got into oddities such as Cheech and Chong, water pipes and bongs….along with the other behavior changing medicinal needs. One who neither earned nor filed was Blind Melon Chitlin. For those who have no idea (and that probably includes many), take a listen to the Blind Baby’s musical talent. Sounded better back in the day when we just didn’t give a damn about anything. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JWMEiNPcc2Q

You forgot all about that other hit from Blind Melon Chitlin and Tyrone Shoelaces – “I’m a (Modern) Man”

It’s not only the money that was stolen that’s offensive, it’s the lack of empathy. Most of us who get VA benefits probably have a bitter sweet feeling about the money. This woman can’t even begin to understand what it’s like to be disabled by blindness.

Here’s another fraud who got busted for taking $300,000 from the VA. She claimed she lost use of her hand from a accident during military service. She got busted at Disneyland on Jan 16, 2017.

Crystal Lee Riedling, you just got caught scamming the government out of $300,000. What are you going to do now?

I’m going to Disney World!

A Proud Infidel®™

You mean she didn’t claim that Disney Magic suddenly healed her hand?

Seems like the VA is pretty blind to me!!!!!!!!!

As we all know, there was nobody else out there that really needed that care and money.

There is more to this story. In order to receive benefits for blindness she would need to provide proof from a medical doctor. How did she obtain this proof? Must be more people involved. My father received max benefit from VA because he was legally blind and over 65. It required massive amounts of paper and signed statements from two doctors. something smells funny.

Something is not kosher. This Woman Veteran is a scapegoat..Some Physician signed documents to support her diagnosis. She was seen in clinic for her condition. What doctor verified her blindness? Did the Physician testify. Did she have legal representation? Was she being treated for mental illness. This narrative is not adding up…There is a pattern of going after disabled WomenVeterans..Watch for thr rest of the story…..this aint a done deal

Remembering when I got my New Mexico driver’s license – they had me look into the machine, both eyes open, and read the signs. I asked whether they needed me to cover one eye etc. like Texas always did, and they replied “well, we figure most people don’t go driving down the road with one hand over an eye.”
