I’m beginning to think that “Craigslist” may need to be renamed to “Hitlist” – always an iffy proposition to meet with a stranger for money.
I know people who keep an eye on it for cats and dogs that are being given away for free instead of being taken to a shelter. There’s one rescue that has rehomed about a dozen purebred cats that came from Craigslist.
My wife and I learned some about this past from rescue organizations this fall when we started looking for a new dog after the passing of our 13 y/o Lab in the summer.
Apparently, some really bad folks sometimes get “free” animals to use as “training” meat for fighting dogs, animal testing, and who knows what other horrific things. There’s really bad people out there folks.
(Ironically, we found our 6 month old Great Pyrenees puppy on Craigslist on a late night, can’t sleep search-she was being rehomed due to a lack of space and time. We lucked out on a great dog.)

Always be careful on Craigslist, there have been people there getting kittens and using them for shark bait! I would kill anyone I caught doing such a thing to a poor kitty. I love them all!!
A propos of nothing, that is a cute squirrel picture!
She had two squirrelettes that spring. One of them is still around here.
