I watched that interview. Trump was terrific in all that he said, including, when asked, that it was going to be his honor soon to be the commander in chief of the men on the field. The Post could have mentioned that. It didn’t. Trump did not say Army/Navy football isn’t the best football, especially after talking so highly of the wonderful spirit that surrounds the game. What he said was that Army/Navy isn’t “necessarily” the best football. And it isn’t if one takes the measure of good/better/best football by contrasting the athletic prowess, speed, and skills of the cadets and middies players against Alabama, Ohio State, and other football factories. In context, that’s what he was talking about. Out of context of the entire interview, those who want to fault Trump make it sounds as if he was knocking Army/Navy football. Sure, that makes sense. He attends the Army/Navy game (Hey, he needed no votes. He all ready won.) when he could have been doing anything else and he knocks the game? That’s just silly, to be nice about it.
