Monday morning feel good stories

| November 21, 2016

A woman in Tulsa, Oklahoma, called police to let them know that there was an intruder in her home. While she had the police on the phone, she advised them that she has fired a shot at him. the police arrived at the scene and found the intruder with a gun shot wound to his abdomen.

Officer Spencer Bernsten of the Bremerton (Washington)Police Department responded to a call about Kenneth Jackey Lane. When his taser failed and his radio crapped the bed, Lane got the upper hand in an altercation with the officer. Two bystanders responded and helped Bernstein subdue the criminal.

Over the weekend, we discussed the homeowner in Louisville, Kentucky who shot at two criminals that broke down her door, killing one DRT. Turns out the the pair were Aaron J. McDuffie and Eric L. Gathright Jr., both 23. Gathright is the DRT, and since the police aren’t charging the homeowner, someone has to pay, so McDuffie is being charged with his partner’s felony murder.

Two criminals break into an occupied home. The Lady of the house shot one dead, and the other will now face Felony Murder charges in the death. Thuggery has to be one of the most stupid vocations there is. We law abiding citizens are armed, and hell bent on protecting what is ours, whether it be our lives, our family and friends or our goods. We will shoot you.

Don’t pick a fight with a cop. It’s just dumb. And, no, not everyone is going to blame the cop for it, you moron.

Here is a another feel-good story for you.

As a VA Volunteer working directly with our hospitalized veterans, I also meet with the family members from time to time. One of our newer patients, Navy Veteran, had no family in the area. He thought his sister from Arizona was flying into town to visit with him. She never showed up.

I was able to get the sister’s phone number and called her up to find out what the delay was. It was next weekend that she was going to be in town visiting with her brother.

The sister asked me who I was. When I told her I was a VA Volunteer, she repeatedly thanked me for spending time with her Navy Veteran brother.

It’s kind of nice to get feedback like that from the family members. It makes it less stressful on me when I am working with our sick and injured veterans.

Become a VA Volunteer. It will change you forever.
