Clintoon: “Colin Told Me to Do It.” Powell: “Um, No I Didn’t.”
Readers by now have probably heard about Clintoon’s claim – in a soon-to-be-published book – that former SECSTATE Colin Powell recommended to her that she use private email for everything except classified communications.
Well, it seems that there’s a bit of a difference of opinion on that point.
In the book, Clintoon apparently claims Powell and she had a conversation concerning the matter in which he told her to use private email for unclassified matters. However, Powell flatly states that he doesn’t recall any such conversation.
And while Powell did in fact send Clintoon a memo describing how he used email while SECSTATE, that memo was apparently sent to Clintoon over a year after she took office. She started using private email shortly after taking office as SECSTATE.
Hmm. A Clintoon making statements that on investigation turn out not to be true.
Figures. Simply more Clintoon “business as usual”.

Nothing to see here. Move along.
The email matter concerns me for a reason apparently unexplored by the originators of this Powell angle. Why would a Secretary of State even broach this issue with a former Secretary of State? What was Wide Load’s concern such that a year after taking her seat in the oBaMa cabinet and some four years after Powell left the office she was moved to discuss mail routing with him? He didn’t just send her a memo about emails out of the blue. The two reportedly talked at some dinner attended by a few former Secretaries of State and the memo followed. That makes sense, that there would be talk first and email second. But why the discussion and why the memo if she was not thinking ahead to covering her tracks? If one wants to know the rules for email use, asking a private citizen who used to be a government official is not the way to go.
Does this matter have anything remotely to do with the NSA’s second Snowden-type leaks?
She’s just a POS. I have been on several Lib sites and they continually deny, deny, deny. I can post links with the facts and I get replies like this:
“I hope you’ll never need a lawyer as good as HRC!”(AYFKM???)
“Julian Assange is a traitor! Those DNC emails have nothing to do with HRC.” (Me: newsflash–Assange is an Aussie who exposed the corruption of the DNC to make HRC the nominee and BTW, you should actually be more worried about who else has hacked the servers of others in Top positions because we need to know what THEY are doing with the emails and whether it is compromising our troops and our allies.)
“She wasn’t indicted.” (Me: It doesn’t change the fact that she lied and compromised Nat’l Security, does it?)
There are now 15k more emails that, you know, were “found” which means HRC lied again. Stop. the. madness. FFS.
‘a lawyer as good as HRC’ – HRC, who couldn’t pass the bar exam!
Yes, by golly, denial is NOT just a river in Egypt!
I see the Associated Press is now concerned about innocent people hurt by Wikileaks —

Those idiots would willingly live in George Orwell’s 1984ville.
I guess this is payback for him endorsing Obama?
One thing bugging me this whole time: All she had to do was go to State Department’s IT folks and say, “I need the ability to legally send and receive classiifed information with electronic devices, including a Blackberry or laptop while traveling. Make it happen.” Why didn’t she? Hell, President Obama even had the NSA make him a secure Blackberry. http://money.cnn.com/2014/05/22/technology/security/nsa-obama-blackberry/
Yep. And installing that type of IT infrastructure at her residence(s) would have been trivial from a technical perspective. Costly, but technically trivial. Installing the unclassified versions (to allow unclassified comms using the appropriate govt systems) would have been even easier, and much less costly.
Of course, those systems – being owned by the US govt – would also have been subject to Federal law and regulations regarding archiving, records retention, and FOIA requests. That suggests one rather obvious possibility regarding why that never happened.
Hondo..My man of honor and Army friend has worked for IBM for the last 20 years. He manages the Forest Service “system” and often speaks of its archaic platforms. I mean, I already know…but where the f…did the money go to update this stuff, FFS????
#USGovtSOS
My own view is also that the private server was set up specifically to avoid FOIA requests. The mishandling of classified material was secondary to the real intent which was influence peddling. If you wanted to have Hillary, as SOS, act on your behalf, the chances were better if you made a donation to the Clinton Foundation. It wasn’t a matter of not being able to get, for example, the NSA to provide secure email; it was a matter of not wanting the NSA involved.
A recent PRESS RELEASE gives a clearer idea of what was in some of the deleted email, and how Huma Abedin acted as a conduit. Such “donations” could then be used to help finance Hillary’s current campaign.
If you think about it, it’s pretty much a textbook definition of corruption.
FWIW, I’m also somewhat sympathetic with the position the FBI has been placed in. There’s a big difference between the kind of circumstantial evidence pointing towards a crime, and concrete evidence allowing you to drag somebody into court.
Gee. You don’t say.
Stay tuned. (smile)
Except that if she used the private unauthorized server in government business, the emails still become government property, with no expectation of privacy. That is told to every government employee when they sign on and every government system tells you that when you turn it on. The FEEBs had her dead to rights on at least six felonies, and the boss man took a dive on it. As did the corrupt attorney general.
Sounds just like the claim she made of being named after Sir Edmund Hillary, but she was born 6 years before he became famous. Maybe Cankles can see the future?

Sounds like a huge story
You’d hear about that if she was Republican, but as is, not so much

Colin Powell did advise her to use a private E-Mail but not a private E-mail server.
