Soldiers killed while helping woman

Prins Judge

Devtun sends us a link to the sad news that Staff Sergeant Charles Allen Judge Jr., 40, and Jonathon Michael Prins, 29 were murdered by Joseph Mills, 25 in South Carolina when they tried to help a woman who they saw being assaulted by Mills;

Mills was physically assaulting a woman who several patrons at the Lake Murray bar and the soldiers separated him from her. Mills then shot the soldiers with a handgun, the warrants state.

Lexington County Sheriff’s spokesman Capt. Adam Myrick said the woman was seriously injured in the attack.

Mills claims that woman stole his drugs;

Judge Arthur Myers denied bond for Mills on Monday. He warned Mills plenty of times not to speak during his hearing, but Mills ignored the requests. He tried to explain what happened to Myers.

“I’m very sorry about what happened,” Mills said. “I never meant for it to happen like that. I was being lynched by eight people because I was chasing a girl who grabbed drugs off the seat and took off running.”

Yeah, he should have taken the judge’s advice. That admission doesn’t help him.

Fuck this douchebag. I hope he gets violently killed by his roommates in the hoosegow.

Lesson I learned early, in anything that looks like a domestic fight situation it’s important to disable the male before doing anything else…I have a three inch scar inside my right forearm to remind me that just separating them isn’t enough. Fortunately the guy had a knife only and thought that slashing instead of stabbing was the correct way to knife fight….after getting cut I put him out and trussed him up until the police arrived…but it could have gone another way entirely.

Ex-PH2

Good advice, VOV. I will remember it.

Pinto Nag

Just because someone is hammering someone with their fists, doesn’t mean they don’t have a knife or a gun as well. Always, ALWAYS expect there to be a weapon, particularly if you are near an assailant’s vehicle.

Doc Savage

I hope he burns in hell.

Two brave souls lost.

“I never meant for it to happen like that. I was being lynched.”

Had to get that victim card out. But it’s looking a little tattered.

The Other Whitey

No tree. No rope. No lynching. Fuck off. Questions?

Roh-Dog

My suggestion for retributive justice:
1. Dig a hole
2. Throw in Mr. Mills
3. Bury Mr. Mills alive
4. (Optional) grab some good ol’ SouffKacalackey barbecue.

RIP Brothers.

Apparently some other people pulled him off the woman, at which point he pulled the gun and fired off some shots. That’s when the two NCO’s became involved and were trying to talk him down and he just casually shot them both.

Key words for me in that article: “ran towards the gunfire” – doesn’t sound to me like these two were in the process of lynching a poor unarmed man.

The Other Whitey

They better get posthumous Soldier’s Medals, then. They were trying to nonviolently defuse an already-violent situation. Sounds like heroism to me.

Pinto Nag

Sorry, but the last thing I would do to a gunman would be attempt to talk to him. I’d either get the hell outta range, or take him down. Talk to him AFTER he’s cuffed, not while he’s still holding a gun.

The Other Whitey

Not saying it’s what I’d do, but they were undoubtedly brave as hell and trying to prevent others from coming to harm.

Ghost Morgan

In his future what he’ll receive in prison showers won’t be called a “lynching”. It’s termed prison rape!!! It’ll be alright I’m sure they won’t mean for it to happen…

Judge Arthur Myers, a Lexington County magistrate, denied bond for Mills at a hearing Monday afternoon. When asked if he understood the charges against him, Mills said, “Not really.”

Genius…

Graybeard

It’s the drugs, man.

I have a teenage son. When he tells me he doesn’t understand something, it generally means he doesn’t **WANT** to understand, and he is hoping that if I explain enough, he can find a loophole.

Fortunately, I am confident he will grow out of this habit. Unfortunately, I feel that Mr. Mills never will.

Veritas Omnia Vincit

You’re a lot more polite than my old man, if I ever said I didn’t understand he’d smack me in the head and asked if that helped….we never said we didn’t understand after that. I never wanted to find out if a smack in the head didn’t work what would be next.

I’m familiar with that kind of upbringing.

Not possible since he was in a bar, which almost certainly would be a gun-free zone. Arrest the gun for trespassing.

Ex-PH2

RIP, these two who tried to help.

If Mills does not get a heavy sentence for what he did, I will be very disappointed and want to know why.

B Woodman

I just hope and pray that there are several military in the same prison (serving light, non-violent sentences, due to be released soon) that can extract justice against this douche.

He’d better pray himself that he gets solitary.

B Woodman

“He had the right to remain silent, he just didn’t have the ability.”

Close enough?

The Other Whitey

He just didn’t have the intelligence.

There, fixed it for ya.

Hopefully this sack of shit gets prison-raped to death. To paraphrase a line from the better “Punisher” movie: “If I want you dead, I can leave you in jail, where we have friends, and you’ll be taken care of in a way that I can only describe as *deeply* pornographic.”

“From the footage, there’s a woman running from the far side of the parking lot, darting back and forth like she doesn’t know which way to go,” Brooks said. The woman went past the restaurant’s front door and ran toward a dock area in the back, he said.

The suspect tackled the woman and started hitting and kicking her, the owner said. A group of about 10 people pulled him off, causing him to fall about a foot from the docks to the ground, he said.
“He pulls out his gun, starts shooting in the air,” Brooks said. Everybody runs except for one gentleman. Even though the gun was there, he was standing there – it looked like he was trying to get the gun. The gentleman’s wife was pulling him away as he was trying to get to the shooter.”
Mills would say later in a court hearing that the woman had run off with drugs and he felt as if he was being lynched.

The gunman got back on the docks and started looking for the woman, Brooks said. That’s when the soldiers arrived. The two had been on a boat docked near the restaurant with friends. They ran a long distance to get to the gunman after hearing the shots, Brooks said.

“The first one that approaches him has his hands up in the air, like, ‘Let’s slow down and talk about this,’ ” Brooks said. Then, he said, the second soldier came up. Both soldiers were no more than two to five feet from the gunman.

He has an arrest for Criminal Domestic Violence in 2014, I haven’t been able to find what the disposition was of the case
