Charge dropped against Kyle Carpenter
Late last year we reported that Medal of Honor recipient Kyle Carpenter was charged with hit and run in Columbia, South Carolina. 3E9 sends a link to the news that charges were dropped in April;
An incident report said Carpenter also made an improper turn by going into the outside lane instead of the inside lane. That charge was disposed after Carpenter paid a $237.50 fine, according to Richland County’s judicial website.
We’re glad that it worked out for him.

Is he running for office? An individual had a moving violation. The fact that he is a MoH recipient has no bearing. A1C John Levitow has said in the past that he was the biggest dirtbag Airmen you ever saw. His bravery and heroics in a moment in time did not change that. Sorry, I just don’t see the need for the paper to print this.
It’s news here because he is a SC resident and one of our few MoH recipients. As a former LEO in SC from what I know of the incident it would have been a stretch to get a conviction. I’m not privy to the details, but based on what was reported I think the Leaving the Scene should have been dropped.
I went back and realized this story was written by FoxNews. The details included lead to the fact he tried to do the right thing and only left when the individual, under his own power, walked to the side of the road. Then, when I figure he was informed of a warrant, he turned himself in the accept responsibility. I could not form an impression from the article if it was painting a positive or negative light. Now it appears as if the law treated him fairly, which I am proud to see happen (as it doesn’t always).
What I cannot understand is why this is national news. (I cannot understand why the Kardashians are either for that matter.) If he was a silver star recipient, would this have made national news?
My point is why write about it at all. Those who have been decorated for valor, especially of the highest since, are still human and make mistakes. Why is the national spotlight being shined upon their negative public interactions. Are we going to start getting progress reports on his college classes?
Just my opinion.
Your last sentence is a giggle, gratc.
Why are the kartrashians important? They aren’t. They are stupid people who have a lot of money that they didn’t earn. They are useless trash that no one with any sense pays attention to, but there is a whole population demographic that feeds on this trash the way tapeworms feed on their hosts.
That’s the best I can do to explain it.
Good job explaining. I was flipping through the channels (a long time ago Bruce was still a dude) and came across their show. I thought that I’d stop for a minute to see what tall the hype was about. Well, I’ll never get those three minutes back. I think I was actually dumber after watching that show for a few.
They make money off off showing the young ladies of America how to be trashy sluts. Trouble is the young ladies looking up to them will never be rich.
Bring back Andy Griffith!
The link I sent in was from a local news outlet in SC.
I asked an editor why whenever someone is charged with any crime, from jay-walking to felonious mopery, the person’s veteran status is the headline. I further asked if it make the crime worse.
He said it does not make the crime worse. He said what’s worse is the person betrayed the public trust by going against the oath he or she took.
So, I gather from the editor, it doesn’t make the crime worse; it makes the crime worse.
“person betrayed the public trust by going against the oath he or she took.” So Hillary needs the death penalty?
Nope. Life without parole. Death is far too easy. I want her to suffer.
Then make her stuff her cankels into some platform stripper heels and wear them for 10 hours a day, eat DFAX chow and “hold” Bills cigar.
” felonius mopery” LOVE it!!! Make a great name for a band!
“felonious mopery” as in exposing yourself to a blind person?
Or “felonious mopery” with intent to gawk?
No, that would be Aggravated Mopery and Unlawful Possession of a Rape tool
But you do see the need to comment on it, even though you think the paper doesn’t need to print it.
Aren’t you doing what you just said others shouldn’t do?
Yes.
Yes. AND I want to see those progress reports in college as well. Because just because he wasn’t one of my Marines, he’s still one of my Marines.
In other news, that same month 59,435 people made improper left and right turns nationwide, were cited, paid their fines and the news paid no attention at all.
The “victim” was not hurt and continued to the gym to workout. Meanwhile everybody and his brother wrote about the December 2015 “Hit and run!” but far fewer will carry the update and those who do will bury it. The bottom line is this was clearly bullshit. He pulled over, put on his hazards, and when he learned that the “victim” was good to go, he left. I would have done the same thing.
Then you’d be wrong. Anywhere I’ve ever lived, if your vehicle comes in contact with an exposed human body, hurt or not, the driver of the vehicle has to report it. Period. Or it’s hit-and-run, and you can face charges.
Then I would face charges but I would not be wrong as a matter of conscience.
I should apologize for the tone of my comment, AC. I agree with you, that adults should be able to assess a situation like that without having to involve the police. I’ve been typing on the fly lately, and some of what I’ve posted has been pretty terse.
Am I the only heterosexual man here with a massive man-crush on Kyle Carpenter? Just Asking.
Yes.
Yes, yes you are.
Probably.
More than likely, yes.
Damn brother, don’t know if I’d of told that.
SI, at least I understood that you were expressing your admiration for how that young man came back from devastating injuries, as evidenced by the terrible scars on every exposed bit of flesh in that picture.
The rest of you need to get your minds out of the gutter!
The Blues were upstairs today practicing. Only saw five aircraft. Not saying #6 is missing, but only saw five.
HMC, don’t forget, RIP to Angel #6 on 2 June at Smyrna, TN.
Maybe no replacement/train up time yet?
Yeah, my thoughts. He rode that thing down to a mostly unpopulated area. What a man. This town goes crazy for the Blues and rightly so.
I’ve seen them a few times this week and only five planes.
Also, there is an article in today’s Navy Times about them ending their operational pause as of today, and will do their shows with only five until a replacement has been selected.
Thanks for the info
You’re Welcome.
My understanding is that they just can’t add in another pilot.
Violated his oath? Seems a bit of a stretch.
Who commented that? Seems to me his oath was firmly cemented previous to this incident. However, very glad no one was seriously hurt.
I wonder if Rob O’Neil is going to get the same deal?
Just a observation.
