The political opinions at VFW halls
The Veterans of Foreign Wars took exception to something the President said the other day. Apparently, Obama doesn’t like that veterans are talking about his policies in a disparaging manner, according to the Washington Times (the emphasis is mine);
During a speech Wednesday in Elkhart, Indiana Mr. Obama said, “I’m concerned when I watch the direction of our politics. I mean, we have been hearing this story for decades — tales about welfare queens, talking about takers, talking about the 47 percent. It’s the story that’s broadcast every day on some cable news stations, on right-wing radio. It’s pumped into cars and bars and VFW halls all across America, and right here in Elkhart.”
The president went on, “If you’re hearing that story all the time, you start believing it. It’s no wonder people think big government is the problem. No wonder public support for unions is so low. No wonder that people think the deficit has gone up under my presidency when it’s actually gone down.”
First of all, a debt of ten trillion dollars to a deficit of 19 trillion dollars is not “gone done”. Secondly, the discussions in “VFW halls” is no less valid than the discussion anywhere else. The VFW National Commander John A. Biedrzycki Jr. responded;
“I don’t know how many VFW posts the president has ever visited…but our near 1.7 million members are a direct reflection of America, which means we represent every generation, race, religion, gender and political and ideological viewpoint.”
He added, “We don’t have confused politics, we don’t need left- or right-wing media filters telling us how to think or vote, and we don’t need any president of the United States lecturing us about how we are individually effected by the economy.”
I’m guessing that the number of VFW halls that the president has visited would be ‘zero’, about the same number of discussions that he’s heard about the failings of his administration.

I doubt he gives a flying F$@K about the military/vets until it’s time for an occasional mandatory speaking engagement and then his handlers tell him what to say. Or until he has to veto a pay raise for AD b/c it is a budget buster. Then he’s forced to make a bullshit speech about how much he values and respects the military but such a pay increase at this time is unsound fiscal policy. Or some such bullshit. Why do I never hear a speech about reducing welfare spending or spending for illegals? Yeah, I know. It’s a rhetorical question.
He has audacity to appear before hardened veterans who have gone in harm’s way and suggest what they should think and the type of radio they should listen to. Damn near all MSM is an extension of the DNC and he thinks VFW members should avoid listening to Limbaugh or a few others like him? What is he afraid of? Is he concerned some with leanings to the left will understand the insanity that is the liberal agenda?

Right-it’s not like people have actual experience dealing with bureaucratic pettiness or the frustrations of trying to navigate government regulations or anything like that. Nope, just “cable news” and “right-wing radio”, because people are so much more likely to believe those things than their own eyes and ears.

Makes me think about joining the VFW.
We gotta understand the difference between the deficit and the public debt. The deficit is what the country spends over and above what it receives in revenue. The debt is what we owe to the American Public in bond sales sold to whoever (think Chinese) to finance the deficit.
And the President doesn’t reduce the deficit. Only Congress can appropriate money to give to the President and the executive agencies to spend. So if anybody reduced the deficit it’s the Congress. And if anybody ran up the debt it’s also Congress> Remember, the Democrat party controlled Congress until 2012.
Seriously, I can’t stand this pretend POTUS..he just plain sucks.
He only USES the military or a few vets as props for furthering his perverted social engineering agenda.
I was in from Nixon thru Carter, and Obama makes Carter who was at least amicable and moral in outlook, look like a genius with his policies and it was not so good then, no spare parts, old faulty equipment..I think once we only had 6 mission capable F-111D’s for a few months in 77 and 1 of those collapsed on its nose gear one afternoon after the wing commander made his minimum mandatory stick time….from the things I’ve read and heard we seem to be back in that same situation but worse, troops are getting shot at for one…we were not being shot at in 77

I don’t need Fox News or the RNC or the VFW to sell talking points. I see the welfare queens and moochers right before my eyes on a daily basis.
I see people quitting jobs so they don’t make too much, lest they lose their food stamps, Section 8, SCHIP, and EIC money at tax time (that one really burns my ass.) I see them loading up on shit I pay for with my taxes, but there’s no way in hell I can come close to affording that. God help me if I try to work under the table, but recently it was ESTIMATED over 1/3 of the labor force in Los Angeles County is being paid in cash; meaning no taxes, no disability insurance, etc., being paid to California. Let the suckers pay that tab.
And then they wonder why we have no faith in government. Oh I dunno, Barruh–maybe because you created this warm runny pile of shit?
