Just Another Refugee Making A Living In the USA

| June 2, 2016

Yusuf Abdi Ali
Isn’t it great?  We have a wonderful  story today from the DC Metro area.

It’s a story of a man fleeing chaos in Somalia.  He moved to America decades ago, around the time that Somalia descended into chaos.  He’s now a lawful permanent resident.  He’s made a wonderful life for himself here in America.

In fact, he’s been working as a security guard at a DC area airport for several years – Dulles, to be precise.  If you’ve flown in/out of Dulles in the past few years, there’s at least a small chance you’ve seen him inside the security perimeter at that airport.

Sounds nice, doesn’t it?  Heartwarming, even.

Until you find out that the man involved – Yusuf Abdi Ali – is a former official of the brutal Mohamed Siad Barre regime in Somalia.  He was named in 2006 as a defendant in a lawsuit alleging serious human rights violations – specifically, of overseeing torture, as well as personally conducting it.  The acts Ali has been accused of committing may well qualify as war crimes under both US and international law.

And it gets even better.  Apparently the US government has been aware of the allegations against Ali for “years”.  However, per his employer somehow Ali passed all required security background checks to work at Dulles.  He was only recently suspended from duties and placed on administrative leave.

Fox News has an article giving more details.  IMO it’s worth reading.

But don’t worry.  We’ve got a good handle on refugee vetting, and on controlling who is allowed entry into the USA!

Everybody’s fired !!!

Green Thumb

I saw this on the news.

Maggot.

And we have good, honest people here who have a hard time finding stable work.

I wonder if Obummer has had him over for supper?

Veritas Omnia Vincit

Nice to see that the people overseeing the entry points into the US are so thoroughly investigated before being allowed to work in an airport in the fucking capital of the nation…

Maybe we can get some ISIS refugees to work for the TSA screeners at O’Hare or JFK….

Where do we find these fucking idiots who are in charge of this stuff?

Veritas Omnia Vincit

Understood, but geez if we can’t keep torturing scumbags from working security at an airport in the nation’s capital….I’m wondering where we do draw the line…

GDContractor

We don’t draw it with Ugandans in Iraq! I wonder what was in some of their backgrounds, although it is surely impossible to ever find out.

Joan Kautz Ellis

Unfortunately, many third party employers use one of the online “background checks”, of which you can write in and “OPT OUT” to get your items that are subject to public disclosure removed.
Plus it is my understanding, it cost money to check out a individual’s REAL background, and most will not pay that fee.
The $35.00 a month fee is “good enough” for hire.

Skippy

Let’s guess it’s paid leave to… ????

Sparks

That’s what I thought when I read administrative leave.

I retired from the Army in 2012, with a current TS/SBI. I went to work as a contractor with DHS/CBP in 2014, and STILL had to repeat the entire TS/SBI background check because DHS won’t accept a DOD clearance. Yet this assclown skates through? If Obama had a brother… Oh wait…

Arby

Amen to that. DHS is so f*cked up on their clearances. They would not even accept my TS/SCI for their lowest clearance which is just above FOUO and below Confidential. Once I finally got it, I was truly horrified to see how they actually handle classified materials.

OSC(SW) Retired

DHS didn’t give him a clearance. But yes you are both correct, DHS has no reciprocity in clearances and I had to go through a new BI to get a DHS public trust position even though I still had an active S with DoD. And yes I also agree that after all of that, I have seen some pretty awful opsec and comsec at DHS.

There is a great deal of money paid to “former special agents X, Y, and Z”, and their new employers, to run those checks.

They might have to go find jobs elsewhere, and that would put a dent in the incomes of those who lobby….

You get the picture, and the shaft.

Why do ya’ll keep bringing the President into this? Just wondering.

SFC D

Because given his preferred action of injecting himself into every situation that does not need Presidential attention, I’m supporting him by injecting him into situations that he’d normally chime in on. I’m saving him the time and effort, allowing him to attend to more pressing matters, such as tee times.

Airdale (AW) USN ret.

Yeah, ok.

“However, per his employer somehow Ali passed all required security background checks to work at Dulles.”

1) Has the applicant ever been convicted of a crime? If yes, explain in detail and attach copies of court records, if available.

2) Has the applicant ever been accused of expressing negative views of members of the LGBT community?

NOTE: An affirmative answer to either question #1 or #2 shall result in termination of the employment process.

ANOTHER fine example of Government competence.

I feel all damp and moldy about this story.

Hack Stone

He is just committing the war crimes that Americans are not willing to do.

USMCMSgt(Ret)

Nice one.

Mick

I see what you did there, Hack.

Hack Stone

He can always lat move over to Ambassador World Wide Protective Services. Turd Bolling can impress him with his SEAL stories.

Right after 9/11 I was flying through DCA, the man in front of me was a highly decorated US Marine in a dress uniform. The immigrant from the AfPak region running the security gate tried to force the Marine to de-blouse because his medals were setting off the metal detector. Cooler heads prevailed when the supervisor took over, but the irony was not lost.

David

A few years back Joe Foss almost had his Medal of Honor confiscated because it ‘had points’. Ironically he was on his way to address West Point’s graduation. TSA ain’t known for common sense.

2/17 Air Cav

But TSA is known for theft and playing with titties.

And testicles.

In case anyone is unaware of what David is referring to.

Dealing with TSA on a weekly basis, I have no comment other than the smart ones they hire never make it through the probationary period.

OSC(SW) Retired

A couple years back this happened to a Joint Chiefs Jsomething or other (Lt. Gen) flying out of SFO. A couple slight differences were that SFO has private screeners, not TSA but supervised and managed by TSA and the guy in line behind him was a middle management TSA turd (me a retired Navy Chief) who called the TSA regional director at the time (a retired Navy O6) who quickly calibrated a federal security director (a former area police chief). All in five or six minutes I got to reach out and piss off a bunch of people and and astound a Marine General about how damn influential a Navy Chief is. He actually said something like “Damn Chief, I knew they held you guys in high regard, but damn that was impressive!” I laugh about it still.

Goat humper.

Siad Barre was as brutal as they come. Mid 80’s I was on a MTT working at a compound on Baledogle Airfield. Barre came to visit the Chinese techs that kept the Migs flying and some of the locals had come out. When his motorcade left some of the locals didn’t get out of the road fast enough and they opened fire on them. That was his SOP in Mogadishu locals would literally take off running when his motorcade came barreling through. Karma is a bitch! I’m sure Yusef thought he’d come to America and escaped his past and maybe he has.

Old 1SG, US Army (retired)

I’m surprised he hasn’t been hired by the TSA…

Maybe “All Points” will pick him up for the next secret squirrel contract that they land…

Tony180a

Off topic but a Navy Blue Angel just crashed in Smyrna, Tn and an Air Force Thunderbird crashes after USAF Academy flyover. Within hours of each other on the same day…. WTF.

Eden

Oh, dear God. As much as their flying budget has been cut, is it any wonder? I still remember when the Thunderbird lead stuck it up like a dart and two of the others followed him in.

Tony180a

Marine Cpt Jeff Kuss was killed. Initially the news reported that he struck a bowling alley on impact but that was not correct. He crashed in a field avoiding an apartment building 100 yards away. God rest his soul and prayers to his family.

AW1Ed

Clearly, he didn’t want to…

Sapper3307

We hade a refugee next door in New Hampshire. It turns out she was the commander of her own death squad in Africa. She was on the list of known war criminal’s but still got into the U.S with full benefits. Its a good thing we vet all these victims when they show up.

Silentium Est Aureum

And even if she was found guilty she’d still be looking at a decade before risking deportation.
