Monroe Jackson; update on the military scammer
OLD98Z sends us an update on this Monroe Jackson fellow who was arrested in Pike County, West Virginia Kentucky for taking contributions to help veterans, but the only veteran getting the money was Monroe Jackson;
Jackson says he never outright told anyone he was a military officer but admitted he was misleading.
“I claimed I had a military officer hat on,” he said, “and I had a captain’s emblem on. I didn’t tell them I was a Navy captain. I was a Navy veteran. People are not going to help a veteran that is looking homeless.”
Jackson also told WSAZ he spent some of the money he collected from strangers on gasoline and car repairs.
He claims he gave the rest, not to veterans centers, but to local vets individually.
“I feel like my goal was reached,” he said.
The Pikes County Sheriff Department says that Jackson is indeed a Navy veteran, but not an officer.
The police have asked for the names of the veterans to whom Jackson gave the money, but he refuses to do so, claiming that he’s protecting their privacy. So, let me guess – their names were all coincidentally Monroe Jackson. Apparently, he has been arrested for this scam in the past in West Virginia.

There is no Pike County in WV. No reason to doubt his arrest, just saying there is no Pike County there.
