Thursday morning feel good stories
Amy sends us our first story from Houston, Texas, where two enterprising youths disguised themselves as the gas company meter readers. The homeowner led the pair to his meter in the back, but he was suspicious so he armed himself, just before the duo forced their way into the home. The homeowner fired at them, hitting one who stuck around for the police. The other un-assed the AO and police are still searching for him. You’ll probably recognize him by the big brown stain in the seat of his pants.
In Moore, Oklahoma, some guy got angry for some stupid, unexplained reason and went to his home to get his gun. His wife tried to calm him, but he shot her in the head (she’s in the hospital recovering, but in serious condition). Then he went to his neighbor’s house, fired a round through the door and kicked it in. The neighbor made him DRT (dead right there) ending his rampage.
In San Antonio, Texas, two fellows broke into a man’s home with bad intentions. He greeted them at the door with his shotgun and gave them a two round salute. They un-assed the AO, but emerged at the hospital a little later, one with head wound, the other with a “shotgun wound” and they’re facing burglary charges.
Tim E. sends us a link to a different kind of story in Phoenix, Arizona , Jose Perez-Torres, 21, and Eric A. Hernandez-Tellez, 19 tried their hand at home invasions. When they went through the door, Tellez led and Torres had the gun. Torres tripped and accidentally discharged the weapon at his partner who was DRT (dead right there). Torres is facing 1st degree murder charges.

Ah, yes, the old gas meter ploy. Usually, the gas company people have EDs that can read the meter from the alley or the street. I never see the gas guy, but I always check the bill against the date I took the reading myself.
In the Oklahoma story, I do hope the lady recovers from her injury without any disability from it.
Yep. Waiting for the gas meter reader to show up at my bunker.
We’re all electric.
I’d be curious to know if utilities are using “smart meters” for their gas like they do for electric meters.
We have one on my house and I’ve yet to see a meter reader since it was installed.
Yaaaaaaaaa. Two DRTs! Even if one was “self inflicted” by his partner-in-crime.
What a wonderful way to start the day.
Imagine that. Self-cancelling criminals. What a concept!
I want to know, how did the good people of Phoenix manage to train their hoodlums to do their work for them. This is something that other cities need. Not only is the trash taking itself to the curb it is hauling it all the way to the landfill. This is truly a breakthrough development in crime fighting.
“…hauling it all the way to the landfill”
You owe me a keyboard. No spew alert? (kidding)
Looks like Mr. Torres is going to learn how to keep his boogerpicker of the bangswitch, forever.
Speedy recovery to the lady in Moore. Damn shame.
Hmm – 7 total perps, with 2 DRT (one by citizen, one by another perp), 3 wounded and in custody, a 6th in custody and facing murder charges, and a 7th on the run and looking for new skivvies and trousers.
That’s like going 5-for-6 with 1 HR, 3 doubles, and a single – plus scoring on what turns out to be a 4-base error. Not a bad “day at the plate” for the law-abiding crowd.
Damn shame about the lady getting nailed by her former husband.
Finally got some DRTs this week. Not that I’m bloodthirsty, just a taxpayer and do like to see the weeds pulled from the garden. Somewhat disappointed as I live in Texas and no Texas DRTs.
A friend of mine is a virulent anti-gunner. I’d love to show him just these posts, to show him that good people with guns are not irresponsible, do prevent many, many crimes, and that when seconds count, the police are just minutes away–if not hours.
I’ve taken to reading these in the evening so I can go to bed with happy thoughts.
