The latest migration

Thousands of refugees have flowed into Southern and Eastern Europe in the last few weeks. Many are fleeing the civil war in Syria. Although Lebanon and Jordan have shouldered some of the burden of refugees, other countries in the region have turned their backs, preferring the war aspect with no sense of responsibility for the victims of the war.
The media loves to show pictures of the refugees, but mostly they focus on the women and children making their way north. However, the videos of the crowds show that the majority of them are actually military-age males. Males who should be solving the problems in their respective countries rather than fleeing from those problems.
There are reports that ISIS has vowed to take advantage of the refugee crisis to infiltrate Europe and their current “open border” policies.
In addition, Europe already has an economic crisis and they’re hardly prepared for this new burden on their economies. Nor are they prepared for the security concerns and thousands of military age men who will eventually become frustrated by the way Europe will handle this crisis, because nothing good ever happens soon enough for refugees. Especially for this crowd coming from the perpetually outraged Middle East.
Europe would be better off convincing the Saudis and their neighbors, the Gulf states, to pick up their end of the rope. But, fat chance. They’ve never lifted a finger to do anything to alleviate the problems of Palestinian refugees, so it’s not likely that they do anything for this latest bunch. Still, in the words of German Chancellor Angela Merkel in regards to the treatment of the refugees, “the world is watching”, so why isn’t the “world watching” the Arabs?

John,
As usual you have hit all the high points right on the head. This is also happening in the U.S. under the auspices of the U.S. Refugee Assistance Program. The current admin has ensured only one category of “refugee” is able to use this program. Of course they are all members of the “religion of peace” and they are flooding this country all under the radar.
I guess Obama’s “Red Line” lie has consequences. No doubt the media will call him out on this any minute now.
My wife comes from a small village near Schweinfurt. Maybe 2,000 population on a good day. “Migrants,” “refugees,” whatever you want to call them have already moved in there…and they’ve already started fighting! About a week ago, a group of poor refugees got into an argument and one stabbed the other. Probably the first stabbing in that place in about 500 years!
My brother- and father-in-law are beside themselves with anger. They cannot believe that Merkel has said that there will be NO LIMIT to the number of refugees who can come to Germany. Read that again: NO LIMIT!
Then there are my stepdaughters. One lives in Munich, the other in New Zealand (though she is still very Deutsch). They are the poster children of bleeding heart liberals. They FEEL that we all MUST help the poor women and children (though they’re mostly men). It’s our DUTY. Blah, blah, blah.
My wife, since moving to the US, has seen the light about the Muslims and many other issues…to the dismay of our daughters.
As you can imagine, the dialogue between all parties is heated to say the least. My daughters have already dropped the “You’re a Nazi!”, “You’re an extremist” card on my brother-in-law. They just don’t get it…at all.
Of course, the solution is to declare all these people refugees, with the intent of sending them back when the situation straightens out; however, if anyone thinks that the Germans will establish refugee camps which would resemble the WW2 concentration camps…well, we all know that won’t happen.
So, all these “refugees” will disappear into German society never to be seen again…but their influence will definitely be felt.
I give my daughters about 2 months to start bitching about the “poor people.” Tops.
I think you’re being generous. Give it one month.
I think Iran should be told to take them, if they really want that nuke deal to be finalized. Plenty of room. Plenty of work. Muslim territory. Farmland everywhere. Ideal spot. That, or send them to Siberia. Lots of room there, too.
Here’s some irony for you. I was in Bosnia in ’97 when the big deal in NATO was getting all the refugees from the Balkans because of the slaughtering going on by all sides there. However, by 97 those countries were looking to get those people back to where they belonged.
Germany sent a special team to Bosnia to do assessments that showed “how wonderful” things were there so they could tell the refugees in Germany (who’d been there 3-4 years, at least) that they can go home now. They were not just taking the lead, they were pushing to get people back to the Balkans so they weren’t continuing to be a drain on the economy. (especially in the 90s while they were still dealing with the wall coming down)
It will take a couple years and some new elections, but I imagine that the refugees will get pushed back to where ever they came from after more degradation of the EU economy.
I have some sympathy for the women and children, because they are the most at risk in this. I do not feel at all sorry for the men. I think they are cowards and should be sent home and told to fight.
The alternative is Mars.
Boo hoo. So, a couple and an infant are meandering down some railroad tracks and–wonder of wonders!–a cameraman happens by. What luck! And isn’t this great, the baby just happens to be being carried facing the camera and the adults are looking, clean, neat, and are unburdened by so much as a backpack for diapers. Model refugees. Talk about your one in a million shot! Pulitzer! (Hey, this couldn’t have been posed, could it? Naw.)
You’re just so cynical, 2/17. Next you’ll tell us that most of the pictures and video, that aren’t posed, mostly show young men fleeing.
And, if these young Muslim men are fleeing through the Balkans, why hasn’t Bosnia hung out the Welcome Brother signs? Why hasn’t Albania done the same?
You can see the same thing in Mexico, Central and South Americas. It is easier to just come the the “land of the big PX” than to fix their own countries. Even the former Mexican President Calderon came to our Capital and told us “we” were being racist because a state wanted to protect its borders and prevent his citizens from coming North.
Europe is so egotistical they think this isn’t a big deal and they will just “handle” it as if their countries won’t suffer from it.
At least the Brits were smart enough not to get wrapped up into that EU bullshit.
“Still, in the words of German Chancellor Angela Merkel in regards to the treatment of the refugees, “the world is watching”, so why isn’t the “world watching” the Arabs?”
Hey, that’s racist because they’re Arabs and you’re picking on them….
Yes, you could see the same thing in Vietnam, 40 years ago.

If you scroll down that page, there’s a photo of the refugee city in 1975 at Camp Pendleton.
When Calderon said “where there are Mexicans there is Mexico” I thought he was apologizing as I agreed with him about littering, corruption, DUI, and people acting like the age of consent is 12 that seems to act out wherever Mexicans are. Except for rooster fights and women/male donkey shows he is right.
Now we know where to ship all of our illegals…
Ka…CHING! Give that man a kewpie doll!
LMAO!
One apparently bizarre rationale for keeping refugees out now being used by some of the wealthy Arab countries is that, since the refugees are poor, they wouldn’t be happy going to a rich country because there aren’t any other poor people for them to hang out with.
That and muslim or not, the rich Arabs would do little more than use them for slave labor.
This reminds me of a line from Lawrence of Arabia
T.E. Lawrence: For the Arabs.
Auda abu Tayi: The Arabs? The Howitat, Ajili, Rala, Beni Saha; these I know, I have even heard of the Harif, but the Arabs? What tribe is that?
The Syrians will not be accepted as refugees, just like the “Palestinians”, by other Middle Eastern countries because they are not of their tribe. They can’t be shamed like the west and they just don’t care.
What he said…
There is another element to the “just not caring” when it comes to the Palestinians though. Much as affirmative action activists and race-baiters NEED a certain percentage of blacks to live in poverty to further their own agendas (and careers), the Middle East needs the Palestinians as a rallying cry against Israel. The have a vested interest in not helping too much.
