Yeah, That REALLY Makes Sense

| June 24, 2015

Well, it appears that the current       group of fools and tools running things in DC     Administration has a solution to the problem of American citizens being kidnapped by terrorists.

To help ensure the safety of Americans overseas, they’re going to allow families to pay ransoms to the terrorist if they so desire. And, better yet – they’ll facilitate the families doing so.

No, I’m not joking. I’m dead serious.

Yeah, that will really discourage terrorist organizations like ISIS and al Shabaab from targeting Americans. And it will really ensure that all unfortunate enough to be kidnapped get returned safely.

Sheesh. Does anyone in this Administration have a freaking scrap of common sense? Or a single vertebra in their spine?

When you forget your lessons, you end up re-learning them.

Iffen this here road gits much rougher, I think we’re gonna end up afoot, pard.

Apparently obozo is the only PHOOL left in this country that doesn’t know YOU DO NOT PAYOFF KIDNAPPERS…..PERIOD!

No.

Rudyard Kipling wrote about the whole sordid business with his poem “Dane Geld”
————————————-

IT IS always a temptation to an armed and agile nation
To call upon a neighbour and to say: –
“We invaded you last night – we are quite prepared to fight,
Unless you pay us cash to go away.”

And that is called asking for Dane-geld,
And the people who ask it explain
That you’ve only to pay ’em the Dane-geld
And then you’ll get rid of the Dane!

It is always a temptation for a rich and lazy nation,
To puff and look important and to say: –
“Though we know we should defeat you,
we have not the time to meet you.
We will therefore pay you cash to go away.”

And that is called paying the Dane-geld;
But we’ve proved it again and again,
That if once you have paid him the Dane-geld
You never get rid of the Dane.

It is wrong to put temptation in the path of any nation,
For fear they should succumb and go astray;
So when you are requested to pay up or be molested,
You will find it better policy to say: —

“We never pay any-one Dane-geld,
No matter how trifling the cost;
For the end of that game is oppression and shame,
And the nation that plays it is lost!”

It’s fairly obvious that our current administration has never even heard of Kipling, much less read his work.

Richard

Some of us who read here are old and some of us remember the 70s and the 80s. And I remember the Iranians flipping is the bird for 444 days over the hostages and I remember Terry Waite and the other hostages that the Iranians took in Lebanon and the airplanes that they seized. This is a criminally stupid. More people will be kidnapped. More ransoms will be paid. The money will go into more kidnappings and the cycle will continue until we start cluster-bombing the hostage takers and victims. THEN it will stop.

The Iranians must be looking behind the furniture for the guy playing the joke on them. Any conscious Iranian must refuse to believe that we would be this stupid. After all, it has only been 35 years.

Well if it worked before, it will work again. Look for another Iran-Contra Affair or maybe the our glorious administration will trade hostages for nuclear “power plants” sometimes known as breeder reactors.

Richard

One of my friends from Israel just called me. He just heard this story on the radio and he asked, “Is your president out of his fucking mind?”

In the IDF, if a soldier is kidnapped and he is close but they cannot recover him, they call in armor, artillery and/or an air strike. To a territ a live Israeli soldier hostage is worth a huge amount in political gain and trade. Better that he is dead.

Ex-PH2

I hope you answered the guy’s question with a resounding ‘YES!’

Richard

yes, si, oui, hai, ja, da, aye, shi, juu, und so weiter.

Among other things he said, “There are Americans all over the world. Some people don’t like you. There are lots of jihadists in Europe. This just creates a business opportunity for jihadists to kidnap Americans like those crazy people in Mexico and Columbia. There are 8 million of us but there are 300 million of you. You will need kidnap insurance.”

It was like he just saw a naked emperor and couldn’t stop talking about it. His reaction was breathtaking – stronger than mine and am outraged. It may be much more risky to travel outside the US and that would really suck.

I have this image of someone in the Obama administration calling the Israeli ambassador and asking what he thought about this missive from the good idea fairy. Upon receiving the answer, our correspondent tells El Presidente, “Well he is Israeli therefore he is wrong. We will do the opposite.” It is an approach. Stupid, with all-consequences either unpredictable or negative, but still it is an approach.

Ex-PH2

I am quite glad that you know someone well-grounded in the reality of that part of the world.

Right now, I wouldn’t go to France or most of Europe if someone put a gun to my head and offered me a winning lottery ticket. I’d tell him ‘Just shoot me and keep the money. I ain’t goin’.’

Ex-PH2

You didn’t tell me it was pop quiz time, Hondo.

Q: Does anyone in this Administration have a freaking scrap of common sense?

A: No.

Q: Or a single vertebra in their spine?

A: No.

I think you forgot one question:

Q: Who cough up the money to pay the ransom?

A: We, the taxpayers of this lovely country, will fork it over to the Pirates of the Middle East.

Do I get an A?

Where the hell is John Paul Jones when you need him?

B Woodman

My first thought exactly, PH2. We’re back to the Founding Father’s days of the Barbary Coast Pirates.

Now all we need is some intrepid USMC commander to take the bit in his teeth, disobey Bodaprez, and march into Mecca leaving death and destruction in his path.
“From The Halls of Montezuma. . . . ”
(Gawd, what I wouldn’t give to be there!)

Ex-PH2

I confess that I am completely mystified by the mindlessness that goes with ‘having a big adventure in hostile territory’.

I don’t get that. I hope someone will explain it to me some day, but then I see news reports about a couple who decided to take their kids and go sailing along the east coast of Africa, right into pirate territory (Somalia, which is now split up).

I do NOT understand what makes people like that think they can do these idiotic things and get off scot-free. That entire area is dangerous as hell. Go hiking in the wrong area, on an unmarked border between Iraq and Iran, and you end up in an Iranian jail for – was it 3 years?. And ‘we were just hiking’?????? Volunteer to work in that war zone and you get kidnapped, raped and then bombed to death – but ‘I just wanted to help people’.

And then we get the whining, weeping bios on what good people they all were, but no one bothers to point out how stupid they were to think they could do these things and there would be no consequences for them.

I can’t get my head around how stupid these people are, but they are abundantly stupid.

Maybe I’m too cynical, or maybe I actually recognize that this is a hostile, aggressive world full of people who either want to kill you or see you as a cash cow, and those people live in some daydream that doesn’t exist.

I do not think I will ever understand it.

And this bright little idea of bodaprez’s is even stupider.

As military dependents overseas we were taught to immediately ask for the American council if we were detained by the local cops or military. We were never allowed in any country that did not have a Consulate. No US citizen should expect rescue if they venture into a country without Diplomatic relations with the US. Canada and the Red Cross can’t be expected to mount a rescue mission on people too self absorbed to read the warnings in their passport.

GDContractor

Luckily, we know where John Paul Jones is now…but that was not always the case!

Okay, there will be no prosecution of Americans seeking to pay ransom. Put that on the list of laws that the Chief Executive and the Department of Justice will not enforce. Americans and Brits have been executed by Muslim terrorists at a rate note seen by other countries. The reason? Those other countries (e.g., France) pay the ransom, including some who are signatories to the “Hell no we won’t pay” UN resolution. A special government office is to be set up to ‘facilitate’ discussions between terrorists and those willing and able to pay. If you can’t get the cash, I suppose, the discussion will be brief. Stay tuned for the video. Or will this not happen? Will the special office secure the funds? You’re damn straight it will, one way or another. And will government agents be involved in wiring money, carrying cash, arranging secret military flights? You bet. That’s what facilitating means. Technically, of course, the US will not be negotiating with terrorists. It’s not a negotiation when the other party says, “Pay $20 million by Tuesday or he’s dead.” What do you do, offer $10 million and hope they say yes? Of course not. The only question is how do you want it, in euros, dollars, or yen? And what will the money be used for, I wonder. Oh, perhaps to be a few Lamborghinis? A month in Vegas? I really don’t think so. I tend to believe that ransom money will go to buy the stuff that kills Americans and others and that paying once guarantees future kidnappings. But that’s just me, I guess.

Ex-PH2

I’ll see if there’s any cash in the ransom pig, Air Cav. If not, well….

Roger in Republic

The FBI says that they are not going to help facilitate any payments. Their job will be limited to seeing that the families are not scammed by some ripoff artists. How they plan on doing that is anybody’s guess.

2/17 Air Cav

“The FBI says that they are not going to help facilitate any payments.” Sure, I believe them. Really. They’re government and the government never lies. Moreover, they’re DOJ and that means they’re beyond reproach and that their word is their bond. Cynical? No, Experienced.

GDContractor

Yep, our governments latest subsidy program. If only the kidnappers were dumb enough to accept an EBT card.

This entire administration continues to define stupidity down farther and farther and farther…
I wonder sometimes how they remember to breathe…

Ex-PH2

They have instructors for breathing. None for thinking, however.

“We’re not going to abandon you. We’re going to stand by you,” Obama said of hostages’ families, speaking at the White House on Wednesday. Oh hell yes, he will abandon you! Anyone who thinks different, money in hand or not needs to get a clue. This shit will get so convoluted to orchestrate with this administration involved, it will be impossible to recover anyone. Where in hell does Obama think ISIS or others will hold those kidnapped? I know!!! Oh I know this one teacher!!! Right in the middle of their most important warfare centers and bases and they will let it be known. Which of course will stop all drone and aircraft strikes while top terrorist leaders keep close by. “The White House plans to establish a Hostage Recovery Fusion Cell responsible for coordinating the recovery of hostages; a Hostage Response Group responsible for coordinating hostage policies; and the position of “special presidential envoy for hostage affairs.” Obama said this is being done to sync up various efforts, citing past coordination problems.” Past coordination problems…really! Yea right, another bureaucracy for taxpayers to fund that will work as well as the IRS or OPM. By the by, we already have several “Hostage Recovery Fusion Cell” operations on deck. They are called SEAL Teams, Delta Force and other “operators” we don’t hear anything about in the NSA and CIA. Think Captain Richard Phillips on that one for the SEAL Teams. Yes this will cut my plans, if I ever had any, to travel abroad to zero. Any American going anywhere near these murderers to travel or work, in light of this new wonder program from Obama had better think twice, thrice and many more times first. Anyone already there for any reason, better think quickly about how to get out and get home ASAP. To be forewarned, is to be, well…forewarned. It’s their lives they are putting in the lion’s mouth. Don’t be pissed when the lion does as he is instinctively going to do. This especially goes for the major media and free lance reporters out there looking for their… Read more »

And if you’re anybody in that link of Hostage Rescue, you’re screwed. If the terrorists want to trade up, all they have to do is wait for the announcement from the WH as to when and where the negotiations or transfers will take place, and with whom. What’s the going hostage exchange rate for a Navy SEAL these days?

The really sad thing is how many people in this country voted for these morons, and probably would do so again, if they were given the chance.

11B-Mailclerk

It is almost as if they had read Kratman’s “A Desert Called Peace”, and sequels, and “Caliphate”.

And then decided to do whatever most seemed counter to the books.

Are they working from a freaking checklist of stupid?

If I ever find myself elected President, I will nominate Kratman as Secretary of War.

hmmmm….
