Former DIA chief: Nuclear deal with Iran is wishful thinking
Fox News reports that retired Lieutenant General Michael Flynn who used to run the Defense Intelligence Agency said this about the administration’s pursuit of a nuclear deal with Iran in a written statement to a House Foreign Affairs subcommittee;
“It is clear that the nuclear deal is not a permanent fix but merely a placeholder,” he said in the testimony, obtained by Fox News in advance of a hearing where he’s set to testify.
He said the 10-year timeframe on parts of the deal “only make sense” if the U.S. thinks a “wider reconciliation” with Iran is possible. He called this “wishful thinking,” adding that “regime change” is the best way to stop Iran’s nuclear weapons program.
In lengthy written remarks, Flynn asserted that Iran has “every intention” of building a nuclear weapon, and their desire to destroy Israel is “very real.”
Well, it’s not like we already didn’t think that, but it’s nice to have General Flynn validate our suspicions. Who better to negotiate policy based on wishful thinking than John Kerry?
Flynn went on to condemn Iraq for their participation in the killing of US troops and continued that there is no real strategy against ISIS, but, you know, the President admitted as much just two days to the world.

Because the regime change in Iraq is going so well…
A former General with balls eh. Not many left who will speak out I guess. Wish he had spoken out while head of the DIA. It would have carried a bit more weight then but I am glad he is at least honest about it all now.
He probably did-why else would he get canned 2ish years early and without a named replacement?
I see you point. Well taken.
As to the regime change in Iran or Iraq, it’s not going to happen in our lifetime. Unless they actually do what they have PROMISED to do, which is attack to destroy Israel, then there will be a one day regime change, courtesy of Israel, whether we help or try to hinder. Israel may go down but not before fighting and killing everyone and everything in their threat sights before they are done.
Pretty much everything this administration is doing is a “placeholder” until they can dump the whole pile of warm runny shit into someone else’s lap on 1/20/17.
What are the odds that in my lifetime there will be some sort of limited nuclear war between two countries. ???
Much better than you or I winning the Power Ball lottery, Skippy.
I believe you are right about that one ! ! !
if it ain’t Iran and Israel, I’ll take India and Pakistan.
Saudis and Iran ???? That’s also my guess..
at one time India and Pakistan was a shoe in with me, not anymore.
I’m more worried about Iran as a aggressor.
and southwest Asia, being a epicenter.
that being any Sunni country or Israel
Will someone even try to tell me why our current Go ernment wants to negotiate anything with a regime that routinely holds “Death to America” rallies while they’re at the table? Maybe they are afflicted with a worse case of shitforbrainsitis than Jimmeh Kahtuh & Company had, it makes one think that simply talking about things followed up with a group hug and a few verses of “Kum-ba-ya” after some Kool-Aid will solve everything.
