Valentine’s Day open thread
I guess some of you want an open thread, so here it is. If you’re in the Chicago area on Monday, stop by Anderson’s Bookshop in Naperville at 7PM and meet Bill Albracht and get a copy of his book “Abandoned in Hell” signed.
Enjoy your weekend discussions.

Category: Open thread
I’ll let somebody else go first this time.
Nope, didn’t work out.
Everybody else must be watching the Senior Chief’s videos on the Canadian Ditch Pig.
Okay, I’ll take that. Wait. Doh.
Happy Ballantine’s Day.
Nothing beats an ice cold Busch beer. Nothing.
Nothing except Louie for Sheaffer!
Okay. Okay. You got me.
Mickey Rooney for Rainier Beer –
You guys are putzes.

Fosteh’s. It’s Austrayelian for beeah.
More like Australian for piss water.
I was far more disposed to Toohey’s and Victoria Bitter, at least when I was there.
And happy celebration of a decapitated priest, everyone!
@ SILENTIUM EST AUREUM, Et Alii:
When I read, “decapitated priest”, I thought you were referring to the Catholic priest in Syria, who the Muslims decapitated.
(There’s video recordings and photographs all over the Internet, including at my own personal web site.)
I’d forgotten all about Saint Valentine.
Thanks for reminding us, even if some of us aren’t Roman Catholic.
The video allegedly depicting the beheading of Father Francois Murad has been removed from the Internet, and can no longer be seen at my web site.
The Roman Catholic Church has officially announced that Father Francois Murad was NOT beheaded, but died after being shot eight (08) times.
HOWEVER, according to that video, an unidentified Catholic priest was beheaded by the Muslims.
And of course, it’s the anniversary of the notorious “Saint Valentine’s Day Massacre” in Chicago.
BEER, it’s NOT just for breakfast anymore!!!
The Flintstones were even in cigarette ads:
“Winston tastes good like a cigarette should.”
When I still imbibed I drank Ballantine Ale…often…very, very, VERY often.
I still remember the little picture riddles under the caps. I had lots and lots and lots of caps.
Military Times story reports: Marines Surrender Weapons Before Yemen Evacuation. http://www.military.com/daily-news/2015/02/11/marines-surrender-weapons-before-yemen-evacuation.html?comp=7000023435630&rank=1
When did Marines start surrendering! , very misleading headlines.
That article reads like it was written by Brie Williams.
JimW…I don’t get this. Who the hell in the White House, obviously, through the State Department listened to the “terms” of exit from the Yemenis and told our Marines to surrender their weapons? Instead of saying fuck off, we’ll give up our weapons when you come a take them and they’re out of ammo. This is wrong and should not have happened. Had I been ordered to surrender my weapon, the end of the barrel beyond easy sight would have been plugged with something sufficient to cause a catastrophic failure when fired. Since these ass hats are big on never cleaning weapons, just tossing them and grabbing another one, and since they love firing everything in the air for whatever they reason, happy, pissed, weddings, funerals or anything else, it would have been a real crowd pleaser for me to see most of the M-4s and M-9s blew up and take out a bunch of them. Screw them. This cowardly, Muslim loving, Muslim apologist, U.S. military hating Administration, once again, gives our military’s dignity and history away for nothing more than an big smooch on some Arabs asses.
Check Jonn’s post on the evacuation, Sparks. The Marines didn’t SURRENDER anything.
And next time, stop and think about that for a minute. Marines. Surrendering.
Not on this planet, they don’t!
Pinto Nag…Thank you m’lady for clearing me up on that. That will teach me to read and research before going ballistic, upping my BP and sounding off.
I love John Giduck. He has that cute “turd with a face” and ample waistline that makes for perfect Valentine’s day fun
My dog woke me up and wanted to go outside were he promptly dropped a huge, steaming pile of Phil Monkress.
I wonder what Phildo is doing for Valentines Day?
Any guesses?
Making mutual arm motions with the Dutch Rudder Club??
My best guess:
Commander Phil Monkress of All-Points Logistics is doing one of several things over this Valentine’s holiday:
First and foremost (not numbered): Still avoiding calls ( as his senior staff)seeking clarification of his highly questionable Native American claims followed by his downright absurd Navy SEAL and Brevard County LEO claims.
Moving on.
1) Attempting to procure “Taint” in places that good folks a’int.
2) Possibly attending a middle school wrestling tournament.
3) Working balls with a man named Paul-mer (of the Ballsack) – Paul works the sack while Phildo is in back….
4) Paying off his Poser MC and still, currently blaming Paul-mer (of the Ballsack) for his claims.
5) Working balls in the back of the mall for spending cash.
6) Rolling with Cody Stermer learning the “New” ropes.
Sky is the limit. Any thoughts?
PERSONNEL DEPT Discussion
“What about this guy? He looks good.”
“Looks good? As a driver? The guy has had his license suspended nine freakin times and he has a bum arm. He tried to commit suicide but all he killed was his arm.””
“I don’t give a shit. He’s perfect! Just look at his name: Abdul Reshad Fedahi! Hire him.”
“Okay, boss.”
It’s a safe bet that Daniel A. Bernath is still accusing the wrong Man of being me ( Is he still accusing #7?), he never has been and never will be either a US Navy CPO (Honorary or otherwise) or an Attorney at Law in the State of Oregon.
Dallas Wittgenfeld is still his drooling, sniveling lackey!
Going over the threads, it’s amazing they’ve kept it up this long, even after having their heads handed to them time and time again.
Even Cubs fans feel sorry for these clowns. Oh wait, no they don’t. They hate the Dutch Rudder Club just the same as everyone else.
Tip of the week:
Be careful when you blindly follow the Masses.
Sometimes the M is silent.
Sparks,
Just curious how you’re doing.
IIRC, you’ll start cardiac rehab shortly. I was impressed with the crew at my cardiac rehab facility. I’ve been able to get out several times this season and do some skiing on what little snow we have here on the west slope of the Sierras. Wishing you all the best!
WrenchS2/S3…Thanks for asking my friend. I am getting better each day. Still have to resort to pain meds by the end of the day but they work. Start Cardiac Rehab next week. Three months, three days a week an hour a day. Looking forward to getting back in shape in a safe, monitored environment. The the folks at my rehab facility are all professional PTs, nurses and PAs. So I’m in good hands. Thanks again for asking brother. Take care yourself and I hope you are back to full capacity now or as soon as possible.
Praying for both of you!
@Sparks
Sending light and love to you that all goes well…you and your family are in my thoughts.
Toasty Coastie…Thank you so very much!
Want to make sure all the Cadre saw the news on Chevy’s new book. It was buried in a thread yesterday. It is about how AF LtCol “Hollywood” (aka Chevy) flew Brian Williams on his Compass Call aircraft over the burning oil fields and got Agent Orange like the famous left coast lawyer who got it too even though he was never near Agent Orange.
Ok, I made that up. His book is: “The Internet world of the Damned by Dennis Chevalier, MSCJ (c) 2015”. He says it exposes the evil social outcast people here on TAH complete with names and criminal records. The Dutch Rudder Gang wrote the Forward. (Ok, I made that up but it may be true because I’m buying is almost $30 book). BTW, this is his second book…the other one was a screed about evil chat rooms.
The link is on his Facebook https://www.facebook.com/denny.chevalier.3040/posts/1541090306163694.
A bit of irony is he whines about TAH saying evil things yet on his other Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/dennis.chevalier.7 he posts very nasty things about his most recent ex-fiance. He is even worse about her on Craig’s list.
Look for it on Amazon and the NYT Best seller List!
The only thing Chevy cannot lie about is gaining weight.
I did look for it on Amazon. On the river and on the sales page.
It ain’t nowhere to be found.
As usual, Chevy Chevette Scooter Cheeseybastard Cheeseater McBlobfish is wearing his lying underoos.
I shouda put a /sarc after the Amazon/NYT remark. IF there is a book, its probably a vanity press variety and he’ll have boxes of them in his leaky motel room.
Personally, I think it’s a tawdry cover with a bunch of blank pages.
In a few weeks, ChevyCheeseDick will start claiming that his “book” has been nominated for a Pulitzer… after he scrapes together the $50 for payment of the entry fee.
Happy Valentine’s Day, all. Enjoy this day everyone.
You, too, OWB.
Received word this past week that the 89 year old widow of our neighboring farm couple from back home in Indiana has been hospitalized and is not going to be with us much longer.
He passed away in 1983 while I was in Germany. He had been a Staff Sergeant in the 101st Airborne in WWII. He was one of those little (5’4″) bulldog looking fireplug types of men that we all knew from our time in the service.
After I got back home from Vietnam after doing my tour of duty in the 101st Airborne, (which BTW was just two days ago in 1972) he and I had quite a few discussions over coffee as to what my future plans were.
In a half jokingly, half serious manner, he told me that for him, he had been raised on the farm, would die on the farm, and the easiest part of his life so far had been jumping out of airplanes and killing Nazis. So I should give some serious thought about how I wanted to live out the rest of my life.
Long story short, if any of you out there have a little room in your prayers for another soul, I’m sure Deloris would be thankful of being included.
Of course, there is always room for prayers for folks like this. They sound like REAL Americans.
God bless Deloris, and her husband (RIP)
On it, for a peaceful passing.
CLAW131…Your friend and their family and friends are in my prayers.
@ CLAW 131: You and I came back from the old Republic of Viet Nam at about the same time, and might have crossed paths at some point. I was on the next to the last flight leaving Da Nang when the 101st Airborne returned as a unit. My Form 20 indicates I left Viet Nam on 21 February 1972, as a member of the 101st Airborne Division Band. I can’t remember the details of coming back, but I think I left Viet Nam BEFORE 21 February 1972, and I was NEVER in any band (couldn’t play any instrument). Did you return with the 101st Airborne Division’s colors? Although the 101st Airborne had left Viet Nam, they still left behind a small detachment for security duty at some other base (Phan Rang?). Immediately upon arrival in the United States, all returnees in the 101st Airborne were reassigned to other units, and scattered to the four winds. I was told it was because when the 173d Airborne had returned, the guys enjoyed letting off steam by tearing up the passenger terminal in Anchorage, Alaska, and the Pentagon didn’t want that repeated when the 101st Airborne came back. Does anyone know if that’s a true story, or not? Also, exactly when did the 101st Airborne return? If I knew that, I’d know when I returned, because I’ve always thought the date listed on my Form 20 was incorrect. My last days in Viet Nam were spent in Da Nang, cleaning M-16 rifles, one after another, immersing them in cosmoline, and wrapping them with a thick, specially waxed (?) paper. I think the M-16s were being given to the ARVNs (i.e., the “Army of the Republic of Viet Nam”), but maybe they were being shipped back to “the World”. My last night in Viet Nam was really scary, as inflatable rafts were found on the beach, and two (02) American lieutenants travelling in a Jeep were killed by either ARVN (?) soldiers, or NVA infiltrators disguised as ARVNs. We’d already turned in our weapons, and were being protected by a couple of clerks… Read more »
JRM, I’ll try to answer a couple of your questions. This is all through Google-Fu research, so info may not be exactly correct.
The Division Colors returned to Fort Campbell on 10 March 1972.
HHC and Band, 101st DISCOM departed RVN 17 Jan 72.
501st Signal departed RVN 12 Jan 72.
My outfit, 101st Aviation Bn, departed RVN on 5 Feb 72.
The Division Band was just a catch-all MTOE outfit for leftovers. In actuality many members assigned to the “Band” were the Quick Reaction Force protection for the Division Headquarters.
No idea on any truth behind the story about the 173rd tearing up an airport in Alaska. I don’t remember hearing/reading anything like that.
My return date was 12 Feb 72, so no, I did not return on the same date as the Division Colors.
Praying, CLAW131!
@Claw131
Sending light and love for your neighbor. Will light a candle in hopes of an gentle passing…
Done, Claw. And will continue for you and her family as well.
Claw: At every Mass, there is a part in which stock intentions are offered, such as wisdom for our leaders and the safekeeping of our military. These are announced, with a group response. The last one is for our own special intentions, “which are carried in the silence of our hearts.” Tomorrow, at Mass, I will remember your neighbors. I figure that the Good Lord will know who they are, even if I don’t.
^^^Me too tomorrow^^^. For Sparks total recovery too.
My Tanker bud loved it. Its on Direct also. Gonna be cold this week so maybe Fury and a Band of Bro’s marathon.
This should have been the next topic down…2/17’s post.
Anybody see the movie Fury? It’s playing on Dish pay-per-view and I’m thinking of giving it a look-see. I like corny and even unrealistic war movies but only if the good guys (in this case, a tank crew) win in the end.
Then “Fury” will disappoint you.
Uh. I was so hoping it was a good one.
Yeah, I actually bought it from Amazon, but I haven’t watched it after the first time. They sucked me in by making it about 2d Armored Division (my combat patch) and it wasn’t a “bad” movie, just no real good story. Action and effects were good, but the story sucked.
The good guys do win in that they perform their mission to the best of their abilities. Any more information would classify as a spoiler. If you like corny and unrealistic, then I think you wold like the movie.
Rented from iTunes, great movie for the kids. Wife thought to much swearing and not appropriate for 15 yr old boys. Lots of action for kids, easy story line to follow. Realistic, no. Its a movie.
Hey, Jonn! Where’d you get that photo of Paul Wickre at the top? or Daniel Bernath? or is it Phil Monkress? They all look the same, so it’s hard to tell. . .
Here’s a touching story that I’m sure y’all will appreciate:
The teacher gave her fifth grade class an assignment: Get their parents to tell them a story with a moral at the end of it.
The next day, the kids came back and, one by one, began to tell their stories.
There were all the regular types of stuff: Spilled milk and pennies saved. But then the teacher realized, that only Janie was left.
“Janie, do you have a story to share?”
“Yes ma’am. My daddy told me a story about my mommy. She was a Marine pilot in Desert Storm, and her plane got hit. She had to bail out over enemy territory, and all she had was a flask of whiskey, a pistol, and a survival knife.
She drank the whiskey on the way down so the bottle wouldn’t break, and then she parachuted right into the middle of 20 Iraqi troops. . .
She shot 15 of them with the pistol, until she ran out of bullets, killed four more with the knife, till the blade broke, and then she killed the last Iraqi with her bare hands.”
“Good Heavens!” exclaimed the horrified teacher. “What did your Daddy tell you was the moral to this horrible story?”
….”Don’t mess with Mommy when she’s been drinking!”
I am soooo going to borrow this!
Same teacher later became pregnant and wanted to avoid the inevitable questions. She decided that she would tell the kids a little about pregnancy.
She asked the class, “who knows what pregnant is?” Little Johnny in the back raises his hand and starts shouting, “I know! I know! I know!” teacher didn’t want to call on Johnny because he always had bad things to say.
So, she asks again. Little johnnyu is going nuts in the back, “I know! I know! I know”. She reluctantly calls on Johnny and Johnny in the cutest voice says, “teacher, pregnant is….” while the teacher cringes, “pregnant is ‘beautiful'”
genuinely surprised, teacher says to johnny, “what a wonderful thing to say! Johnny, where did you learn that being pregnant is beautiful?”
Johnny proudly smiles and says, “when my 15 year old sister came home pregnant, the first words that came out of my Dad’s mouth were ‘BEAUTIFUL, JUST FUCKING BEAUTIFUL'”
Oh, I do wish you people would remember to post a spew warning occasionally.
I stayed up till almost 3 am last night. Had a big ole blazing fire going. Thinking about what the future holds here at home. When I woke up this morning I could tell I drank too much. God my head hurts. I went and bought flowered for my wife. It’s kind of quiet around here. My wife sleeps about sixteen hours a day does not look good.
Happy V day all! Esp. You female types!
If the VA does not offer grief counseling, find someone who does.
Happy Valentine’s Day to you, 3/17AirCav
@3/17 Air Cav~
Sending light and love to you and your beloved for peace and ease…I will light a candle tonight for you both.
3/17…you have my contact info. Don’t hesitate. I’ve walked in your Cochrans…exactly what you just described…right to the T. You and your bride on my previously mentioned prayer list.
3/17: PLEASE LISTEN. To repeat: I have been where you are now. Exactly. My scotch and firewood bill was astronomical. I have done, MANY times, what you described.
My saying was if I didn’t do it, it would not get done.
I adored my bride of 30 years. We were in the pre-op stage for, finally, a cure.
My Bride could not help what happened to her. Thank God that your Bride has you there for her. You are getting a whole bunch of Karma points. I too have lit the fires and drank too much in the the hope that I would get the strength to help her.
Call me if you want to talk to someone that has plowed this same field. God bless you and your family.
3/17, thanks for the update. Keep the faith, buddy, we are all here for you.
We will include you and yours in our thoughts and prayers.
3/17 Air Cav…You and your wife are in my prayers. God bless.
Yep. The prayers and good thoughts continue.
Hmmm. Sure hope that having a general, “For all my TAH bothers and sisters” prayer is specific enough to cover the unspoken concerns among us. Yeah, it is. At least my system of faith says it is.
I don’t know if this will be of any help, but it says a lot, especially when you face something that is out of your hands, like losing a loved one.
Faith and Courage In Life
Angie Flores
In life there are people that will hurt us and cause us pain,
but we must learn to forgive and forget and not hold grudges.
In life there are mistakes we will make,
but we must learn from our wrongs and grow from them.
In life there are regrets we will have to live with,
but we must learn to leave the past behind and realize it is something we can’t change.
In life there are people we will lose forever and can’t have back,
but we must learn to let go and move on.
In life there are going to be obstacles that will cause interference,
but we must learn to overcome these challenges and grow stronger.
In life there are fears that will hold us back from what we want,
but we must learn to fight them with the courage from within.
God holds our lives in his hands. He holds the key to our future.
Only he knows our fate.
He sees everything and knows everything.
Everything in life really does happen for a reason: “God’s Reason”.
Prayers Out, 3/17.
Thank you all for your kind words. When I read them, which I have repeatedly done today. It makes me quite emotional.
Around my crowd, here in the Northwest, I’m known as a little bit of a hard ass. Just between us girls, I’m really not. Don’t tell anyone
Again thank you for your kind words, and encouragement!
Steve
My clan thought I was a hard ass too. El wrongo. Being the care giver 24/7 for someone you love dearly ain’t easy. I’m guessing you sometimes say/think things that you wish you could take back? Been there. You and yours are on my hit parade for prayers at tomorrow’s Mass. Manly hugs 3/17.
SJ……how did you guess? Spontaneous was and is my middle name. When in doubt, spit it back in aces. However over the years, I’ve gotten better at being Folksie. I’m close , but not quite a finished product yet!
Ex-PH2 is mentoring me at present. Smile
I am really just a giant teddy bear, well probably not. But, I got no problem telling a brother he is loved. Semper Fi my friend.
I cry at those old Kodak commercials.
Stay strong.
3/17 Air Cav, praying for you and your wife.
NASA reported today that Central Plains and West Coast will be thrusted into 20 – 40 year draught in coming decade if green house gases are not decreased.
So we no longer have a manned space program, much of that funding was shifted to social programs, I wonder what Presidential SES appointee signed off on the report?
Just thinkin’!
Leftists are such MYRMIDONS, total slaves to their political agenda. That’s one reason I go to Accuweather to check up anymore, the Weather Channel is SO chock full of climate propaganda these days it’s not even funny!!

That’s interesting. I sent something on that earlier to Hondo, about a 1,000 year megadrought, based on no geological evidence that those occur on the west coast.
It’s all hooey, you know, Master Chief. That way they can get fundieded again. I hope it rains so hard for the next 50 years that they look stupider and stupider than they already look.
I made chocolate chip cookies. Tortilla soup for supper.
I am drinking beer at slope side bar … 70 inches of snow and 12 degrees. For Orange County NY … we call this ice age – Global Warming.
75 down here. Gonna have to mow the dang weeds out back so I can find my dog.
It’s [X] degrees here in [undisclosed], and it’s expected to [CENSORED] soon.
Trust me, those warm climate weeds do not hold a candle to kudzu. You can watch that crap grow. It swallows whole forests.
Zombies? Forget the corpse-critters. The real un-killable living-dead creeping doom is kudzu!
Shooting zombies is a challenge. Shooting kudzu is pointless. Napalm is only a temporary fix. Nuking the site from orbit is not a guarantee.
I guess those climate science guys still don’t understand that Mother Nature has her own agenda and you can’t change it. They are such control freaks. They still haven’t explained why tornadoes are happening in November in the midwest, when they normally only happen in the summer when it’s hot. (I know why, they just ignore it.)
It will be cold all week. It’s winter. That’s what happens in winter. The official long-term forecast was wrong. Almanacs were right.
It’s not nice to mess with Mother Nature.
Here’s a video from Accuweather’s forecasters about the blizzard hitting New England. Looks like Canada’s Maritime Provinces will get the worst of it.

3F here, and the wind is out of the north, but there’s a car parked right in front of mine, so I don’t care. Fed the birds, fed the cat, made choco chip cookies.
Although I try to avoid passing along links to other websites, there’s been a brisk discussion going on over at Hemmings on the 75th anniversary of the military Jeep, which traces its origin to the Bantam Reconnaissance Car of 1940. Some of this includes how the Jeep actually got its name, and background on the hoops needed to get it into production.
Interesting stuff in a military motorhead trivia kind of way:
http://blog.hemmings.com/index.php/2015/02/11/up-to-2500-jeeps-expected-for-worlds-largest-jeep-parade-and-the-bantam-jeeps-75th-anniversary/
I have a thing for old Jeeps, I still miss having the 1946 Willys CJ2A I drove when I was in high school ( I’m currently Restoring a 1947 model). That machine would never win any races, but off road it was nearly indestructible! The old “Flat-fender” Jeeps could even be outfitted with a rear PTO for farm use!

This most anti-gun administration strikes again. M855 5.56 ammunition has now been classified as “armor piercing” and banned from civilian sale, even though it doesn’t meet the definition of armor piercing under federal code. The run is already on for what’s left on the market. If you try to buy some but it’s listed as out of stock, don’t bother back ordering. You won’t see it for at least the next few years. Hopefully it’ll be taken to court and stopped. But I wouldn’t hold my breath.

@ ARMY ATC:
Thanks for posting that.
I’ll immediately share it with everyone I know, although among my own kith and kin, I’m probably the only one who owns an AR-15.
Mine is actually a CAR-15, i.e., a short carbine with a telescoping buttstock, a civilian semi-automatic copy of the Army’s XM-177E2 “Colt Commando” used mostly by Special Operations units, although I did see one or two of them being used in my own unit, the 501st Signal Battalion (Airmobile) of the 101st Airborne Division (Airmobile).
Again, thank you so very much for alerting us to this critical situation.
This might just be the spark igniting our Third American Revolutionary War.

Serious question for mainly my Navy peers but also for anyone who might have insight.
Secnavinst 1650.1h states that the vessel I was aboard earned the Navy Combat Action Ribbon for operating in the Persian Gulf during the period 25 to 26FEB1991. This award is not listed on my DD-214 and, for that reason, I do not claim or have one on my ribbon bar. Is the is award like the MUC or Battle ‘E’ in that servicemembers aboard at the time for which the award was, uh…awarded, are authorized to wear the ribbon? I honestly have no idea how it works for that award.
Then, of course, if it is authorized do I waste the time of a bunch of people getting my DD-214 amended?
No and No.
This is the BLUF:
It is not a personal award, therefore if you were on the ship then you wear it and claim it.
The history of the award authorities for ships and stations and individuals is on the Navy’s Awards Web Site.
Anyone can use the site to look up unit and personal awards. Of course you must know the PII for looking up your own or others personal awards. It should be noted that, for personal awards, the database is only as good as the service members and units make it. If it was not submitted by the individual and or unit, it won’t be there.
Standby and I will post it next.
Navy Awards Web Site:
https://awards.navy.mil
Very easy to use.
Hit Unit Awards Search your commond and print.
That is your authority and proof.
Thank you!
As an old vet geezer, I have never encountered anyone that cared what award I had. If it doesn’t pertain to a VA claim, then forget it. JMHO.
Bernath’s mom was just apologizing for only having boxed wine to go with the frozen lasagna she was cooking in the microwave. I assured her boxed wine was lovely and it was one of my favorites like the bagged salad she had on the table already.

Most of you are familiar with that radio advertisement for naming a star after a loved one. I haven’t them for a few years, but they were constantly aired in the DC area the last few weeks. For those unfamiliar with the premise (scam), for some sum of money, this company will name a star after anyone that you want. You (allegedly) get a photo of your star, the coordinates where the star is located, and your star name is copyrighted. Well, for us Earth bound individuals, I am starting a company to name piles of dogshit after individuals. For $29.99, the person that you honor gets a photo of their dogshit, a list of food that the dog consumed to make that pile of dogshit, and the name will be copyrighted with a real estate lawyer in Bethesda MD. The first two people to be honored have already been chosen. Anyone want to guess who those two are?

What is that, Gollum in ACU’s wearing a wig?
I accidentally stumbled across this movie, one of my favorites, at the YOU TUBE web site.
In high school, hearing the music inspired me to learn the song.
And, as a soldier in Viet Nam, I took the opportunity to visit Israel, where I was the ONLY Christian (i.e., I’m a “Mormon”) on all-Jewish guided tours.

Just a random ramble…
Can’t help but wonder how many of those who are working so hard to remove God and religion from our country actually celebrated St. Valentine’s day yesterday.
I’m sure that the Hypocrisy Bus had a few extra riders.
Hmmm. Chevy’s FB page that libels and slanders his most recent ex-fiance is poof gone. She had said there was legal action started a week or so ago…one can only hope that it came to be.
You can still get his book on his other FB site.
He’s trying to cover his tracks, cause he a former MENSA member, he knows how to do that stuff.
The Internet is forever, ChevyCheeseDick.
Bet the local authorities have had a “nice long talk” with him about his activities. It’s just a matter of time before Cheeseslayer gets caught getting seriously stupid…

Eh, no. Hustle that snake oil elsewhere Al.
Wind gusts at observatory on the summit of Mt. Washington are expected to reach triple digits today.
The current temperature there is -15.1F.
Hiking on trails is not recommended as rescue will be slow or not available.
Enjoy the view. It’s winter.
I drove up there once, in July. I made the mistake of not having a sweatshirt. Do you know how expensive those sweatshirts are at the top of the mountain when you REALLY need one?
I can’t imagine how the weather people stay up there in wintertime. Something straight out of Steven King.
Some day, I will take the tram car up there and spend an hour feeling like an eagle.
It appears the current blizzard in New England is No. 4.

And theyve got thundersnow, too. Buildings are in danger of having collapsing roofs. The National Guard has been called to assist with snow removal.
It seems that all that money being poured into science is not getting the predicted results.
The sun did not behave in 2013 as was expected and predicted.

And while a predicted solar max for 2014 did occur, it is the weakest on record.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=8Ha7X6dWVQE
Note on the charts that there is another solar minimum predicted for 2020. The questions I have are simple: will it be a complete minimum, and last longer than the 2008-2010 event? Is it the precursor to a longer-term cooling effect on weather cycles overall? If you look at those charts going back to the early 17th century, it’s quite plain that there is no regularity to them.
I am not knocking the work these guys are doing to try to understand the sun and how it affects Earth in various ways, I think it would be helpful if they recognized that the sun has its own agenda and will not meet their expectations.
Current temperature here in the Snake River Valley area is 48 degrees, sunny, with a mild breeze.
Male sparrows and starlings are starting to mob the females.
A pair of red headed finches stopped by earlier to scope out my red barn nesting box.
Convertibles and motorcycles are flooding the highways.
Our current cost of fuel is reportedly the lowest in the nation.
The wife and I and the in-laws went to I-Hop for belated Valentine’s Day pancakes.
I just now saw this at the FREE NORTH CAROLINA web site, and it moved me to tears.
I’m posting this sad news on President’s Day, Monday 16 February 2015.
LESLEY GORE is dead ! ! !
Leslie Gore passed away in 1999. This is not news.
Ex,no,it was just today that she passed. The CBS nightly news had their little tribute segment on her.
Perhaps you’re thinking of someone else.
Claw……Looks like there was a Leslie Gore that was born in 1924 and died in Indiana 1999. Different one not the singer.
3/17,The one that JRM was talking about is the girl singer. (It’s My Party and I’ll Cry If I Want To, etc).
She was one of my wife’s favorite girl artists.
I have no idea who Ex-Ph2 was referencing, maybe she was thinking of another famous Lesley.
Anyway, RIP Lesley Gore.
Maybe the confusion lies in the spelling of the first name.
Leslie is masculine.
Lesley is feminine.
“You don’t own me” was another one of her hit tunes.
No, Leslie is also feminine – the name can go either way. As my wife Leslie found out when showing up to her 1st AD unit at Kotterbach and finding out her barracks room was in the men’s NCO barracks. Ooops…
Had snow and ice removed from FOB today … 550 US dollars.
Ski team is 25k richer!
If I told you what I know, I would be going to jail.
However, I can say this, I know someone who is going to jail.
Global warming is in full force here in NY Metro area.
ISIS is not on the run.
My family is well armed. Oh … and well protected.
Let’s see, SNL crushed the NBA All Star game 3 to 1.
And, Bernath is not, never was nor will he ever be a Genuine or Honorary CPO. PERIOD!
Further, I suspect (as others have suggested) he will have much trouble obtaining any sort of insurance of any type in the future.
We went coyette hunting last night … I used my MOSS bolt action.
Packed up last of Christmas decorations, however left the wreath hanging on chimney outside due to the global warming ice and snow effect made it hazardous to remove.
Nothing further … OUT.
Quit teasing, Master Chief. Is it cold and snowy there, or isn’t it?
Ran across this lady, auditioning in front of Simon Cowell, of all people.
Seriously, she blows the roof off the building with her version of “I Who Have Nothing”.
Holy crap! Never heard of her before, but she totally nails this. There are other videos of her from this show and this was no fluke! A great talent.
Does not surprize me … she is Irish!
Jonn,
You have to let go of my Burrell and Phildo!
