Clay Hutson’s admission
Within minutes of the posting, we received a donation from Hutson with a promise of a written apology. I told him that the donation wouldn’t remove the post and that he was free to take back the donation if that had been his intent. But this morning we awoke to this apology in our inbox;
So I’m guessing that he didn’t witness his buddy get his head blown off. Good luck, Clay, we’re done, but the post remains. More phonies should take this route rather than throw little temper tantrums.
Category: Phony soldiers
Kudos to him for manning up and having the cajones to issue a public apology.
I just don’t understand why people do this shit in teh first place. I really don’t.
Good for him.
Bernath, Wickre, and others could learn something from this guy. (They won’t, but they could.) If they’d reacted this way, they’d be a small footnote on the internet, instead of having their shortcomings laid bare for all to see.
Well it is what it is, but he is just sorry he got caught. Look at the time he spent coming up with that Bull Shit Service record … He was living the Dream and that’s all it was a fucking Dream! At least his Bullshit will be on the internet for eternity!
That’s it exactly, MSG. When I read “Don Shipley said he wasn’t a SEAL.” That was all I needed to read. While one of best apologies I’ve read on TAH, you are on point with the time involved to write the BS. What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas. What happens on the interwebs, stays there forever. At least until Megadeth that is. (Sorry for the 80’s metal reference from when I was a stank-ass long haired pre-service DB; but not even Dave Mustaine himself could repair the self inflected damage Clay did to himself.) Tough shit, Clay. As you are now well aware, we take this shit srsly. ManBearPig you are… Half Man, half Bear, mostly Pig…
At least he has the intestinal fortitude to admit to his mistakes, and issue a very public apology for his lies.
I will never understand the need to lie about who you are to begin with, but…
Nicki: I suppose they do it for the same reason the high school football third stringer and perennial bench warmer says that he was all-state, that the Little League failure says that he was semi-pro until he blew a shoulder out. They can’t lie about today–their friends and acquaintances know that they aren’t shit–so they lie about yesterday, pretending they used to be something worth being.
I mean I guess I get it. What I just don’t get is that if you do this publicly, it’s likely you’re going to get caught. Do they count on NOT getting caught? Are they just stupid? Do they not think about the consequences? I mean, it’s obvious they have no conscience, but still… I guess the mentality is a mystery to me.
2/17 Air Cav……I had a baseball coach tell me once “the farther one gets away from home, the bigger all american you become”
“The older I get, the better I was.”
He at least had the balls to admit he was lying and that he’d fucked up, I gotta give him credit for that!! I wonder if any other posers are looking at this and taking heed?
I read it differently. He apologizes for “sharing misleading accounts and/or allowing inaccurate information to proliferate”. He then refers to his fabricated background as “misconceptions”. To me, this lacks the ownership of saying “I Lied”. Furthermore, I am skeptical AS TO his use of the following words: “… and continue to make donations in their support.” I suspect that that is another “misleading account”.
I don’t have any skin in this game, you guys served, I didn’t. I just can’t stand a mealy mouthed liar. If his apology passes your muster, so be it and I will stand down.
Hell no. I just stood up with you (below) so don’t sit now! Besides, the fact that he lied about military service, as opposed to any other bogus claim, is not something that may be objected to only by Veterans. You have as much right to call it as I or any other Veteran does.
Thanks 2/17 Air Cav. Hey I probably spent close to an hour last night reading every story at this link: http://www.48ahc.org/html/stories.htm
It is amazing to me that when you read the firsthand accounts of those that were really there, there’s no “look at me, look at me” bullshit. Just guys and their brothers, playing the hand they were dealt, most often with humor and humility. One of the guys even recounts how, years later, he was mistaken for SF. He did not allow “inaccurate information to proliferate”, he simply said “you have the wrong guy” and that was it. Amazingly simple and uncomplicated, for some.
ditto
I know this guy…F**K that..This guy has been saying this shit for over 10 years and getting work from the music industry out of being a so called hero..I mean. I heard everything and more from this guy. He only apologized because our industry is small and now he will and should be black balled..period
The time to man up is when one is at the crossroad, knowing that taking one route requires deceit, lying and cheating, and that taking the other road means living a Popeye life, that you are what you are and that’s all that you are. It’s nice that he apologized, after he was caught. So, there’s hope.
It took guts to admit wrongdoing. I’ll give him props for that much.
It will take more guts to continue to “fly right” from here on out vice resuming the lies again when the notoriety fades. Only time will tell about the latter.
I hope the guy is one of the few who truly gets his act together. We’ll see.
I don’t give a fuck that he has apologized. He stole something that wasn’t his, used the hell out of it it to his advantage, and then says “sorry” when his other diversions fail and he gets boxed in. I don’t see any apology to those living or deceased that earned their medals or PTS the hard way. Fuck him very much and I hope he lives in infamy because of his willful theft.
There’s two more words I want to add but I will let NBCGuy do the honors as only he can.
I would imagine that he was using drugs and alcohol during that period of time and has since had the Come to Jesus moment that gets a lot of people sober and willing to step up to the plate to ask for forgiveness for the wrongs they did while they were out there…
I accept his apology, but, I won’t forget the sin he did.
The judgement will be left to a much higher level than anything here on Earth.
I did a lot of stupid things when I was young and dumb, not Stolen Valor but dumb enough.
I am only so happy that smart cell phones didn’t exist when I was busy being really young and dumb…
Through his admission of lies and his apology he has shown more responsibility and balls than our commander in chief, Sec. of Defense, Sec. of State, DHS, house and senate leadership.
I used to be the softie with these guys and the record at TAH will show just that. I learned the hard way and swore after the fish-fly guy that giving these guys the benefit of the doubt is an exercise in futility. I have no idea whether phonies caught are actually ashamed of themselves or fearful that they might be prosecuted for Stolen Valor, whether or not the elements of that crime have been met. I have no idea, either, whether the shame, if any, resulted from their being caught or something else. Has anyone ever purged his own false account of military service BEFORE being caught? In any event, I well understand GDContractor’s sentiments.
Who, BTW, is still rocking his lies.
Some people just don’t get it.
FO by Chief Shipley, round launched by Jonn. True Combined Team action.
Splash. Out.
Now that’s a fairly solid apology, and it sure beats a full internet meltdown. Good on him for owning up to his mistakes. If he keeps flying this way, then maybe he’s just a guy who made some mistakes, and not a total shitbag.
Yep. Count me among those who accept the apology, but remain skeptical until sufficient time has passed without further lies to prove that the contrition is real and sustained. In other words, forgiveness is appropriate, but never to be confused with forgetting.
So, live right, adopt an attitude of honorable behavior from here on out and our forgiveness just might become permanent, Clay. There are a multitude of people who have led highly successful and honorable lives with no military service. Your choice entirely whether to join them or not, Clay.
^^^x2^^^
I love these bullshit apologies.
“misconceptions” and “highest respect”.
Sure thing, Fuckstick.
You mean this guy did NOT serve with NAVSPECWARGRU in “Sarasota, Florida” ??? I mean, he looked so LEGIT and everything…/////
How big does the donation have to be for everyone to say something nice about me? I will donate $500 if everyone pretends I am a General.
*Snaps a spiffy salute*
“Good Afternoon General TSO.”
/wait we already have a TSO here…..
//now I want Chinese for lunch.
Why is the wide, wide world of sports would you want to be a general? They are a dime a dozen. Besides, after General Ballduster McSoulpatch, the greatest of all non-general generals, the phony general door was closed.
Dude you married a stripper. I’ll call you General, Supreme Allied Commander, Emporer, King of Kings. In perpetuity. NO CHARGE!
Lmao, so how much do I donate for that to be never mentioned again. Wait, maybe if jonn lets me post a link to her website she will donate a portion to. The legal fund.
TAH’s new motto….”Stolen Valor Justice…One Dollar At A Time”.
😉
Well, we have it on good authority that the hair is now charging for services, why shouldn’t we keep up with the times.
The only person claiming that Don is charging for his services is Bernath. He’s edited Don’s Wikipedia profile and added a bunch of BS. I just got off the phone with Don.
I know, like I said we have it on good authority. This moron will keep it up until a real attorny or a whole firm of them puts an end to his nonsense.
I wonder if that nice WVA State Trooper would like to call SCPO Shipley and offer his friendly advice to just stop exposing posers on the interwebs. His “friendly advice” still pisses me off. In recent news, I have noticed when cops get threatened and harrassed they don’t take it so lightly and “de-escalate” is not part of their operational vocab.
Well this is more than you get from a great many liars, including those who don’t lie about their service just everything else in their lives.
There are many ways to dishonor oneself whether you served in the military or you didn’t that don’t involve lying about being in the military or what you did while in the military.
This site is dedicated to exposing liars with respect to military service, but those liars hardly represent the majority of liars in the nation. It is my fear we’ve become a nation of liars. We expect our leaders to lie all the time and there are no repercussions for that. The word of our fellow citizens is so well respected that no deal is complete with a hundred pages of signed contract explaining in great detail what is actually required to make a home repair or sell some products.
This acceptance of lies directly to our faces at every level every day is why we find ourselves here, as there are literally no consequences for the daily lies that most everyone in the country tells every day many are surprised to find they are called out for their lies here.
I can only hope that the corrective action taken here will initiate a much needed return to the refutation of lies in all other aspects of our lives as citizens in this great nation and that we stop the continued decline into a pit of liars whose collective value of the truth is roughly the same as the value of the rupee to the dollar.
Good luck Clay, you will find the truth a simpler story to tell as it requires only the actual memory of the event as opposed to remembering the details of which lie that was told to which individual.
I think you should reread what he typed.
No where does he admit to lying or that he lied. Instead is was “misleading”, “inaccurate”, and “misunderstanding”.
Good luck with that dipshit to ever go straight when he can’t even admit what he did in the first place. This is one of the most non apology apologies I’ve ever read in my life.
Point taken, it remains to be seen whether or not this will be a valid attempt at redemption on his part or a simple attempt to defuse animosity for a short period prior to continuing forward with additional bullshit.
Maybe he can play at Chevy’s next wedding.
UhUh,
Misleading accounts of my past?
Allowing inaccurate information to proliferate?
Misconceptions?
This was very carefully worded putting some of the blame on others instead of it all squarely on his shoulders where it belongs.
And now, poor guy, he must bear this heavy burden all on his own. Wow, I feel soooooo bad for him.
I lived with a sociopath. This is text book.
This is all about trying to make others say..oh look, he’s sorry and he FEELS horrible! Oh, the shame and guilt! HBut he said he’s sorry so now it’s all ok.
This may be more than 99.9% of the liars do, But this wasn’t written because he’s truly sorry, it was written to manipulate.
Nailed it. It’s complete bullshit.
Agree.
“I would like to issue a public apology for sharing misleading accounts of my past and/or allowing inaccurate information to proliferate.”
What? How about:
“I lied about my past accomplishments, then continued to lie about those accomplishments, lied in supporting those original lies and then lied some more after that, and now I’m sorry because I’ve been caught so I promise not to do it again.”
See? Clear and concise. It’s what we’re really looking for. And cut out that “and/or” crap. We all know that just “and” is the the real deal here.
“I ask for your understanding in that the damage these misconceptions may have caused are a burden only for me to bear”.
Yeah buddy, too bad about that burden, we all feel terrible, since those “misconceptions” were deliberately propagated by you. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.
Put down the freakin’ thesaurus and write a damn apology that really means something, wanker.
Agree with you 100%, this was not an honest apology.
The apology is nice and all, and may even be (semi) sincere. BUT. . . . has he removed his bogus service info from The Interwebz? If not, the apology is totally bogus, and this poser needs to be kicked in the balls hard enough so that all four of his g’parents feel it. Even if they’re dead.
You know, I really enjoy reading this blog and more often than not, I choose to keep my two-cents to myself…. Should probably do that now, but I’ve gotten my fair share of article 15’s to prove I don’t always do what’s prudent. Lessons leared right?
That being said, people are knuckle heads and do knuckle headed stuff. It warms the cockles of my heart to know that the idiots get called out from time to time. Hopefully it teaches them a lesson or two when it happens.
I’m not sure how I feel about publicly shaming them in perpetuity though (perpetuity being the key word). Call me a pussy, but in all my years on this rock, I don’t recall the point of taking the high road being that you can shit all over everyone below you. Sure it’s fun sometimes, but eventually the stench rises high enough that you are wallowing in the same filth.
Have had plenty of CSM’s talk about the importance of learning/improving, but I guess that doesn’t mean anything anymore. I don’t know if this fella’s apology is legit or not, I don’t know what’s in his heart, but it sounds legit and what is the lesson is being taught here; learn from you mistakes, but fuck you – consequences are forever….
I bet more than one of you had some “company grade” type events in your careers that you were more than happy to see disappear with PCS orders
Concur. Is it satisfying to never forgive? Sure it is. You get to divide the world into “nice people” and assholes and you get to be one of the nice people. Everything is simple.
Does it work? So some otherwise decent teenaged kid in a low-income neighborhood gets arrested for dope possession and gets a felony record. Suppose he wants to turn his life around. Can he get into college? It’s hard. Can he get a decent job? I hear that it’s hard to get a good job with a felony conviction. So he has a hard time getting an education and a good paying job. He has no money so he has to keep living in that neighborhood with all the bad stuff that happens there. Tell me how that works for the rest of us?
Did he do the deed? yep. But making him pay for a youthful indiscretion for the rest of his life is bad for society – it is bad for all of us.
You don’t want to forgive? That is your right. But your decision has consequences just like the decision my hypothetical kid made. You are older and should have some wisdom about such things.
For what its worth, repeat offenders are assholes and deserve no respect. We see them here every day. I have no sympathy for them.
I remember seeing one other apology in the last year or so. I can give two guys out of two hundred a break, it costs nothing to try. If it doesn’t work there is no way that you guys and Scotty will miss him.
FWIW I think that Jonn should leave the posts up.
JD thanks for your post. First let me say I probably have more Art 15 entries in my records than anyone here. My life would have been somewhat easier if they had velcro on the dress uniform.
I believe I understand the intent of your post. I too had struggled with the issue of leaving things posted even after someone made an attempt to admit wrong doing and turn themselves around.
I have take a position of Detente with a verification clause. I have several page 12’s in my records, those entries still exist in my records to this day. I was punished right or wrong with NJP, but the entries remain there, as they should.
I was given an opportunity to prove myself as a Marine and I did exactly that. That is how I see Jonn has approached this here. Anyone who admits wrong doing and changes their course can always do what we both probably do about are Art 12’s. I phuked up, I paid the price, I corrected my ass, I moved on.
Everything I type here, be it right or wrong, stays just as long. I will be and have been corrected for posting something wrong, most of us have. I post here because it is the best method I have found to make a difference in this matter. There is a phrase ‘Your actions speak so loud I can’t hear a word you are saying’. If this man walks his talk, then good on him. If he doesn’t he will be reminded in short order.
If it makes you feel any better about your NJP’s I was a Pvt twice, PFC twice, LCpl twice, Cpl twice, Sgt twice and then screwed up a perfectly stellar record at SSgt. Seems its becomes a bit harder to peal them off after that. Semper Fi
I’ve only seen one phony given mercy by the “Cadre” here. He fell off a boat and was never seen again. He’s not on the SV page. He never had the chance to reply & I agree with the decision.
There have been a few others. Some I agree with some not. In the end, it is Jonn’s call. Its his yard. This is not an easy yard to tend.
More oft than not – those that “apologize” make a comeback, a rerun, down the line. They just can’t seem to help it. The lies take over and they so need the drama and accolades it brings.
Ah! The Bribe was offered.
Q: ‘If I pay you some money, will you stop saying those things?’
A: No.
Come on! How transparent can you be? That offer was nothing but a bribe, held out to someone with integrity by someone who has none.
Delusions of grandeur are prolific all over the internet. Hutson must have thought no one would notice. Silly, silly, silly. The sense of inadequacy these people have is weird. The likelihood of not getting caught with their little hands in the cookie jar is pretty low, considering how much every one of them puffs himself off (herself, too – Nurse Murch) as ‘something special’.
You don’t have to steal someone else’s work and claim it’s yours if you’re really any good. You don’t have to claim a career you never had if you’re any good at what you do now. If the desire to be that ‘special’ is more important than anything else, you have a problem. Offering someone a bribe to remove evidence of your sillines and lack of maturity compounds your problem.
Get some help with your problem, or just STFU.
I’m curious where these stolen valor websites get the required SSN’s needed to send away for FOIA requests on these people…
