Every time I’m out…
Fox News reports that the new Afghan president, Ashraf Ghani told 60 Minutes last night that the US should examine our time table for withdrawal of military forces from his country;
“Deadlines concentrate the mind. But deadlines should not be dogmas,” Ashraf Ghani told CBS’ “60 Minutes” in an interview that aired Sunday evening.

Ghani also told CBS that he was concerned about the possibility that Islamic State fighters could make their way to Afghanistan. However, that concern was refuted by ISAF commander Gen. John Campbell, who said that “This is not Iraq. I don’t see [Islamic State] coming into Afghanistan like they did into Iraq. The Afghan Security Forces would not allow that.”
Well, see Ghani is talking about “victory” and that word doesn’t exist in the Pentagon or the White House. The President has already made it clear that the war in Afghanistan has ended – they even changed the name of the operation and had a new flag made and everything. Last year, the Afghan president, Hamid Karzai, made it clear that he wanted us out of Afghanistan. In fact, according to Reuters, Ghani talks to Karzai almost daily.
“Karzai tells Ashraf Ghani to be very cautious dealing with the U.S. and (that he) must react quickly and strongly when they breach the (security) agreement,” said the source, who declined to be named.
Yeah, well, the Afghan government is going to complain no matter what we do.

“Karzai says to act quickly and strongly when the US breaches the agreement…”
So, what about the innumerable times that the Afghan government, members thereof, or Karzai himself have breached agreements with the US? Especially when it comes to how specific funds were to be used!
What did that ‘RS’ stand for on that flag, again? Was it ‘Real Stupid’ or something?
When are we leaving Afghanistan? Ever?
RS = “Rectal Slough”
Three of Four toe Sloth?
Imagine us declaring victory, and leaving Germany a year early, after everybody, including the German High Command, privately admitted the Germans has been defeated.
A country with a literacy rate in the teens is going to do better than the Iraq military in not letting 7th century barbarism roll in and take over?
Good luck with that nonsense.
A nation that has always been a steaming shithole testament to man’s ability to remain ignorant and cruel will remain that way regardless of any short term efforts by the Russians or the US. This backwater turd of a nation will never be a driving economic force because there is no ability to create a cohesive, educated population. Sadly those who attempt these changes are considered infidels and subject to death thanks to the religious inclinations of this land of ignorant parasites on the ass of the planet.
Someday we will realize that some people are indeed like a boil or a cancer on your ass, you don’t try and work with that you exterminate it and move forward.
No ability to create a cohesive, educated population? There’s not even a desire to create said population.
Fuck Karzai.
Considering a “light force” to continue a fight against terrorism and sustain training with the Afghans, why not? This is the country that melted down into anarchy and became a haven for the terrorist that attacked us. It makes sense to keep up a measured effort in the real reason we went to war in the first place. The Afghans will take generations of involvment to achieve good governance and if not will become a haven for evil again. (after the fall of the Soviet backed gov’t that we worked against) In addition to attempting to secure strategic oil fields in Iraq.
“…deadlines should not be dogmas…”
In other words: Be flexible and adaptive regarding policy.
Honestly, I’m mildly surprised that anyone in the Afghan leadership (let alone the President), is capable of such a rational and logical notion (Albeit a truism).
I’m still making up my mind about Ghani. I was fully prepared to write him off but he’s remaining above the competence threshold for the time being…curious.
