Another SECDEF Candidate?
Well, we seem to have a new candidate for SECDEF. Reportedly the current secretary of DHS, Jeh Johnson, is now on the POTUS’s “short list” for appointment to that position.
Yeah, that Jeh Johnson – the same Jeh Johnson who seems to have a problem being particularly truthful when speaking to the press. And who assured everyone months ago that DHS could “stem the tide” of illegal immigration. And as General Counsel for DoD, who gave the SECDEF some truly “head-scratching” advice?
Yeah, that Jeh Johnson.
Sounds like he’ll “fit right in” in the new job, doesn’t he? Well, at least in this Administration he will.
Then again, since he’s already a longtime DC clown krewe member Administration insider, that’s kinda a foregone conclusion.

Hondo, you are being too hard on the candidates on the short list, probably because you are not read in on the special qualifications. Not many people qualify by having the anatomy that permits POTUS to put his hand up their ass and work them like a puppet.
Post a warning, please. I just wasted most of a cup of coffee reading your post. Nicely done, sir..
Said anatomy also needs to accommodate the marionette strings by which Valerie Jarrett operates the Glorious Leader. This narrows the field of potential candidates even further.
Short list, short bus. Is there a difference?
Most of Obumbles administration is made up of people with minimal qualifications for their respective position, including Obumbles himself, so this should come as no shock to anyone. He has a propensity to bring in the least qualified people to do the most serious of duties, so Jeh Johnson will fit right in. He wasn’t qualified to lead DHS, so it shouldn’t matter that I’m more qualified to lead the DoD than he is.
I can no longer buy into the premise that Obama is stupid. I believe this is all being done by design, because even Biden isn’t this stupid. And THAT takes a lot.
^^Like^^ OT, well said.
Wholly unqualified for the job- in other words a perfect fit for this misadministraton.
Hey now! I have just as few qualifications as J Jonah Jamison! How do I get MY name put on that rotating short list for SECDEF? Even if it is only for a year. I could use the extra bucks until I quit (retire). And all’ya’all here at TAH could be my staff.
I dealt with Jeh Johnson when he was DoD general counsel. Not impressed… At all. (sigh)
I thought Janet was bad to work for, then Jeh took over. Made my decision to retire much easier. Morale is just a rumor at DHS these days.
Pretty much like the DOD, RM3(SS). Most of the O-3’s and O-4’s I work with have no intention of staying on ’till 20, and will leave the Navy at the end of their tour. The Enlisted E-5’s through an E-8)are mixed, but the folks with over 10 years in are pretty torn about staying in or not.
In our government, it seems to me that information (ground truth etc) is supposed to flow up to the White House. There decisions are made based on that information and those decisions and policy flow back to the field for implementation.
I am pretty sure that is how it worked in 1945 (think Truman and the bomb) but less since them – think Johnson and RVN, Carter and Iran, and Clinton and Somalia.
Is this a gross oversimplification?
Not really. And it still kinda works that way today, with two caveats:
1. Sometimes folks in an Administration (particularly this latest
cluess DC clown kreweAdministration) are either too spineless to tell the decision-makers the truth, or the decision-makers are too spineless to act in this nation’s best interests. Or both.2. Often times the decision-makers act on the basis of some “unicorns and rainbows” ridiculous fantasy of how they wish the world to be vice plausible reality. That’s been an increasing part of the problem ever since FDR foisted Social Security on this nation by selling it as some type of “social insurance” vice calling it by it’s true name – a socialist income-transfer program.
Jeh Johnson? Good grief, it sounds to me like B. Hussein 0bama & Company are doing their damnedest to find a candidate even more limp-spined and brainless yes-man than Hagel!
GOD Help America!
To answer the question “can it get any worse”?
We are about to find out.
The thorny issue is finding a pliable yes man nominee who can pass muster at confirmation. John McCain will be the new chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee in Jan, and will be in charge of the confirmation hearings. No way Hagel would have been appointed SECDEF with his fumbling performance had the GOP controlled the Senate.
He’s a spineless, bumbling incompetent 0bamite that’s also black, thus I assume anyone dissenting with his crap will be labeled “racist” and their career trashed accordingly.
Aw, come on! Even if Jeh is nominated, he may not get the job. Now you know that.
Flournoy does not want it, and I can’t say as I blame her, either.
And if no candidate will either pass the muster of confirmation or the short list, then what? Oh, hey! I know! No SECDEF.
So then sKerry will probably say ‘I’ll take it’ and he’ll have it just long enough to get fired with the next election.
See how easy that was?
It IS easy. The administration is pulling the Black Friday bait and switch. They float qualified candidates they know don’t want the job, like Flournoy, while having their real candidate sitting in the shadows to be announced. That way they can say that this is the only person they have to put up, so you’ll have to confirm them.
