Michael Harris in custody

| October 29, 2014

Staff Sergeant Michael Edward Harris

We’ve been following the story of Staff Sergeant Michael Harris, the fellow who joined the Army’s Most Wanted list for being a child abuser. The Cambodia Daily Times reports that he’s been captured there;

“The U.S suspect was arrested by Kratie provincial police on Tuesday morning while driving a Honda Rebel motorbike with packed [saddlebags], suggesting that he intended to escape to another province,” said Uk Heisela, chief of investigations at the Interior Ministry’s immigration department.

U.S. Embassy spokesman Jay Raman confirmed that the Arizona native was in police custody, but referred questions relating to his deportation to Cambodian authorities.

“We greatly appreciate the help of the Cambodian authorities for their help in apprehending Michael Edward Harris,” Mr. Raman said

His ex-wife and mother of some of his victims had a hand in the capture;

Mr. Harris’ ex-wife, Denise Diaz, tracked down her ex-husband in Sihanoukville on October 14 and notified authorities and the public via Facebook and online forums. She later offered a $2,000 bounty for anyone who delivered Mr. Harris to the U.S. Embassy.

On Tuesday, she expressed her relief that he had been captured.

“I am elated to announce that I was notified this morning…that the fugitive Michael Edward Harris has been apprehended in Cambodia and is awaiting deportation,” she said by email from her home in Kentucky.

We hope that she gets some justice for herself and her kids.

BOOYAH…..too bad he wasn’t fatially injured while attempting to escape.
Then again, it may be better for him to suffer his future fate alive.

Mike Kozlowski

…I suspect the Cambodian police were none too gentle with him in any event.

Not that I’m complaining, you understand.

Mike

Mayhem

Just from his picture alone I wouldn’t trust him around a basket of puppies let alone a child.

Eric

I would much rather he spend his remaining years in a Cambodian Prison than in a US prison. But that’s just me.

Sparks

Eric…You took the words right out of my mouth.

Me three!

The cockroaches in SE Asia are tough!

How tough are they?

They’re so tough, they wear a hoodie and shoot their autoloader sideways.

….will be deported to the U.S. to face more than 40 counts of possession of child pornography and allegations of child rape…”

He ain’t gonna fare too well in *any* prison because of this….

Kid touchers are at the bottom of the social hierarchy….

” Murderers often rank atop the social order in a prison. In the middle rankings of prison social systems are the more common-place crimes. Burglars. Thieves. Drunk drivers. These are crimes that are committed so often that they aren’t very interesting to the prison population anymore. These are the “regular joes” among prison inmates. Not looked down upon, not looked up to.

Near the bottom, but not the lowest, are rapists. Rape is a crime that not even other criminals condone. Rapists are looked down upon, but tolerated. The other inmates will socialize with them only when no one else is around.

Below even rapists at the bottom of this inmate-created social ranking are child molesters.

Eric

And Chip, for that very reason, as I understand it, in the prison system, child molesters are kept out of general population.

I’m sure there are exceptions, but they are protected from other inmates because they have to be. And if they weren’t, the ACLU would sue the prison for not “protecting” them sufficiently.

I’ve heard that from more than one CO, which is why I’d prefer him to sit in a Cambodian prison, where he’ll be treated like a “white devil” as it were.

Hey, if the computer system says he should go with the rest, the computer system says he should go with the rest…

It’s not the cop’s fault no one told them he should be in isolation.

JohnE

If he ends up in Leavenworth, he will be right at home. Something like 85% of DB residents are sex criminals, and approx 75% of them are child sexual predators…

They can throw him in with Gary S Oscar.

Deposit him where they dropped Bin Laden off…

Green Thumb

Or with BH Austin.

He probably needs a little “prep” before he goes in.

Or maybe Jay Kerwin. He knows his way around a clink.

A Proud Infidel®™

All they need to do is leave him alone among the “lifers” in whatever prison he ends up in, that will guarantee a painful death.

Hondo

Perhaps they should give him a pet snake to pass the time while he’s awaiting extradition.

A banded krait would be my recommendation.

As I recall, Protective Custody (PC, or “Punk City” as it’s known behind the walls) is where the inmate is locked in his cell 23 hours per day. He is allowed out one hour each day into a caged in area for “exercise”. So, it’s not really the best alternative for those who have molested children. Yes, they are out of GP. Yes, they are safe from the inmates in GP. But the trade off is living 23 hours a day inside a 6x6x12 cell. So, they lose either way.
