IS-linked group beheads Hervé Gourdel
The French government confirmed that Frenchman Hervé Gourdel was executed by the Islamic State-linked Algerians in the group Jund al-Khilafah, according to Fox News;
In the video, masked gunmen pledged their allegiance to the leader of the Islamic State group, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, and said they were fighting his enemies. They criticized the French attacks in Iraq as well as its intervention against radical Islamists in Mali.
“Our values are at stake,” French Prime Minister Manuel Valls said Wednesday after hearing about the video. He would not comment further, but minutes earlier he insisted that France would continue fighting in Iraq as long as necessary.
Algerian police and soldiers had been combing the imposing Djura Djura mountains on Tuesday in the search for Groudel.
To his credit, French President Francois Hollande promised that France won’t deviate from supporting the fight against the Islamic State;
“As grave as the situation is, we will give in to no blackmail, no pressure, no ultimatum,” he said. “No terrorist group can in any way influence France’s position, will, and freedom.”
“I repeat it here … we will continue to provide our support to the Iraqi authorities,” said Hollande. That would include weapons deliveries to those fighting the Islamic State group and continued air support for Iraqi troops and Kurdish Peshmerga forces, he said.

You may be right and then, I guess, we await the next beheading or mass murder and INTERPOL (or, pergaps, the DOJ) gets the case. I am trying hard to understand why the nations who harbor these bastards are not given the ultimatum. If someone is harboring a terrorist and the terrorist is in that person’s house, the house gets leveled. If, instead of a house, it’s a village, a city, a country, same thing. ISIS wants us there. They want all of the non-Muslim nations to come and fight them. They are beheading people because it pisses us off. It is bait to draw us in.
What is their vision of how this ends?

What is their goal? They actually do want an all-out war. Like the bully who constantly picks at you until you turn on him/her and pound him/her into the ground (and get in trouble with the school principal for it), they want a real effing war.
Yes, Pope Frances did make a speech in which he said something like ‘go and kill them’, and the parallels in timing to Pope Urgan II’s speech in November 1095 are so odd that it almost looks as though the western world is heading in the direction of another series of Crusades.
The difference is that Pope Urban’s speech was a pep-talk, a potboiler that had the Council and the crowd attending it chanting “Deus vult!” (God wills it!), and I haven’t seen that happen yet. Al-baghdadi might be making speeches like that, you know, but he’s carefully kept hidden.
What’s their vision of how this ends? Not what mine is. If they want a fight, I say we give them one, for real this time, with no regard to how much collateral damage results from it. If Obama has 50 nation states, as he says, lined up to fight this and willing to do so, then let’s do it for real – NO HOLDS BARRED.
But that means it must be a real commitment, to do it and get it over with, period.
If he actually does this, I will, from the day it happens, not say another sniping word about him.
