Dennis Myers update

Dennis Myers - Amy Beller

Doug Sterner sends us a link to the latest in the Des Moines Register in regards to Dennis Myers and his fake Silver Star Medal;

The U.S. Navy has confirmed “unexplained irregularities” in the paperwork of an Iowa military veteran who received one of the nation’s highest military honors from Sen. Tom Harkin’s office, a spokeswoman for the senator said in a statement Wednesday.

“Senator Harkin intends to ensure that the Navy completes a full investigation, arrives at the true historical record and that appropriate sanctions are issued, if warranted,” his spokeswoman Susannah Cernojevich said.

The investigation comes hours after publication of a Des Moines Register article in which several military groups or advocates questioned whether Dennis William Myers, 64, of Marshalltown provided Harkin with bogus documentation showing him as a recipient of the Silver Star medal.

I guess Harkin’s office finally noticed that their vmail box was full and their fax machine was overfilled. But, the Navy has already conducted a “full investigation” and found Mr Meyers completely FOS.

Myers told The Register in interviews last week that much of his military record doesn’t appear on written documents because he was part of undercover operations. He said his record was updated to reflect the Silver Star in December 2013 even though that’s not reflected in the records provided Aug. 19 by the National Personnel Records Center.

Not to mention the fellow who Myers remembered was killed on that secret operation doesn’t exist in Marine Corps records.

Play stupid poser tricks and involve a US Senator and the media, and win a whole lot more attention than you wanted.

It depends on whether the hung the appliances correctly to see if she is “on the level”, but yes, as a male he was a SEAL.

Well “undercover operations” certainly explains all. We’ve never heard that before. Talk about a dumb shit, he paid double what he should have for the certificate in addition to everything else.

Undercover. He looks a little big to be a tunnel rat.

I like Dennis Myers. We may have done missions together in any of my 8 conflicts that I survived.

Like me, he may both “go big” and “go home”. What he’s missing though is a certificate of appreciation.

Nothing confirms a good fake story and spooky, unproven background like a certificate of appreciation

As a member of the Army Security Agency during the 60’s my small section was involved with several classified projects. One in particular was double code worded. That means that the code name was classified TS/Umbra, so we had another codeword that we could use for people not cleared to the TS/U level. We worked on the project for several months before it was deployed to SE Asia. If you asked the Army for my records they would give them to you. Orders, travel, TDY, the whole nine yards. We won no awards for that activity but if we had they would all be right where they were supposed to be. They might not contain the TS/Umbra stuff but there would be enough there to verify that we were still in the Army during those days. When these Ass Hats claim that their records a classified they are just showing how damned ignorant they are of the way the military operates. I worked in facilities where every piece of paper in the place was classified at one level or another and had to be burned at trick change. And yet even the Army would show that I had been assigned there.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen that code word in print before. It’s a little like a woman showing rather too much cleavage as she’s aging. She’s trying to show she’s still got game. Not necessary.

The article states he has two bronze stars.

Never ruin a good story with the truth.

NHSparky

Which he does not.

And for the record, as anyone who HAS done classified ops and received any sort of recognition for same, it says something to the effect of, “On a mission of vital importance to the national security of the United States.”

Or at least that’s what mine say. YMMV.

two bronze stars – I guess the newspaper prints everything correctly. it probably should have only said “one” bronze star.

NHSparky

Again, no. He was not entitled to the Bronze Star either. There are awards for which he is awarded a bronze star in lieu of subsequent awards, but in his case, his highest award was a Navy Achievement Medal (NAM).

Undercover, huh? Woolen, fleece or quilted?

I think this guy has his wars mixed up! I’m two years older than him, yet I think he could pass for my grandfather!

There’s no fool like a old fool.

Secret missions my ass!

And another thing, he’s wearing a American Legion cover. Wonder what the boys at the Legion hall are saying about his bullshit?

First off, Tom Harkins is a lying
POS himself. Said he flew in Vietnam, but in actuality never did. I do believe in his formative years he was previously a congressman’s aide who went to Vietnam in an antiwar mode and condemned prisioner treatment by SVN. Caused a big stink. Then Harkin later lied about his service to enhance his credentials for election. I guess it takes a liar to know a liar. I wouldn’t piss on him to put out a fire. Nothing but a turd, him.
