Ventura/Janos not done?
I was perfectly happy to let the Janos v. Kyle story die, but according to the Washington Times, little Jimmy Janos might not be done suing people;
When asked about his next moves, Mr. Ventura suggested more legal action could be on the way. He said his upcoming plans are to “visit HarperCollins” for publishing a book absent conducting proper “due diligence” on Mr. Kyle’s story, which never actually referenced the former wrestler by name, The Blaze reported.
As soon as he left the courtroom, Jimmy went straight to Russia Today studios for his first interview. During that interview, he told the audience that they shouldn’t be mad at him, they should be mad at the jury for finding in his favor and awarding him $1.8 million. Of course, he could have dropped the law suit when Chris Ky;e was murdered. He does some more whining;
“Like I said, I didn’t have an insurance company paying the freight for me. I had to pay my own,” The Blaze reported. Previously, he had said that Mrs. Kyle “had all her attorney fees paid by insurance.”
[…]“I’m already damaged,” Mr. Ventura said, The Blaze reported. “I can’t go to a SEAL reunion anymore. That was the one place where I always felt safe. I can’t go there anymore without looking over my shoulder now wondering who is going to come after me next.”
Next? There would have to be a first time in order for there to be a next time. Was that an admission that Kyle did cold-cock his fat ass?
Since the verdict, I’ve heard stories on both sides – people did see the hit, people didn’t see the hit. So, I’m taking the safe position, since I wasn’t there; we can all agree that Jimmy Janos-Ventura is a jerk.

I believe Ventura and Kyle got into some kind of argument over the war, but I doubt Ventura said the thing about the SEALs deserving to lose a few. I also doubt that he got punched in the face. After reading some stuff on Kyle, I’ve come away with the impression that he wasn’t above telling tall tales about himself from time to time. Of course, none of that subtracts anything from all the good he did. If he had hit Ventura, Jesse would have ran to the police, he’s too much of a loud mouth bitch not to.
All that said, Ventura is a major shitheel who should’ve dropped the suit once the man was murdered.
He’s not going to have much of a case against the publisher unless he can prove that they KNEW the story to be false and instructed him to perpetuate that story during media appearances to sell books.
Please share some of your sources that show Kyle as a braggart or a liar… I’ve never read or heard anything that points that way…

Two friends of mine that I served in Iraq with bought into the Truth movement to varying degrees. One of them is a full fledged conspiracy nut who still thinks there was more to 9/11 than the real story and the other believed it until I destroyed his arguments point by point. Neither one of them has ever, or would ever wish death on America’s troops.
I find it extremely doubtful that guy who makes such a big deal about being a former UDT member, and who spent so much time attending SEAL related functions would voice, or even hold the option that the SEALs deserved to “lose a few”. Ventura is an asshole, an idiot, and a loudmouthed blowhard, but he’s not the kind of pernicious cocksucker that wants to see Americans coming home in bodybags.

Damaged is an understatement, how a professional clown was able to get elected governor is more a statement on the intellect of the electorate than yourself as pitchman for the steroid enhanced freak show you called home for years…
All you ever had to do was say to Mr. Kyle, “Cool story Bro” and that would have been over with a laugh instead of this nonsense.
Of course the flip side is simple as well, this story added nothing to the book and never should have gotten past a decent editor.
There was no value add in this tale to the overall picture of Mr. Kyle. It doesn’t make Kyle appear to be a better human for fighting in a bar over a perceived insult at age 32…that’s a point where bar fights should be long in your past unless you like spending time defending yourself against assault charges.
In the end there are no winners in this story, only losers….Ventura is by far the bigger loser in my opinion but to many people who still like or believe Ventura, Mr. Kyle’s word will now be suspect as well and that’s a real tragedy.
Bar fights were a constant theme throughout the book, so in that context, the argument with Janos fit right in.
The only problem I see is that Chris should have never admitted to who ScruffFace was.
You are correct he should not have said it was Ventura, nothing to gain from it.
Now Kyle’s lawyer made it so Kyle is a liar and Ventura a victim…in a case that was supposedly a slam dunk for Kyle’s side of the aisle.
I’m guessing that, if, after it was disclosed that “Scruff Face” was Janos, Janos came forward and said that he was being a drunk ass and he caught one in the chin for it vice suing Kyle and his wife, he wouldn’t have a problem at the reunions.
As someone that has lived in Minnesota pretty much all my life; I can tell you that Ventura has very thin skin. He loves to go after someone and criticize them, but when someone asks questions of him, or criticizes him, he gets real mean, real fast.
To be fair; he did have his moments of decency, such as the time he walked out of the Paul Wellstone Memorial turned democrat campaign rouser and he called them out for it to the media. However, much of his good was tarnished by his constant whining and victim mentality, that he brought upon himself.

On a serious note. Janos mentioned he’s on blood-thinners. It sounds to me like he’s looking for revenue to take care of medical expenses. You take blood-thinners for cardiovascular diseases, particularly anything that causes clots. They have some nasty side effects, particularly with long term use.

I think I’ve already posted on several threads about “meeting” Ventura in Person at a fllet week party/ball.
It was kinda a huge let down for me, because I sort of thought the guy was going to be all right. He was a Vietnam Vet SEAL ( thats the belief EVERYONE had at the time) a former pro wrestler and had been in one of my favorite movies (Predator) as a bad ass operator.
Yes I admit I was starstuck. I was also spoiled by having a lot a great experiences at these type of functions. The guest of honor/ speakers there were usually bonafide heros and solid men.
I was looking forward to metting the guy, shaking his hand and maybe getting a picture with him.
When it came time for his speech he came off as a drunken asshole. A LOT of his “speech” was barbs directed at Marines and other services. Needless to say the head table looked pretty uncomfrtable after he made an ass of himself.
Strangely enough very few people wanted to rub elbows with him afterwards.
