Thursday feel good story

| July 24, 2014

Chief tango sends us our feel good story this morning. It’s from Indianapolis;

The homeowner of the house in the 4900 block of Lewiston Drive said he came home to find the house had been ransacked, officials with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department said.

Police said the homeowner heard noises upstairs, confronted the burglar and shot the burglar in the arm.

The suspect ran outside through the back of the house, but was caught by police in the 5000 block of Lewiston Drive.

Police say the perp had a warrant out on his ass already. So Indianapolis is marginally safer tonight.

Good for the homeowner, but he needs target practice.

“Shot His Arm Off” not “Shot Him In The Arm”. If he is going to go for body parts he needs a bigger gun.

Here’s something a little less “feel good:” A guy named Nigel Sykes attempted to rob a pizza joint in Newport, Delaware. He was tackled by employees after firing off a shot that narrowly misses an employee and went through a garbage can. He was subdued by the employees until the police arrived. Sykes is now claiming that the employees and the police assaulted him and is suing them for $20,000 a piece. He claims the employees punched and kicked him and threw hot soup on him. When the police arrived, he said he was unconsciousness but the police handcuffed him and tazered him (which is why they are being sued.) A judge is letting part of the suit go forward. So the victims of this guy’s criminal actions are now going to have to hire lawyers, a trial will be held at taxpayer expense, and the guy (who admitted to the robbery) gets to stay in jail with three nice meals a day paid for by the people he is suing. Sykes also attempted to retract his guilty plea in a motion that was denied by a Superior Court: “In his motion, Sykes also wrote that he should be allowed to take back his plea because, “I’m not good at making good choices.” But here is the strange thing. In the article posted on Delaware Online: (http://www.delawareonline.com/story/news/local/2014/07/21/man-sues-pizzeria-thwarting-robbery-attempt/12967647/) there is a embedded link in this sentence: “The first time Nigel Sykes tried to get money from the Seasons Pizza in Newport, he did it with a gun, forcing his way into the business through the back door.” The embedded link is contained in the words “he did it with a gun.” Wanting to know more, I clicked on the link thinking it would take me to the original story on the robbery. It didn’t. The link takes you a story on Baretta moving its factory from Maryland. Now I know that sometimes these things are auto generated, but Deleware Online should not try to make the case or link to the idea that Baretta moving or legally selling guns is in… Read more »

lol wtf

Why is there a handgun just laying in the dirt like that? Did they make the owner throw his gun down when they arrived to make it look menacing?
