Kenpetch Manasmontri; phony gets prison
Chief Tango sends us a link to the Stars & Stripes which reports that young Kenpetch Manasmontri learned a tough lesson the other day when he tried to garner favor with a judge by wearing a military uniform in the courtroom. He was pulled over by a Forest Service officer at the Cherokee National Forest for driving without a seatbelt and he was found to be driving without a license and no proof of insurance.
After repeatedly delaying his court appearance, Manasmontri finally appeared in Greeneville U.S. District Court in September 2013.
“On that date, he appeared dressed in camouflage military battle dress uniform … (with a) cloth tab with his last named sewed on it (attached with Velcro) on his uniform,” Assistant U.S. Attorney Christian Lampe wrote in the plea agreement. “He had unit insignia on his blouse and was wearing matching pants, belt and boots.”
Lampe “thanked him for his service” and asked Manasmontri if he would “lose rank if he went to jail for the driving while suspended or revoked charge,” the document stated. “Manasmontri said he thought he would.”
Lampe was sympathetic, talking to the uniform-clad Manasmontri about the difficulties of integrating back into civilian society.
“(Manasmontri) then went on to say that he had seen terrible things during his deployment,” Lampe wrote.
Yeah, PTSD made him drive without a license. But someone else in the court room noticed that Manasmontri had the flag patch on his uniform upside down and pointed it out to him. He said that it must have happened in the dryer. (Ha!)
Anyway, it was discovered through more inquiries that he had never been in the military and that he had worn the uniform to curry favor with the court. Now he’ll be currying favor with his cell mate for the next thirty days in a federal prison. I hope it makes him smile.

Yep! He’s a dumbass! Hope he gets ejamucated, too…
Justice was served for once. Of course, this one was so blatant that there was no way this U.S. Attorney could ignore it as seems to be the case so often in these stolen valor cases.
Roger That LT! Never fails to amaze me how phonies will put on a uniform and not so much as Google images of a proper set of BDUs and what they should look like. Upside down flags…they’ll get you quicker than your gig line out of whack. Dumb ass!
The flag was upside down because he was in severe distress…
Anyone else have a problem with Forest Service Cops stopping people for seatbelts????
Uh, no. Forest Service Police in a National Forest? Sounds like they were well within their jurisdiction to me.
They are. And they can pull you over on National Forest land to check and ensure compliance with Forest recreation use regs. It’s been my experience that they usually won’t pull somebody over to ostensibly check seatbelts unless the fellow in question shows some indication of some kind of shitbaggery, be it minor (like littering), major (like arson or operating a weed grow, which is unfortunately quite common on Forest land), or anywhere in between.
They do have a couple of Ossifer Fifes running around, but mostly have bigger things to worry about than harassing somebody “because they can.” As far as the seatbelt check, when some idiot jacks himself up on the National Forest because he was violating the rules that they post on huge signs all over the place, usually the first thing he tries to do is sue the Forest Service for his own stupidity. Seen it happen plenty of times, and this numbnut would likely have done the same thing.
We called them “twig pigs” 🙂
They also call themselves that.
Yes, I do. My mama and my daddy have the right to make me wear a seatbelt. The Federal government, not so much. (And for those of you who are going to tell me that “driving is not a right, it’s a privilege” – that’s cute, but you can stick it where the sun don’t shine.)
I don’t know if this turd is smiling, but the results for this asshat sure makes me smile. What a jerk.
Maybe he can bunk with “LTC” BH Austin.
Someone correct me if I’m wrong, but wasn’t the final wear-out date for BDU’s a couple of years ago?
Yeah at least 6 years ago. But probably attempted to wear outdated BDUs showing he was part of the military (in older times when BDUs were Uniform of the day)
This guy was nailed at a “traffic-safety checkpoint.” He had some problems–like no proof of car insurance and a fuzzy story regarding his driver’s license. He said the license he produced was a “spare.” Anyway, I just wanted to clear up that he wasn’t tooling down a forest road when he was stopped for not wearing a seatbelt. Now, having cleared that up, I have a problem with the police establishing traffic-safety checkpoints or whatever a particular agency calls them. I like to call them “Your papers, please” checkpoints, said in a heavy German accent. As for the prosecutor, I’m not about to tip my hat until I learn that he has prosecuted other SV-type cases. The reason? Without further info, I think he was personally pissed that he was lied to by this guy.
