National Guard to border? Again?
According to the Washington Times, some members of Congress are calling for the President to send National Guard members to the border with Mexico to help with the flood children who have been pouring across the frontier in recent weeks;
Rep. Candice Miller, Michigan Republican and chairwoman of a key border security subcommittee, sent a letter saying that Border Patrol agents need to be put back on patrol duty rather than processing or babysitting for the children who have been caught trying to enter.
Because that’s what the national Guard does; “babysitting”. They do it better than Border Patrol officers, apparently. And that’s all they’re good for, while the Border Patrol are more important, apparently. Well, that’s how I read the statement anyway.
McClatchy reports that allegations of abuse against Border Patrol agents made by some of the detained children through “immigration advocacy groups”. I can only imagine how those charges, true or not, will increase against uniformed members of the armed forces.
And, *gasp*, Associated Press reports rumors that the Border patrol leadership have warned agents against talking to the media without prior permission;
An assistant chief patrol agent, Eligio “Lee” Pena, warned more than 3,000 Border Patrol agents that journalists looking for information about what Obama has described as a humanitarian crisis are likely to ask for information and “may try to disguise themselves.” The email, obtained by The Associated Press, said agents should not speak to reporters, on or off duty, without advanced permission and warned that anyone who does could be charged with a crime or disciplined administratively.
Yeah, I’d really advocate sending national Guard troops, the guys who have been fighting the wars against terrorists into that volatile situation. For “babysitting” duties.

Unbelievable. Well, not so much. It is just another, “sound good solution to a feel good issue”. If they want to put the National Guard across the border to STOP the illegal immigrants from entering in the first place, that I could support. After all, I remember Obama saying the borders were, “secure” and would be kept secure.
Is it against the law for our military to stand on the border shoot drug runners and kick illegals in the ass to help their travels in the opposite direction?
Border patrol is a joke. We have no border right now without enforcement to back it up.
HHS invited members of the Senate and House down to the border, to observe, firsthand, what’s going on. But, no recording devices, no cell phones and no photography allowed. Oh, and no talking to the illegals.
Line the Guard up and turn the illegals back at the border.
UpNorth…You and I as well as most here are on the same wavelength about turning them back at the border. How else do you keep the border “secure” and immigration “legal” at the same time?
Since when does the Federal bureaucracy give orders to members of Congress?
Unless America is prepared to send armed National Guard Soldiers to the border with orders to shoot anything that moves, this idea is another “lets do something that makes us feel like we’re doing something” pile of horseshit. CBP is overwhelmed, they can’t catch them all and when they do, that guy in the White House says let them go.
SFC D…With all dur respect sir, I believe there has to be a way to secure the border, even with troops, without shoot to kill orders unless fired upon by some dumb ass coyote. One way or the other, our southern border is NOT secure and needs to be as soon as possible. This nation cannot continue to support (monetarily, medically and otherwise) the overwhelming, non stop flood of illegal aliens. There has to be a stopping point sometime. Once here, they are either lost in the nation for tracking and then appear on the welfare roles for every handout they can get. Come across the border pregnant and drop the kid on this side? A brand new cradle to grave supported “citizen”. Exactly the kind of voters the Democrats want. I am not saying do this in a “feel good solution to a sound good issue” manner. But do it in a proper, well organized manner. You don’t have to kill someone to say “no and turn around”. Border Patrol is overwhelmed and if not assisted by the National Guard or AD Army and Marines to “protect and defend” our own borders then we are going to lose a quiet war of attrition on our economy.
Additionally, were I Taliban or Al Qaeda or a terrorist of any flavor and wanted to enter the U.S. undetected, that is where I would choose. The southern border.
This is all part of the push to make the demonrats the permanent majority in the White House, Congress and even local races.
They are flooding the country with these illegal children and basically dumping them wherever they want holding all of us hostage to their whims and wants of public largesse.
They are letting kids with MS-13 tattoos in so we can expect to have a lot more gang activity in the areas that they operate in.

Sooner or later we are going to have to deal with this, the old adage “pay me now, or pay me later” comes to mind…
Congress doesn’t have to act to send the National Guard to the border. Border state governors, on their own accord, can mobilize the National Guard into state active duty and deploy them within state boundaries to perform missions as the governors see fit, to include law enforcement. There are a few problems with that course of action, though.
While the mobilized National Guard could arrest the incoming illegal aliens, extradition would probably be a federal responsibility, and we know how that would go. Also, the mobilized Guardsmen wouldn’t have any influence over the USBP. Finally, the states would foot the bill for pay and allowances for all of the mobilized Guardsmen, and I don’t think that, with budgets the way that they are, any state is going to pony up the cash. The only positive that I can see to a state mobilization is that the potential deterrence factor might dissuade some crossings.
On the other hand, a federal mobilization under some authority, would bring the cash for P&A, but would also most likely relegate the NG to being the USBP’s poor step child shoveling crap in the cells while the USBP leaves is relived of some duties to go and increase arrests. Again, no real value added if the only outcome is increasing the rate at which detention facilities are filled.
If we can afford to house them and give them medical and transport them around the country and pay for BP or NG to baby-sit them, then we can damn well pay to send them home. Period.
B. Hussein 0bama & Company can’t give the illegal aliens food, housing and medical care fast enough while they let us Vets languish in the VA System, WTF, WTF, WTF?!!
If they do utilize the NG, it damned well be for something other than coddling and babysitting, they need to be used for securing the Border, something B. Hussein 0 has not allowed the US Border Patrol to do!
OH, and yeah, Common Sense, the ONLY THING we owe to illegal aliens is DEPORTATION!
Someone bough the Queen Mary and brought it here. Someone bought the London Bridge and brought it here. We should have bought the Berlin Wall and brought it here, placed it on the southern border and finished construction, Pacific Ocean to the Gulf of Mexico. This flood of people and drain on our economy is becoming and economic war, we will lose. We cannot sustain this forever. Meanwhile, veterans are dying and not receiving care at the VA, we are spending billion on phony friends abroad to keep them in line instead of forcing them to toe the line. We are ramping up in Iraq again. All these things cost big money. I will vote every day and twice on Sunday for a secure, guarded wall between the US and Mexico. Mexico does not care, they are simply dumping their unwanted here and laughing all the while. We are fighting Mexican gang activity at home and trying to stop their influx. Again Mexico could care less. In short, Mexico is not a friend to the U.S. They are an expensive, non supportive, corrupt burden and as soon as we have the balls to tell them to fuck off, the border is CLOSED and ONLY legal immigration will take place we will be far, far better off economically and criminally and in every aspect of our nation and society. Sounds hard I realize. But times are getting harder for this country. Americans come first. Taxpayers and workers come first. Veterans come first before illegal aliens. Okay my rant is over. I know I am speaking for myself and it is my one opinion, worth no more than my one ass hole.

Since I am on a tear about this. The Mexican Government is currently holding an American U.S. Marine in prison for what boils down to not much more than getting stuck in the wrong traffic lane at the border crossing. On our part, has Obama or Kerry bothered to pick up a phone and make some calls to get him released, no. We got Bergdahl instead. On the other side, has the Mexican Government looked at this and said it was a simple mistake, no harm intended, no foul and in consideration of America’s LARGESSE towards us we will release him, NO. In fact unless you fly into Acapulco with a fist full of dollars we are nothing to them. At the border crossings they show NO mercy to Americans crossing i.e. this Marine. I say we show them the same quality of mercy and human decency when they are crossing OUR border ILLEGALLY as they show our citizens who cross into Mexico LEGALLY. I have crossed into Mexico and been pulled over and the car strip searched and us patted down. Random searches. Why? They seem to be very concerned with who comes into Mexico. I understand the Marine had a weapon in his vehicle. I have also seen the videos of where he crossed and the traffic jams and confusion there. This is Mexico flexing their phony muscles for more money. Period. Screw them and wall them off and CONTROL LEGAL immigration into this nation.
