Emanuel evasive on tax hikes

In this video (at about 2:39 into the video), George Stephanopoulos tries to give Rahm Emanuel room to walk back on Obama’s threatened tax hikes on that supposed 5% of “rich” Americans. Emanuel sidesteps the question twice with some useless blather on building roads and bridges as the answer to our economic woes as well as waving the healthcare bloody shirt.

He says that Obama wants to mail out $1000 rebates to “working Americans” next year, which is fine (although they’re giving more crediblity to the Bush tax rebates of 2001), but Emanuel seems more rabid about taxing the rich than he is about rescuing the economy.
