Jeh Johnson: We must DO SOMETHING

| April 27, 2014

The Washington Times quotes, Department of Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson today on that George Stephanopoulos show, whatever it’s called, singing the song of his (liberal) people;

Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson said Sunday that he was “devastated” by the recent shooting at Fort Hood and will work to do more to prevent mass shootings.

“I was devastated. It’s Army bases, it’s Navy installations, it’s schools,” he said on “This Week with George Stephanopoulos.” “I think we need to do more. I want solutions before I leave office.”

The title of that song is, of course, “do something!” First, I’d point out to the secretary that the latest shooting at Fort Hood doesn’t qualify as a “mass shooting” as defined by the liberal media. It takes more than three victims in order for the media to count it as a “mass shooting” so they can discount incidences where “a good guy with a gun” actually stopped the shooter. Oh, by the way, Ivan Lopez was stopped by a good gal with a gun.

But, I wonder what, exactly, Mr Johnson plans on doing. Military bases are already “gun free zones”, not that people with ill-intentions care much about those laws. The military doesn’t allow open or concealed carry on posts. So, what is left to do? Disarm all military people? Ban guns everywhere?

I’m sure Mr. Johnson felt better about himself after he said those words, and the Liberal Bobbleheads at home all nodded approvingly. They felt better that someone said they’d “do something” without even knowing what Johnson had in mind. Mostly, because “do something” usually means taking away rights from folks who aren’t liberals – especially when it comes to guns.

Across town, Rick Santorum addressed the issue at “Face the Nation” says the Washington Times;

“If we are a country where the criminal doesn’t know if someone has a gun or not, they’re going to think twice,” he said on “Face the Nation.” “I think people do analyze the situation and if they want to accomplish something, they want to kill a lot of people, they’re not going to go someplace where someone will shoot back.”

Mr Johnson’s side wants “guns no where”, while Mr Santorum’s side wants “guns everywhere”. The “guns no where” side has had their way for decades and it’s not working, so it’s time to give “guns every where” a chance.

It’s just like 1969 when John Lennon had his head up Yoko Ono’s ass while she was pulling his strings. His whole “Give Peace A Chance” worked out so swimmingly as history has proven to us. So…maybe as Jonn Lilyea says, it’s time to “give guns every where” a chance. Catchy tune for it too.

The Other Whitey

I still don’t understand why pop culture venerates that douche. He used both of his wives for punching bags (not saying Yoko wasn’t a walking atrocity in her own right, but still), treated his kid like dog shit, was an all-around asshole, and musically overrated to boot.

“Imagine no possessions,
I wonder if you can…”
Said the fucking multi-billionaire, trying to say that we’re assholes for not embracing socialism. No wonder the hippies loved his ass.

One of my two favorite Heinlein quotes.

The other one (which could certainly apply to any discussion of government policy) is:
“Never attribute to malice that which can be adequately explained by stupidity.”

This. The Zen of government and conspiracy theory debunks.

Senator Santorum has the right of it. All the recent shootings were targeted in places where people did not have or did not have easy access to firearms. Make it so that way people can carry weapons around, and it’ll be a much more peaceful society.

Ex-PH2

Several shootings took place in good ol’ Chicago over the weekend, all drive-bys. Several people were injured in them, and several people were killed. One of those killed was a woman who was part of a south side neighborhood effort to end violence.

Yes, those strict gun control laws in effect in cities like Chicago and Washington, DC, are TRULY intimidating to people who have obtained guns illegally, aren’t they?

A Proud Infidel®™

Yeah, I’m trying my damndest to remember the last time I saw either video or pictures of criminals lining up to register or turn THEIR guns in whenever a new control law was passed!

FatCircles0311

If guns aren’t the solution and don’t increase security then why do all those rich politicians send their kids to schools with guns for protection?

Why is Baby Bloomberg always rolling around with guns protecting him?

Calm down, Serfs. The Lords have spoken.

That name, “Department of Homeland Security,” still gives me the creeps.

Farflung Wanderer

Now that you mention it, it is a pretty weird name…

“Homeland”… It’s in the same vein as “Motherland” or “Fatherland”. Why not “National”, or “American”, or even just “Security” with no adjective before it?

A little foreboding, really.

Did you know that KGB (or the Russian words the acronym stands for) is the EXACT TRANSLATION of “Department of Homeland Security” in Russian? Your daily dose of irony.

I will say this … DHS Sect Jeh Johnson is no cookie cutter. Let’s see. What I KNOW is he is a good man.

cato

Let’s see. (?)
He may well be a good man.
I’ve seen enough to make a preliminary determination.

Curbing deportations of illiegals, supporting legalization of illegal immigrants (they “earned” the right to be citizens), hiring corrupt Christian Marrone Homeland Security Department chief of staff and using Homeland security as thug enforcers are good indications of what we’ll see in the future.

What’s next? Support of gun control?

RM3(SS)

I don’t know him at all. I do know what we were told when he took over as DHS Secretary. Our criteria for deportations which were already very restrictive became even more so. The first public statement he made was so anti ICE we were all shocked. Illegals have “earned the right” to be citizens? It’s like we live on Bizarro planet suddenly.
I am glad I retired and don’t have to see his smirking mug on my home page every day.

Jimmy Carter is a good man who helps build houses for people who need it. He is also a clueless manipulable self-deluded idiot who damn near ‘led’ the country irrevocably into the crapper. “Good man” is not enough.

ExHack

When Jeh takes a meat ax to the pathological liars, raging incompetents, schoolyard bullies, sex predators, porn addicts, drunks, grifters, and useless idiots that pass for “senior leadership” at DHS, I’ll believe he’s a good man. Until then, he’s guilty until proven innocent – assuming your leaders are all out to screw you, and acting accordingly, is a survival skill you have to adopt early when a DHS employee.

ExHack

Like you, I have him for an uber-boss.

So far, he has not impressed me an iota.

I suppose that depends on what one means by good man. He is a liberal lawyer who served as special adviser (whatever the hell that’s code for) to John “Jungle Stroll w/ Camerman” Kerry’s presidential campaign. He’s a money man, a raiser of funds for Dems. And, of course, he was nominated to his current position by The Emperor, whose candidacy he fully supported twice. He is probably best known, however, as the guy who invoked MLK’s name in support of the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, something most everyone else said MLK, a man of peace who admired Gandhi, found objectionable.

Brass knob polisher comes to mind, Air Cav.

Was at a function yesterday in which we had a drawing for a Glock 19 that we raffled. Anyhow, a local democrat op says to me, “Why do you people give away guns?”. No brainer there, I told him its a pistol not a gun, learn your nomenclature before commenting. We’re somewhat friendly because he’s from the same part of Texas I am and making an offhand remark again, I replied ‘When seconds count the police are minutes away. What are ya gonna do? Let the bad guy slice n dice your family up while your on the phone pleading for LEO/Fire/EMS to hurry up and come save you”? he didn’t answer that one. 😎

madconductor

His question was vapor. Your answer was factual. Hippies can’t deal with facts. Reality is a bitch.

Good on ya, Brother.

An excellent example of how liberals are heavily allergic to facts and logic!

Johnson using dead vets as props for his gun grabbing agenda. What a douche.

Going by observable trends here, I think it’s probably safe to say that the Glorious Leader wouldn’t have appointed him if he wasn’t such a douche.

The problem is keeping guns in the right hand…and out of the wrong hands.
