Tuesday morning feel good story
AW1Ed sends us our feel good story for this morning, this time it’s from Connecticut where a National Guard sergeant encountered some rambunctious youths;
The man, a National Guard staff sergeant who requested his name not be used to protect him and his family, tells Fox Connecticut he was driving on his street around 2:20 a.m. when he came across two cars blocking the road.
He honked, and the two other drivers “became upset and approached … in a confrontational manner,” according to a police report.
The man, who says he served in Afghanistan in 2006 and 2007 as a member of the Guard’s 102nd Infantry Regiment, says he felt threatened.
The resident told them he didn’t want trouble, and both drivers briefly left but then returned and drove toward his car. One, Edwin Franqui, rammed the Newbury Street man’s car head-on, while the other, Leanardo Vasquez, pulled alongside the man and aimed a gun at him, according to police.
The resident pulled out his own pistol and fired several shots; one struck Vasquez, police said. Vasquez, 23, ran off and was later admitted to a hospital and listed in stable condition, according to police. Franqui, 22, was arrested by arriving officers and charged with failing to drive in the proper lane, driving with a suspended license and failing to carry a license. Police said he later damaged a door at police headquarters and was charged with criminal mischief.
Chief Tango sends us link from Houston where a 20-year-old broke into a couple’s home;
According to investigators, a 20-year-old man kicked in the door to a home on Glenheath and Ruthby around 4:50 a.m. Sunday.
A husband and wife were home at the time.
Houston police say the 56-year-old husband feared for his life and shot the intruder twice in the abdomen.
The man was rushed to Ben Taub General Hospital where he later died.
Houston is marginally safer tonight.

Thank God the strict CT gun laws keep guns out of the hands of criminals.
I’m sure they’ll do a great job at aiding and abetting criminals like Gun Control Laws nearly always do!
As for the Houston story, there’s one less punk the taxpayers will have to feed, clothe, and house!!
My daughter was robbed at work last night. Thankfully she wasn’t hurt. She is applying for her CCW today.
Twist…Thank God she is okay. I am so glad for that. Get that CCW and train her well.
Glad to hear she’s ok. Are you in a “Shall issue” state or a “may issue” state?
I’m in Indiana. As long as you are not a felon it is pretty easy to get one.
I already taught her how to shoot and all about gun saftey.
Glad your daughter is okay.
Two shots to the abdomen and he died. Money says, high caliber round.
hell, a .22 in the liver will screw your day up thoroughly
David…you’re right. A .22 bounces around a lot. Plus if it hits the abdominal aorta that’s bad news.
“Failing to drive in the proper lane”???
How the heck is “One, Edwin Franqui, rammed the Newbury Street man’s car head-on” not attempted murder?
In the case of head on collisions you don’t know which car was moving and which car was sitting still. When speeds are low like below 5mph there isn’t a lot of physical evidence to tell you which was moving forward. At 50 mph it would be easy to tell.
So the officer sighted him for the obvious provable offense, he was in the wrong lane.
I would be interested to know how many criminals who assualt people with a gun got the weapons legally?
well, at least some of the recent higher profile ones did. The Navy yard shooter bought his shotgun legally, as did the guy who shot up the theater in Aurora, as did the guy who shot Gabby Giffords, the Beltway shooter, the Virginia Tech Korean guy… Like any large class of transactions there are bound to be some flaky ones. If you have a fine grasp of irony, maybe it should be advocated that everyone has to obtain guns illegally – illegal guns seem to be used for 1-2 victims at a time. Seems like a high percentage of recent high-count high-visibility shootings have been committed with legally obtained guns. Or maybe we need to ban old white guys from buying? (yes, this is sarcasm)
