Detroit veteran instigated fight
The other day we read about Adam Wagner, the young veteran in Detroit who was beaten outside of a local 7-Eleven convenience store by three others. Today we read that he may have thrown the first punch and he’s looking at possible charges for the incident himself;
Worthy’s office ruled no charges would be issued against the men in connection with the altercation that started outside a Westland 7-Eleven around 1:30 a.m. April 2. After reviewing evidence, the veteran, Adam Wagner, was both the complaining witness and the initial aggressor and continued to be the aggressor in the conflict, according to the prosecutor’s office.
Wagner was the biggest man of the four and began the fight by hitting the smallest of the other three men, Worthy said. The man who was hit fled. A fight continued with Wagner and two other men.
“The complainant then continued to pursue them for over a half mile on foot while the two men tried to hide from him,” Worthy said in a release. “When the complainant found the men, he started the fight all over again.”
At that time, Wagner suffered injuries “consistent with a fistfight” and was treated and released at a local hospital.
“Since the veteran was the initial and only aggressor, the actions of the three other men are not a crime and we are declining to issue any charges,” she said.
That kind of dilutes his claim that it was veteran hate that fueled the fight.

Well I did not expect this. Way to give all of us a black eye.
/PTSD claims in 3, 2, 1…..
ChipNASA Just a +1
Well, ain’t I an asshole.
We fight and fight for the general public to understand the issues related to being through what we have all been through, then along comes someone who does more harm to all of us veterans than we could do all year in under 30 minutes…….smh.
I’d have thrown the first punch too, if I felt I was threatened and in danger. Nothing like a pre-emptive strike to take the wind out of someone’s sails. Plus if you can get one person out of the fight (in a three on one situation like this) you stand a better chance.
With that said, once the other parties have stopped fighting, and/or are fleeing. You stop. You don’t continue beating them, you don’t give chase.
Yea, that whole pursuit for a half mile while they attempted to hide from him kinda blows the whole ‘victim’ thing for him. Oh well, sounds like he had fun.
I want to see the video tape. There has to be a video tape.
Wait – didn’t it start inside when the three thugs were hassling the store clerk? Or was that wrong as well?
That part is correct, and he most likely would be in the clear if he had stopped in the parking lot. But after he chased them and continued? Yeah he should not have done that.
Not saying it’s right, but when the adrenaline is pumping, and you are still pissed about cowards trying to gang up on you and failing, you sometimes do what you end up doing.
True. That is precisely why the military teaches discipline – both externally- and self-imposed varieties.
Obviously this guy didn’t take the self-discipline part to heart very well.
