Vet service center worker arrested for threatening Prez

| April 8, 2014

Green Thumb sends us a link from Montana in regards to Dan Rachell, a Veterans’ Service Center employee who was reported to the Secret Service for threats that he conveyed to one of his clients about assassinating the president;

The veteran also told the investigator that Rachell had become verbally abusive toward him and threatened to “smash (his) skull in” because he currently serves in the Montana National Guard.

The veteran said he stepped forward with the information because he believed Rachell’s post-traumatic stress disorder may be worsening and it appeared he had started a “downward spiral” that could lead to an attempt on the president’s life, the affidavit said.

Really? PTS? Are we all so short of vocabulary words for nutty behavior that we’re going to call it all “PTSD” now? Even amongst ourselves? FFS.

The veteran told a Secret Service investigator that Rachell said he had trained his wife to be a “spotter” and to assist him in an assassination attempt by providing “suppression fire” should the president ever visit Hamilton.

The veteran said Rachell went to “great lengths to explain how he has trained his wife on the rifle range, specifically the Whittacar Rifle Range, to shoot a rifle using a scope, to provide service as a spotter at a distance, or provide suppressive fire to relocate from one position to another in case his first attack triggers a response by police so he can relocate to another position.”

Rachell allegedly told the veteran he had enough ammunition to kill everyone in Hamilton.

The veteran said Rachell was a racist and used racial slurs toward the president and first family. The affidavit said the veteran said Rachell stated that someone needed to “kill Michelle and the kids to save the taxpayers money because they fly around on Air Force One all the time.”

Yeah, this wasn’t the Secret Service’s first encounter with Rachell. It seems they investigated him for the same nutty behavior (which is not PTS) three years ago. For some reason, they didn’t bother to tell anyone, because Rachell had a CCW permit. And he was carrying his weapon into his workplace. I’m guessing his workplace wasn’t in a government building, because it’s a private business.

The Valley Veterans Service Center has accepted Rachell’s resignation. Another article in the Missoulian explains why they might be three years too late;

Rachell was met by three Hamilton police Thursday morning when he attempted to retrieve files of veterans who have turned over power of attorney to him.

The Associated Press chimes with the PTS explanation;

Rachell was diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder and major depression, court records said. It’s unclear whether he was charged in the previous case.

Well, then it makes all of the sense in the world now – he’s a crazed vet who “caught the PTSD”. I’m pretty sure that thousands of veterans with PTS didn’t threaten the president this month.

No, but many thought about it, I’ll bet. Wait. I have to answer the door. A couple of black Navigators with heavily tinted windows just pulled up in front of my house.

He better be a damn good shot as this pResidents security zone is bigger than previous Presidents.

John,
Did you write about this guy before or am I getting my nuts confused?

Seems to me the best way to hurt this president is to let him continue to destroy the country. His ego is all he cares about. He is young enough that in his lifetime history will not be kind to him.

Unfortunately, and realistically, assassinating the current resident of the White House won’t solve anything, and indeed, will assuredly result in an even worse condition, due to the line of succession.

In the event of assassination, who is the replacement?

And, who replaces THAT replacement, et cetera?

In my estimation, the current resident at the White House is a mere figurehead fronting for a hidden governing power that we can only speculate about.

This is also why the impending civil war, which regretfully, I consider to be absolutely necessary to restore our lost republic, is so dangerous, as almost certainly, multiple ideological factions will be simultaneously competing for seizure and control of the national government.

In other words, as in any and all rebellions, who is going to win, and what happens when they do?

I feel like we should FOIA this character. I’d bet we’d find no sign of any combat experience.
