Weekend Open Thread

| March 29, 2014

When Fox & Friends takes time out from making fun of Harry Reid to do a segment on cleaning your Leggos in the washing machine, you know it’s a slow news day, so here is your weekend open thread, even though no one asked for one yet. Drop off your links and tell us about your recipes.

I’ve got to get the house cleaned up for a guest, MCPO NYC, who is dropping by the TAH corporate resort on Monday with cigars and rum.

Jonn and MCPO in the same CP? Wow! Look out for a drone attack from Bernasty/LtCol-Doc/Witless. Wish I could be a fly on the fall for that meeting.

SJ

PS: Jonn…make sure MCPO finishes all sentences with “Over”.

Ex-PH2

Do I hear range time included in today’s agenda?

Make sure you print out the targets you want to use before you hit the range.

Veritas Omnia Vincit

Well now you boys take care and don’t over indulge that rum…or if you do remember that drunken skeet shooting, while ridiculously entertaining, is not an actual sport.

Jabatam

Ok since I was a couple days late to last weekend’s open thread and received zero responses, I figure I’ll try again this week. My MC has raised money as a non-profit organization. We are now looking for a worthy veteran(s) that could use the money. As far as we’re aware, we cannot donate the money to another charity; it has to be to a veteran or veterans. We would prefer to donate the money locally here in Indiana somewhere but that is not completely necessary. I figured I’d throw it out there and see what I’d get back and plus I’m tired of seeing MCs get shit on here so I’m hoping I can show you guys that they’re not all the same

Green Thumb

Good for you guys.

Way to set the standard.

Veritas Omnia Vincit

Is there a local VFW you can speak with regarding veterans who might be home after being wounded and in need of assistance? What you are doing is really admirable and I wish you the best of luck with your efforts.

Sparks

Jabatam…Great news and good for you and your club for doing this. Bravo Zulu! I hope you find a worthy recipient.

Ex-PH2

Ask Twist or TSO. They both live in the Indiana area.

Where is that, anyway?

Hondo

I think Indiana is due east of Illinois, Ex-PH2. (smiles and ducks for cover)

Frankly Opinionated

Bravo Zulu, Jabatam. Sam Shockley is a Wounded Warrior, multiple amputee, living in Ohio, I believe. I think that he is having to watch his finances quite close. I have connections to him, via Facebook if you care to look into his situation.

Jabatam

Frankly Opinionated…can you find me on Facebook?

TSO or Jonn, can you give Frankly Opinionated my name and email address so he can find me on Facebook?

I’m the short guy sitting on a Harley

Valkyrie

The Shipley’s are looking for donations for very sick a Navy SEAL that is not receiving much help from the VA. Just a thought.

Green Thumb

You guys should try to conference call Commander Monkress for your meeting.

You know, check in with him.

Hack Stone

What’s the latest on Phildo’s DUI trial? Has it been held, or rescheduled yet again? If we see any signs on the Florida highways reading “This Highway Adopted By All Points Logistics Executive Staff”, I guess the answer would be yes. By the way, if no one adopts a highway, do they put the highway to sleep?

Hack Stone

We are about two months, give or take a few days, of the one year anniversary of the first troll to commit ritual career suicide on the TAH blog. Will there by some type of commemoration, maybe the Best Of The Lucky Sperm Club? Maybe some limited edition collectibles, such as die cast models of classic Jaguars, All Points Logistics coffered mugs and a limited run of restraining orders reproductions?

SJ

Bernasty and LtCol Doc could save some money and serve Jonn and MCPO in one swoop.

MCPO NYC USN Ret.

He ain’t serving anything.

He has nothing to serve …

Now others … That is whole different story all together!

Sparks

Jonn!!! Man how do you rate? A visit from the Master Chief himself, WITH rum and cigars! Now that’s a photo op if I ever heard of one. Pictures please! As VOV pointed out, drunken range time can be fun, if you don’t expect any great groups from the outing. Just keep ’em downrange! You guys have a blast okay!

Sparks

Jonn, you don’t have to clean up the house for Master Chief. I am sure in his Navy time he has seen worse…and had it squared away in record time. Remember, he knows how to make a bunk.

Enigma4you

Just sent you an Email. I have been driving all day. Sorry

Toasty Coastie©™

@Ex-PH2

I was asked to keep it quiet on the site for the moment, but I am allowed to share it with you if you want to email me. 🙂

Ex-PH2

Sent you an e-mail.

Green Thumb

I have a big pot of vegetable soup on today!!!

Ex-PH2

Recipe, please, Green Thumb.

Green Thumb

A little of this; a little of that.

Give me a few as I have some errands to run and I will post it.

AW1Ed

I’m making a chicken stock, with the idea of soup or stew later this evening.
Pretty simple:
5 chicken thighs, bone in skin off
two celery ribs
two large carrots
one large onion (I halved a huge one)
sea salt & fresh cracked pepper
“Simon Garfunkel” herbs 😉
saute rough chopped veg for a few minutes, add chicken, stir.
add water to cover.
bring to a boil, reduce to a simmer.
skim any fat that comes to the surface every 20 minutes or so.
done when the chicken is falling off the bone. strain and reserve chicken meat. Enjoy!

Toasty Coastie©™

I’m making this again today. Made 4 corned beefs and made the Blarney balls, got about 9 out of them and they are all gone lol, so two more cooking. Next up Spicy Sunset Soup with several types of squash, beets, coconut milk and curry…yummy..If you would like the soup recipe, let me know and I’ll post it.

Blarney Ball

2.5 cups cooked and shredded corned beef.
16 oz cream cheese softened
3/4 cup chopped green onion/scallions
1 cup diced tomatoes~(Set aside for later).
1.5 teaspoon minced garlic
1.5 teaspoon organic onion powder
2 teaspoon organic ground black peppercorns

6 butter lettuce leaves rinsed and dried (set aside for later)
Crackers
Saran wrap
Chilled plate

Set diced tomatoes, lettuce and crackers aside.

Mix all ingredients in a large bowl til everything is well blended.

Take a large piece of saran wrap and place it on counter.

Place cream cheese and corned beef mixture into center. Folder saran wrap around the cream cheese and roll into a ball. Place in fridge for 1/2 hour.

Take chilled plate and put lettuce leaves on it arranging so plate is covered.

Place cream cheese ball onto center of lettuce covered plate.

Take diced tomatoes and spread them around cheese ball.

Take crackers and layer them around edge of plate.

To serve, spread cheese dip onto cracker, add a small piece of lettuce and a few tomatoes on top then eat. 🙂

Enjoy! ♥♥♥

Ex-PH2

I sent you a response. I need an answer.

NHSparky

I hear the mention of cigars and rum, and am immediately reminded of the 1988 movie classic, “Major League”.

Guess I’ll have something to do tonight after working my 12’s and doing laundry so I can show up again tomorrow.

/yeah, I’m an OT whore.

//show me someone who isn’t.

NHSparky

Hey, Buttblast Bernath! Took ya long enough to drop me a line. Sorry I missed the call, but I’m sure the voicemail will provide me with a great deal of amusement, ya fucktard.

Ex-PH2

As I have traveled through life, I have observed the following things.

Don’t text and drink adult beverages.

Lions do not make good pets.

Checkers are best played outdoors in the sunshine.

Kids should be allowed to use their imaginations as much as possible.

Chocolate mint ice cream and hot tea go together quite well.

A cheeseburger should be at least a half inch thick when cooked.

Polish sausages are best eaten grilled.

There is nothing wrong with being a sentimental slob or a diehard romantic.

NHSparky

Also, do not meddle in the affairs of dragons, for you are crunchy and good with ketchup.

Something to remember before you call and leave me voice mails saying you’re going to sue me, Bernath. Don’t make me angry–you wouldn’t like me when I’m angry, even if I am “just” a former PO1. At least it wasn’t fake.

thebesig

Not only that, but you reached a higher rank than Fake CPO Daniel Bernath.

That guy is better off putting a fake tattoo of a birthmark series on his forehead… and going around and saying, “In Russia, president assassinates you!”

Those that get the reference I’m making are simply old. 😀

Hondo

Yakov Smirnoff, perhaps?

thebesig

I’ll take that. 😀 Him, and Michael Gorbachev. 😀 Yakov knew that he was a comedian who made people laugh.

Fake CPO Daniel Bernath intends to be serious, and forceful, but ends up causing us to laugh at him, ridicule him, shame him, etc. 😀

Then we have the fake tattoo on his forehead a la Michael Gorbachev. 😀

Ex-PH2

He’s going to sue you, NHSparky?

OH! You got on his list!!!

Break out the beer and cigars!

NHSparky

Took him long enough–I only posted my phone number a couple of weeks ago.

I’m still wondering if he called the first one I posted. He’d be stupid enough to do that.

Jenny Jenny, you’re the girl for me…(smile)

Green Thumb

Welcome to my world.

Pineywoods NCO

I wonder what Dennis is thinking….considered I been in contact with admin at RallyPoint and sharing some small pieces of information, not cheese, with them.

Jonn, Hondo, I hope you got my email from the past hour.

Hondo

Message received, Pineywoods.

thebesig

If they want Dennis Chevalier to leave, they should have him fetch a 7 pound block of cheese. Once he goes after it, they should close all the doors and give the guards instructions to not let him back in. 😀

Ex-PH2

Free Cheese Day is Wednesdays.

You have to wait until then.

Toasty Coastie©™

@the besig~
message sent…please let me know if it all came through..

Thanks 🙂

thebesig

Thanks. I got one with the conversation about the phantom daughter. Were there others?

Toasty Coastie©™

Should be there now..17 attachments and a few other conversation pieces.

thebesig

Yup, they’re rolling in, thanks. 😀 Just as I profiled, someone with anger and control issues… screaming at the computer even. 😀 No daughter, just what we expected, Dennis Chevalier is a liar. 😀

Toasty Coastie©™

yep…there’s a few more tid bits, but as I said, not sure there germane here..but read through and you decide 🙂

thebesig

Thanks. 😀 If it has something to do with Dennis Chevalier, send them to me. I sent you a response. His “they hacked me” argument is looking more ridiculous by the moment.

I’ll go over these over the next few days, then bid my time depending on what the cheese eater does next. 😀 Thanks for the ammo, looking forward to new ones. 😈

That Guy

Dammit I wanna see…

Ex-PH2

I occasionally wish we could see these things, BUT… I know the time is coming when that will happen.

I can wait.

I have LOTS of patience.

Here you go, Sparky. Cerrano pays homage to his locker god with Rum and Coke at the one minute mark. (No ad. Kicks right in!)

Frankly Opinionated

Awhile back Charles Lattuca was profiled/featured here at TAH. I made contact with a couple of people from his AO, and have learned that he did get some time for some drug dealings.
And, further, learned that those Ranger tattoos are the real thing, not temporary. Anyone up in the Athens Tennessee area that can find out how much time, and if it was County, State or Fed lockup?

Frankly Opinionated

As we disparage, humiliate and embarrass our posers, we should keep this in mind:
Because of them, we have made some good friends among the commenters. I have to thank Paul K. Wickre, and Phillip Dale Monkress for causing me to become good friends with Valkyrie, Proud Infidel n Not Julie Weir.
Were it not for the shyster lawyer, Daniel A. Bernath, I would not be in regular, enjoyable contact with EX PH2.
Dennis Chevalier has been the catalyst for me meeting Toastie Coastie n Fedupexwife. Whitlessone has caused me to strike up a good friendship with several from that era, including a LEO who’s beat is very near to his Orange City AO.
Charles Lattuca and Kyle Barwan also contributed to the expansion of my online friends, and I value each and every one of these friendships, whether “just on the internet”, or our actual meetups, of which there have been several.
When cancer caused my son to leave the scene last October, it was you people who were there to offer condolences, kind words, and an ear if I needed it.
GOD bless the posers, for they unite those who expose them.

Toasty Coastie©™

Yes indeed Frankly!
Because of these fools, I also have made some new and good friends and have been given a new spark…and for that I am grateful 🙂

Valkyrie

Love you Frankie! Can’t wait to see you in Panama again this summer.

Toasty one weekend we’ve got to meet up somewhere in the middle of us.

Toasty Coastie©™

@Valkyrie~

Yes Ma’am! That would be a lot of fun.. 🙂
We have privileges at Shades of Green in Orlando…how far is that from you about?

Valkyrie

Not far at all. I’m “around” the Champions’ Gate area, between Kissimmee and Davenport. Plus “have truck will travel” is my motto. I’ll shoot you my phone number on Facebook.

A Proud Infidel®

Me, I’m looking forward to us having another TAH Rendezvous in PCB! Maybe this time we can meet somewhere like Schooner’s, “The last local beach club” where they serve locally caught shrimp and other tasty saltwater critters! Oh, and they have good BEER (It’s NOT just for breakfast anymore, dammit!) as well! Maybe I could convince Household 6 to host a get-together at Infidel Central HQ, whadda y’all think?

Toasty Coastie©™

Count me in 🙂

MCPO NYC USN Ret.

I am in.

Valkyrie

As soon as I have the dates worked out I’ll let you know.

I agree… the invitation to drop me a line is open to others here that are shaming and slamming the posers. I left my email address for all to see.

If we could share information and inform each other in the internet “back rooms”, we could coordinate our efforts to provide more virtual internet hammering against the likes of Paul K. Wickre, Fake CPO Daniel Bernath, Non PhD Dennis Chevalier, purple suit to orange suit ShotSchoolBus, and others like them.

Just put your usernames in the subject lines, thanks.

OK Guys I’m going to post this idea to Jonn and see how you guys feel about it and get any feedback.

Since we’re a (and I use this extremely loosely) loose “organization” of veterans, active duty, retired military and enthusiastic civilians, is there any thought about maybe making some kind of logo or something about Stolen Valor Squadron (AF & Navy), Stolen Valor Platoon (Army) from what I see “Squadron is kind of general about 100 to 300 people so maybe you guys have some thoughts about this.

I’m just trying to *maybe* give us some cohesiveness and maybe some way we can identify ourselves and make us a group.

Thoughts??

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Military_organization

I’d love to me part of the “Stolen Valor Squadron”

CLAW131

How about this for an acronym? CJTF-PB (Combined Joint Task Force-Poser Busters)

Toasty Coastie©™

I think its a great idea! And I like the idea of a picture..of course though, we woud have to wear war paint or something lol…

Ex-PH2

I second / third / whatever that.

And I like the idea of a stinging wasp, don’t you?

Toasty Coastie©™

Hmm that or a squirrel with rather large chicklets 🙂

Toasty Coastie©™

Flagwaver just gave me an idea 🙂

If we do make a “Valor Thief Squadron/Platoon/Unit” etc. I think we should have special challenge coins to go with our decoder rings and ID badges…whatcha all think?

Frankly Opinionated

Did you know that I will do up things for those of us here at TAH. Some of us have already gotten a T-shirt. I have been using “area” designation, but I could easily depart from that. If you are interested hit me with either an e-mail or a message at my FB page. This is what we have so far:
http://www.cafepress.com/frankopinions/10195358

Ed Meeks

You need a patch or a picture of the squadron together. If each of us email our picture to our great PHC up there in the NW maybe he can have his grandkid photoshop us all together

Getting ready to go see Jonn. New red dress, fish nets, and three inch heels.

Spent the day cleaning guns and polishing bullets.

Tomorrow firing new Ruger 22 rifle.

Bernath is still NO CPO!

Toasty Coastie©™

With all due respect Master Chief, but you forgot to say OVER!

And oh, do not forget that fancy new chapeau..

All good Irishmen must wear one 🙂

Meow, OVER, MOOOOOO, Tweet Tweet!

MCPO NYC USN Ret.

So sorry.

WTF

OVER!

C2Show

There needs to be a new name forming for Witless, Bernath and Wickre:

I suggest the UnHoly Alliance or UnHoly Trinity.

Four man Group: Wickre, Bernath, Witless, Chevy = The Four Horseman of Hopelessness

Oldbull11c

The “Axis of Idiocy”?

Sparks

Master Chief…red dress, fish nets and three inch heels? Pictures or it didn’t happen. Pictures and it does happen…I’m laughing at you till the day I die!!! 😀 😀 😀 But in a good, proper, modern Navy way of course. 😀
(It ain’t queer if it’s on the pier…or something to that effect.)

You the man though Chief. If anyone can pull that get up off…it’s an old, Irish sailor who doesn’t mind stomping ass!

Toasty Coastie©™

I meant to say this earlier..

To all Viet Nam Veterans~

Thank you and welcome home.

CLAW131

Toastie, Thank You. Phu Bai,RVN, July 71-Feb 72, C Co,101st Avn Bn (Black Widows)

CLAW131

Oh, I forgot to add, 101st Airborne Division, APO SF 96383.

SJ

CLAW. You would mention Phu Bai. Now I’m going to have PTSD etc all night. My GP Small was the first one to be erected a few days after Tet in Phu Bai at what would later become Camp Eagle. I was on the advance party from the 1/101 (Sep)(ABN). The great thing about Phu Bai? It sucked less than Song Be. That was a study in economics: when we arrived the det of Seabees there would give us a bulldozer and all the plywood we wanted for a few LRRP rations. Then others came and inflation set in…it then took sundry packs. And then it got worse.

CLAW131

SJ, I figured that perhaps there would be a response from either you or John Robert Mallarnee when I posted. Just remember, PHU BAI IS ALL RIGHT!!!!!

John Robert Mallernee

Yes Sir, I am here!

Arrived at Cam Ranh Bay, Republic of Viet Nam on Friday 12 December 1969.

Trained in Fort Gordon, Georgia at the United States Army Southeastern Signal School (USASESS) in Field Radio and Carrier Equipment Repair (MOS 31 L 20), my first assignment was in Saigon, at the Phu Lam Signal Battalion, 1st Signal Brigade.

After a few months, I went to the 178th Maintenance Company at Dong Ha for a few more months.

Finally, I got to be a REAL soldier, proudly serving in the 501st Signal Battalion (Airmobile), 101st Airborne Division (Airmobile).

I had two (02) R&Rs, one to Tokyo, Japan, and the other to Sydney, Australia.

Also, because I’d twice voluntarily extended my one year tour of duty, I had two (02) thirty (30) day special leaves, first going home for Christmas, and the second time, visiting Israel.

On 21 February 1972, I left the Republic of Viet Nam from Da Nang, where I’d been cleaning and packing up M-16 rifles for shipment back to the United States (or maybe for transfer to the ARVNs?).

CLAW131

John, my DEROS was 12 Feb 72 from Freedom Hill so we may have waved at each other.

CLAW131

John, I bet those M16’s went back to the States, because by that time all of the rifles that had been transferred to the ARVN’s had been traded after having never been fired and only dropped once.

CLAW131

I only spent maybe a total of two days at Camp Eagle. They flew us up to Phu Bai on a C130 from Cam Ranh, then onto a 3/4 Ton up to the SERTS by Camp Evans, back down to Eagle for a little inprocessing, then back to Phu Bai to the company. The only other time I went back to Eagle was for the Christmas Bob Hope show. When the Division was shutting down, I flew on my Huey to DaNang, broke her in half for return to CONUS, ended up working at the Keystone Wash Rack for a week cleaning our company vehicles, then at a morning work call formation they said all of you get your shit together, you leave tomorrow. So, Hello Freedom Hill,Fini Vietnam.

CLAW131

SJ, by the time I was there, deflation must have occurred because Archie & Jughead comics were good trading material for LRRP rations.

John Robert Mallernee

WOW ! ! !

You were there at the same time I was!

Nifty!

3/17 Air Cav

Toasty……Thank you; 1st. Cav; 3/17 Air Cav; 101st. Abn. Div. Feb. 1971 Jan. 1972. Phouc Vinh, Dian, Tay Ninh, Phu Loi, Phu Bai.

CLAW131

Howdy,Steve,I guess this is our chance to talk. By the way, that was a nice R Lee Ermey reference the last time(on that stupid school teachers blog)we posted.

3/17Air Cav

CLAW131….As you can see by my duty assignments I got bounced around pretty good. Beat the bush with the 1st Cav. Out of Phuoc Vinh. Hated it. STRESS. Flew with the Air Cav, loved it.

Took my R&R, was scheduled to be the Colonel’s gunner when I came off R&R. SAFE. Came back off R&R, got ripped off. Sent up north to Phu Bai. What a pit, fog and rain. Plus they were going too send me back to the bush. With four weeks left in country. I declined. The rest is history.

CLAW131

Yes, I never got bounced around at all. I took my AIT at Ft Rucker for 67N,went over and was put into 1st Flight Platoon of C Co and never went anywhere else like some did. They were put into the Hangar Maintenance crew, or into one of the shops or operations, etc. All of the “Shake & Bake Spec 5’s” we had in the company all pulled permanent CQ or overnight shop foremans duties. I guess the Army had invested too much time and money in them to assign them to the flight platoons. That was what we PFC/SP4’s were for. I’m rambling, forgive me.

3/17 Air Cav

Your not rambling at all. The whole thing was a blurr.

My total Army career was 1year, five months, twelve days. Arrived in country as a E-2. Promoted to PFC upon arrival. Made SGT. E-5 at 15 months.

I think the big reason I made E-5 was that I had a CIB. They thought I was the second coming of John Wayne, which was not true. Air Cav guys, as far as the aviation part of it, we were a rare bird.

It appears you live in Idaho. Are you any where close to Boise or Payette? The reason I ask, I makea trip to Ontario Oregon every March to see some of my college baseball. Buddies. Ontario is right on the Oregon, Idaho border.

CLAW131

Nope, I’m over by Idaho Falls on the eastern side right now. But the wife & I are going to be moving back to Wyoming sometime this summer, probably to Cheyenne. We have a son that lives in Denver and its only a two hour drive from Cheyenne.

3/17 Air Cav

Sooo, Claw, were you a RA or a Us? I’m guessing you joined. Since you got some schooling.

I remember getting Xmas leave with a week left in AIT at FT. LEWIS. They told us we were all going to Panama when we came back for our last week.

Since our MOS was 11B, we knew where we were going.

CLAW131

I was RA. When the Career Counselor in Chicago told me I could have any job in the Army, I took Aviation Maintenance hoping to be a Fixed Wing Mechanic. You see how that turned out. Yea, we knew halfway through AIT we were going to RVN. Out of my class of 12 guys, 10 went to VN. The other two were not yet 18,so one went to Alaska and the other to Korea. Besides, the nick name for Ft Rucker was The Advanced Viet Nam School (USAAVNS).

John Robert Mallernee

I used to live in the apartment above the lobby of the “ROXY” Theatre in Saint Anthony, Idaho, which is right by Montana and Wyoming.

The Grand Tetons are visible from Saint Anthony, and moose regularly stroll through town, just like in the television series, “NORTHERN EXPOSURE”.

I performed in several community theatre productions, and also performed at numerous cowboy poetry gatherings.

At Ricks College (now, BYU Idaho) in nearby Rexburg, I enjoyed being a volunteer reader to the blind, and I also taught adults how to read and write, plus, I became trained as an Emergency Medical Technician.

IF this will work (fingers crossed), here’s a couple of songs that I composed:

John Robert Mallernee

Well, ONE (01) video successfully appeared, but none of the others did, nor did the photograph appear.

I wonder why?

Mox nix.

Xin loi.

CLAW131

There were probably a half dozen 11B CE/DG in our flight platoons. All good men who knew what it took to get the job done. The rest of us were 67N20/67A1F. Yes, if anybody ever asks about it, the Army did have a specific MOS for a Door Gunner. It was 67A1F, which breaks down to Aviation Maintenance Apprentice, Flight Qualified.

3/17 Air Cav

Looking at my records, while flying, my records reflect my MOS still showing 11B but ending with a “F” which I assume means flight

Sparks

3/17 Air Cav that is my memory. Other than the crew chief a lot of gunners were pulled from 11 Bravo.

MCPO NYC USN Ret.

I just read through all that Army stuff above and below. I have no idea what it means … But it sounds legit to me.

CLAW131

Master Chief, my son who had his retirement ceremony in Seattle last month, said the same to me. He says ” Dad, I know you’re talking about the Army, but slow down.” BTW, he put in 26, was a CSCS(SS)and is now on terminal leave prior to his final move to Baton Rouge, and is stopping by for a week here in Idaho on his way to LA. I’ll get him on here and say hello to you when they arrive.

MCPO NYC USN Ret.

Sure thing. Tell him about Birdbath. Virtually every CPO in the free world knows about him and we need to make sure everyone spreads the love.

Ex-PH2

I was a shore duty puke the whole time, but thank you anyway.

3/17 Air Cav

But what a hot shore duty puke you were! (Smile)

Enigma4you

Jonn I have 6 of the finest cigars money can buy and cubans can smuggle. One has your name on it.

Enigma4you

I have a Henry Big Boy 54 LC that loves to be shot. We need to get together and kill some targets.

So I am in Nebraska, 37 foot 5th Wheel and the wonder dog.

The wind was brutal today, it was more like sailing than driving. Wyoming tomorrow, then points west.

CLAW131

E4Y, be advised, it is raining pretty good here in Idaho right now,and by the time the storm rises up over the Rockies/Tetons and cools off, the result may be some of that Spring Rocky Mountain Sunshine that closes I-80 on occasion.

MCPO NYC USN Ret.

I heard it was raining pretty hard in El Casa De Klulise, New Mexico where EX-PH2 lives. And it is raining hard here at my FOB Warwick.

John Robert Mallernee

Comrades in Arms: A few hours ago, being in great pain, I took some of my prescribed medication, and crawled into the sack to cut some serious zzzzzzzs. However, just now, I was suddenly startled awake by the sound of incoming celestial artillery fire, along with the brilliant flashes of the exploding rounds. Realizing that Keesler Air Force Base and the Armed Forces Retirement Home were under attack by an unseen enemy, I quickly retaliated by launching a gas attack, firing off several effective rounds. It’s a good thing I’d prepared myself by drinking cans of O’Doul’s alcohol free beer, while chowing down on sandwiches and fruit. I don’t see any of the NATO F-35 fighter jets, SAC B-52 bombers, nor paratroopers in C-5s taking off from Keesler Air Force Base. So I’m guessing that all of the aircraft were destroyed while still on the tarmac. Similarly, there’s no visible evidence that any of the nuclear missiles have been launched from their silos in downtown Biloxi, Mississippi, nor from the innumerable nuclear submarines, guided missile frigates, and PT boats which constantly patrol, just a few yards from the shore, in the heaving, stormy, monumentally mammoth waves of the Mississippi Sound and the Back Bay. Thus, it’s tragically evident that, during the brief encounter, all of the naval resources were also sunk in the Missippi Sound’s bottomless depths. Now that the thunder and lightning have ceased, with everything dark and silent, I’m guessing the attack is over. Maybe it was only sporadic, random Harassment and Interdiction fire (i.e., “H & I”), intended to keep our nerves on edge, by not allowing us any moments of relaxation. What do you think? Oops, I thought the attack was over, but thunderous sounds now indicate additional incoming artillery rounds have impacted on Mississippi soil. Do you reckon that the Amazon or Walmart web sites will sell me a Browning M-2 fifty caliber heavy machine gun, along with several cans of tracer ammunition, to mount on the rail of my balcony? Still, the sounds of impacting artillery explosions appear to be gradually fading away into… Read more »

What the heck happened?

Sir,

I happen to be up.

How are things w/ you down there in the Great State of Mississippi?

Living in the great NW…..; I lose touch.

I enjoy your posts.

John Robert Mallernee

Green Thumb, Et Alii:

Things are pretty darn good – – – for most folks here.

But me?

To be honest, even as I type this, I’m struggling to endure aggravating pain and muscle spasms.

It’s so bad, I can’t even pick up my guitar, or sit still to watch a DVD.

However, the weather is improving, and I’m really living the life of Riley in this luxuriously furnished studio apartment, with its fantastic view, my wide screen LED television, my microwave oven, and my refrigerator.

Due to my failing health, when I go to the mess hall, instead of having to go through the chow line, I now sit at a table to be waited on by the staff.

There’s lots of organized trips and activities, and I used to enjoy participating.

Now, I seldom leave my room, take a ton of assorted prescribed medications (my nightstand looks like I robbed a pharmacy!), and spend a lot of time in bed, for that’s the only way to ease the pain.

Mox nix.

I done what I could when I was able.

Life goes on.

I wish that I could have a dog, but pets aren’t allowed here.

Green Thumb

Hang in there.

Ex-PH2

Will pictures of my cats do?

John Robert Mallernee Thank you for serving sir. I pray the best for you. Please keep us posted about how you are doing. God Speed.

UpNorth

John, don’t get a pet, get a service dog. I don’t think they can ban service dogs.

SJ

Is there going to be an AAR on yesterday’s meeting between Jonn and MCPO? With pictures? Anyone served by the sheriff?

SJ

Ahhh. My bad. Plus TSO said there would be a big expose Mon also. Can’t wait.

NHSparky

I wish I could do cigars and rum on a Monday.

Hell, I wish I could do cigars and rum ANY day.

Jonn: Check your equipment before the inter-branch summit.

MCPO NYC USN Ret.

First, this is purely a social visit long in the making. I orginally was to be in his AOR for business on Tuesday, with that trip cancelled on Friday … I am still going. My lovely wife has given me permission.

I imagine Jonn and I will chew the fat and spin the yard and while visiting certainly more serious issues will probably be discussed. However, don’t expect any secret government conspiracies to be discussed here at TAH.

Such topics are … Ah … SECRET.

If Jonn wished to give an AAR of our activities during the social call, I am certain he will do so with relavancy and humor while remaining pithy and discreet!

Any questions?

OK then …

Carry on!

SJ

Again? You forgot “Over”.

Enjoy the summit.

Ah … No comment on kawinkadink.

I occasionally travel to THAT area to conspire and other things …

Hey, I’m excited. Should I make popcorn?

Joe Williams

I was at Ky Ha in June of 66. Ky Ha was 6 miles N of Chu Lai helos only. Went abroad a LPH and back to Ky Ha and sharing the base with the Army helos. Back on a LPH again. Went to Phu Bai this time. Were the wooden 2 story barracks still standing? Was at Phu Bai when Tet started. On a LPH again went ashore at Marble Mountain left RVN in Sept. 68. I was with HMM 362 the whole time in the RVN. I landed in some very interesting landing zones while in country. Joe

Sparks

Thank you for serving as one of the “Ugly Angels” Mr. Williams.

Joe Williams

Sparks, how did we (the Ugly Angels) meet with you? 2/17 Air Cav. No Sir if I had been given such a honor . I would still have it.

2/17 Air Cav

This is going to seem an odd question, Joe Williams, but did I give my VN-era paratrooper’s helmet to you?

CLAW131

2/17 Air Cav, a quick question to you. Were you in RVN with 2/17 or at Campbell after? The reason I’m asking is that C Troop 2/17 occupied the next set of revetments at Phu Bai to my outfit (C 101 AHB, The Black Widows)

2/17 Air Cav

CLAW 131: No, I was with the 2/17 (HHT) after the 101st returned. I went in in ’72 and arrived at Campbell (Sabre Heliport and our ‘hidden’ barracks way off in the corner) in very late ’72 or very early ’73. I’d have to look at my original orders (which I still have) or DD 214 to get the date right.

CLAW131

Well, 2/17, we both were at Campbell at the same time. After DEROS, the Army sent me down to Ft. Bliss and I was assigned to the 1/3 ADA (Towed Vulcan)that was just forming up to start training. That is where the Army turned me into a Automotive Parts Clerk for the motor pool. We completed our training out at McGregor Range and unit moved to Campbell in Nov/Dec 72. I completed my first entire enlistment with the 101st before going to Germany in Oct 74. Yes, I remember that the 2/17 was off by themselves while there at Campbell. Thanks for answering.

Claw… Just wanted to congratulate you on your sons pending retirement.

I think it might be a good idea for you to wear a buttonless shirt to the ceremony. It would be terrible for you to lose a eye at this late date. (Smile)

My son has been in the Air Force for 11-12 years. Going to make a career of it. When he retires I’ll follow my own advice, and wear a buttonless shirt.

Re: “Went to Phu Bai this time. Were the wooden 2 story barracks still standing?”

Joe, I want to say those barracks were where I met the Seabee’s while on the advance party from the 1/101(ABN)(SEP).

But, that’s a long time ago esp when I can’t remember what I had for breakfast. I do remember that those Seabee’s were awesome gents who had just got hammered at Tet a week or two earlier and were damn glad to see the 101st.

Joe Williams

The wooden barracks used to sway with the wind. Tet was hard on everybody. I removed 6 or 8 fuel cells and replaced while laying on a 12 by 2 five foot long.I did 48 or 72 straigt hours. and our Maintence chief after 3 hours , one hours spent trying to the Gas Resistant Grease off of me. Top sent a E-4 to tell me to report back to the maintance shop. I did and Top tells the Maint. Officer to pay up. Top says I told he would report in. He thens sent me back to get some sleep. Joe

Fecal Phil Monkress, the Felonious Fake, is still avoiding calls seeking clarification of his Navy SEAL, Native American and Law Enforcement claims (Brevard County Sheriffs Deputy).

It is my understanding that there has been another purge at All-Points Logistics and Felonious Phil is pushing non-disclosure agreements hard. I find that odd in that half of his employees refer to him as Commander Monkress, the other half (senior staff included) do not seem to know who he is. Like Smith and Wolf. Losers.

And all the while they all profit by spreading his claims. Right Colonel?

All occurring as the taxpayer continues to get bent over. But things may be changing. I do not know yet, but instead of coming clean “Commander” Monkress rocked the lie to the wrong guy at a very different level. We will see what happens. It is my sincere hope that All-Points Logistics and its Phildo supporters that are complicit with his lies becomes elements of the past. time will tell.

Charlatans.

clamsgotlegs

I hope some OIGs are having fun with this case.

Green Thumb

But wait!!!

Its a simple misunderstanding according to sources.

But yet “Fecal Phil” avoids call confirming his rightful title as he made last year’s Finals.

Hondo

It’s freaking snowing here.

Snow is a 4-letter word. And not a good one.

CLAW131

Hondo, it started snowing here (Idaho Falls) about 0530 this morning and just stopped about a half hour ago. Probably 8+ inches of nice heavy wet stuff. It will all be gone by tomorrow. Funny thing, when I was scooping out the driveway a while ago, there were night crawlers in the scoopfuls of snow.

John Robert Mallernee

Hey, CLAW131:

When I lived in Saint Anthony, I used to go to the Idaho Falls Temple!

Also, I performed several times at “The Lost Arts” cafe, which no longer exists.

As a volunteer Adult Literacy teacher, I was trained and certified at the Idaho Falls Community College.

While training as an Emergency Medical Technician, I did my internships at the Idaho Falls Regional Medical Center, and with the Idaho Falls Fire Department.

Ex-PH2

Warm, sunny day here, Hondo. Clear skies, puffy cirrus clouds here and there, and everything is melthing.

Most important, I went out without a jacket. It was nice. And gas dropped about $.15/gallon since a week ago.

MCPO NYC USN Ret.

Joan,

How is the weather in Rhode Island? I was stationed in Newport on two ships there it is awesone! How is seashore restoration project going?

It’s been raining like a cow peeing on a flat rock here in the Northwest.

Went north towards Seattle, almost had to pull over. Heavy rain even by the great Northwest standards.

I have seldom been so disappointed with a piece of meat.
