Monday morning feel good story
Chief Tango sends us our feel story to start our week out on the right foot. This one comes from VirginiaNorth Carolina wherein a local business owner heard someone in his business knocking around and went to investigate;
Halifax County Sheriff Wes Tripp said deputies responded to a business in the Roanoke Rapids area around 11:40 p.m. Friday in reference to a shooting. Upon arrival, Tripp said, deputies found Cul Priest Jones, 40, lying in the parking lot suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
Tripp said the business owner, who also resides at the business, was awakened during the night and when he went to investigate, found the suspect behind the cash register with a handgun. The business owner, Tripp said, was assaulted during the encounter and fired “several” shots at the suspect with a handgun.
Investigation revealed the suspect had attempted to pry open two safes as well as the register.
Mister Jones, up until a few weeks ago, had been serving a fifty-year sentence he was handed in 1991 for a string of burglaries, evading apprehension and shooting a deputy. So I guess he’s not going to get out of the sentence handed to him by public justice. The business owner is not going to be charged.

It sounds like the Business Owner could use some range time, that could have saved the taxpayers some money. Now they’re stuck with another punk they’ll have to patch up, feed, clothe, and house for years to come!
Sounds like a good weekend was had by the business owner.
Why couldn’t the perp had done what those kids in NH had done when they tried to blowtorch their way into a safe full of fireworks?
It’s good news week! But if the unfortunate soul – I mean, burglar — who was burglarizing the establishment had a 50 year sentence, does he get to finish that one now?
From the article, “Jones was sentenced to 50 years, 2 months and 20 days on May 23, 1991, for the attempted killing of the deputy.” Hope he enjoyed his three weeks of freedom. Question is, WTF was he doing out of prison? And he escaped from prison for a while in 1995. Jeez. Bet the deputy he shot at in ’91 would like some answers as well. Looks like problem solved at this point anyway.
Chief Tango, once again my morning Cuban Coffee is enhanced with a great “Feel Good Story”. Keep em coming.
This incident happend in North Carolina and the information disclosed in these papers are incorrect and the case is still under investigation. I wish like hell people wound not slander his name to get a story and all the information is false and incorrect.
All I have to say is, those in prison rehabilitation programs are really working out, don’t you think. I mean out on a fifty year sentence would have made me kiss the free ground and go straight to a seminary and enroll. Some people never learn and this guy’s learning days are over.
@ #7: So, the guy shot had NOT recently been released from prison??? Guess he is an upstanding, family man, who just happened to be inside a business with burglar tools in the middle of the night.
@7…no, wait, let me guess…”he was in the process of turning his life around”, right?
@7 – Seems to me if the police are those who released the culprit’s name to the media, it’s hardly slander, especially since the police seem to have all the facts at their disposal.
So how is it false and incorrect, again? Do you want to explain that? I’m sure you have a VERY interesting take on it.
Shoot a cop?
Fuck it, paroled!
