Karzai moves the goal posts
Yesterday, we read how Afghanistan’s Hamid Karzai told his own elders’ council how he was ignoring their advice to sign a new security agreement with the US. Well, today, we learn that he dumped a bunch of new conditions on Susan Rice when she met with Afghanistan officials. From Fox News;
One new demand was that the United States should address a suggestion by the Loya Jirga that all Afghan prisoners be released from Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.
According to the statement, Karzai “said the United States of America should respond to the suggestion mentioned in the resolution of the Loya Jirga to free all the afghan prisoners in Guantanamo.”
There are nearly 20 Afghans currently being held at the American facility in Cuba.
Yeah, well, that’d be cool, except that Aghanistan has had several successful jail breaks among their own prisons, so we just might as well drop the Guantanamo Afghans from aircraft over the country, which isn’t a bad idea actually. So, Rice threatened to remove all US troops from the shithole next year;
The White House said Monday that Rice responded by saying this would mean the U.S. would then start planning to pull out all its forces after 2014, adding that a signed agreement is necessary to plan for thousands of troops to stay in the country to train and mentor Afghan security forces to face the Taliban.
“Without a prompt signature, the U.S. would have no choice but to initiate planning for a post-2014 future in which there would be no U.S. or NATO troop presence in Afghanistan,” she told the Afghan president.
That’s not a bad idea, either. But it evidence of the incompetence of this administration. They couldn’t secure a place for US troops in Iraq so they could avoid the violence they’re experiencing now. The Obama Administration is currently discussing how we can use US forces to help Iraq secure their people. And now this administration is going to set us up in Afghanistan the same way.

How screwed up can one administration be? It is incredible. No, I’m not talking about Karzai or his Loyal Jerkoffs. I’m talking about the idiot in the White House and the morons surrounding him. How in the hell is the country to survive this guy. He’s got more than three years remaining in his second term. Unbelievable. so, let me take this moment to thank each of you nincompoops and knuckleheads who helped in be elected and re-elected.
Article in the paper today about how Obama worships at the altar of ‘negotiation’ and diplomacy. Considering he either a) refuses to make any concessions to anyone or b) drops his drawers and says “please sir, just one more” it’s kind of hard to tell where the word negotiation applies. Capitulation or petulance maybe, but not negotiation.

I remember Hillary and Obama during the primaries in 2008 talking about how they’d use diplomacy like it was Miracle Grow or something like that. Diplomacy isn’t a physical object that you just pour on the problem to fix it. There was a writer during that period who said “take out every instance of “diplomacy” from their speeches and replace it with “magic” and you’ll have a narrative that actually makes sense.”
What most Dems (or politicians, period) forget are the words of Will Rogers when he said, “Diplomacy is the art of saying, ‘Nice doggie’ until you can find a rock.”

If you are protesting that war, sit down, breath deeply and softly, count to ten, and listen up: that war ended in 1975. That aside, despite numerous opportunities to provide the what, where, and how of your claim, you have not once provided a scintilla of evidence that you, in fact, ever protested. You claimed to have given advice to Dream Act recruits or something but advice is not protest. So, why don’t you gather your protest bona fides together and serve them up? Or go away.
