Paying Pakistan to like us
Remember the stink that Pakistan made over the bin Laden killing? Remember that Pakistan locked up the doctor who gave us information that led to that operation? Remember when the Pakistanis wanted us to end our drone program designed to kill terrorists? Well, that’s all past now. Apparently, things have improved so well that the Obama Administration decided to give them a billion and a half dollars to be our friends, according to a link sent to us by ROS from CNN;
The official told CNN foreign affairs reporter Elise Labott that the decision was made because of improved relations over the past year.
Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, who was elected in May, is scheduled to meet President Barack Obama at the White House on Wednesday. “The visit will highlight the importance and resilience of the U.S.-Pakistan relationship,” a White House statement said.
Tensions with Pakistan escalated after the U.S. military raid that killed Osama bin Laden in 2011. Pakistan expelled some American military trainers, and some U.S. aid was halted that year.
I’m sure this will make them like us more, and the Pakistanis will immediately release SGT Bowe Bergdahl who is being held by the Pakistani Haqqani terrorist network.
Meanwhile, we’ll kick military retirees off from the medical programs, jack up their premiums and raid their surplus so we can afford to pay the corrupt Pakistanis to like us. Yes, I know that money for foreign aid is “different money” than our health care money, but it all comes from the same place. And giving $1.6 billion to the Pakistanis isn’t a cost effective solution to our problems in the region.
They’re still going to avoid decisive battle with the Taliban and the Haqqanis, they’re still going to release terrorist prisoners back into the fray, and Bowe Bergdahl will remain a prisoner and under the threat of death on a daily basis.

Probably bribe money to keep the retrograde LOCs open through Pakistan. USFOR-A is in a bind over how much it’s costing to ship equipment out through the north.
The Doctor is still imprisoned.
The Paki supply routes are still overpriced.
The POTUS still behaves as if foreign leaders are his servants. He HAS to send money to the provincial govts.
Well Obama is using the same policy in his Foreign efforts as he does in the US.
“Give them free money and they’ll like us and help get us re-elected.”
and yet they cut aid to Egypt, a country killing the b**tards that need killing…
Rudyard Kipling had a better take:
“…It is always a temptation for a rich and lazy nation,
To puff and look important and to say: —
“Though we know we should defeat you, we have not the time to meet you.
We will therefore pay you cash to go away.”
And that is called paying the Dane-geld;
But we’ve proved it again and again,
That if once you have paid him the Dane-geld
You never get rid of the Dane.”

“Yes, I know that money for foreign aid is “different money” than our health care money, but it all comes from the same place.”
Bingo. I always love the ‘Well, the money could not have been used for blah, blah, blah’ for the very reason you gave. Either the money came from us taxpayers or, if borrowed, the loan has to be repaid by us taxpayers.
Some may call it foreign policy,
Some may call it Dane-Gelt.
But the Muslims know what it is, Jizya.
Too bad it won’t be 1.6 billion worth of high order detonations….I no longer care who likes us, I am beginning to believe that for muslims the only thing they actually respect is overwhelming force. If a nations harbors our enemies they must be an enemy, or at least so weak as to be useless to our cause and thus an enemy asset or resource. Either way the outcome should be the same for our enemies, their allies and those who harbor them, abject misery and unrelenting death until their kind joins the dodo in the annals of species that weren’t capable of adapting and becoming successful in the evolution of the species.
$1,600,000,000 cash money? Well, that WILL buy a lot of weapons and ammo.
A mere nothing. La-de-da.
to paraphrase something said two weeks ago: we didn’t have enough money to keep our war memorials open, but we have enough money to throw 1.5 billion to Pakistan….right.
