1-in-5 CIA applicants have terror links

| September 2, 2013

The Washington Times reports that 20% of applicants for CIA have links to Hamas, Hezbollah or al Qaeda according to some of the documents released in Eddie Snowden document dump;

The document — released by Mr. Snowden as part of his National Security Agency intelligence dump — said the terrorist groups worked hard to infiltrate America’s top security agencies. CIA officials uncovered thousands of applicants, roughly one in five of a subset, with “significant terrorist and/or hostile intelligence connections,” the document states, as Ynet News reported.

“Over the last several years, a small subset of CIA’s total job applicants were flagged due to various problems or issues,” one unnamed agency official said, as Ynet News reported. “During this period, one in five of that small subset was found to have significant connections to hostile intelligence services and-or terrorist groups.”

Those are just the people that they discovered. It makes one wonder how many of the smart ones made it through the process. Well, it makes me wonder, anyway.

Jonn, are we on the CIA’s list? I remembered the Army does not like us. I don’t think The Army Times or the Stars N Stripes have us on their Christmas Card list? Just wondering Joe

What scares me more are the Scientologist that apply to these agency’s in hopes of protecting the Church and advancing it’s power.

The CIA has been, and should be, recruiting, among other things, people who speak Farsi and other languages. Question: just how many Farsi speakers DON’T have terrorist connections? I do not mean to imply disloyalty. However, the family ties and social connections of any native Farsi speaker are likely, in my opinion, to turn up connections with terrorists, simply due to proximity.

Maybe I am mistaken about the operative definition of “connections.”

As if that matters. Our President and his cronies are radicals with ties to terrorists and their organizations and it’s celebrated.

I bet those 20% got their security clearance and a promotion.

On another note Al Quaeda reported an increase on members and applicants with CIA links. They’re rethinking their application process now. (/sarc)

How’s about in the White House itself? Valerie Jarret? Anthony Weiner’s wife Huma, personal assistant to Hillary Clinton comes from a family whose males belong to the Muslim Brotherhood.

Then there’s former Major Hassan.

That actually cheered me up a bit. One of the CIA/State Department issues is getting some diversity. The upper middle class white kids I met overseas were way, way out of their league. Clueless would have been a step up. 🙁

So, any “evidence” provided concerning terrorists abroad should be suspect, right? Like who is responsible for the most recent, albeit rather small in the greater scheme of things, release of deadly gas in Syria??

Dang, if the clowns in charge tell us one more time about the horrors of it all and that it has been verified that it was deadly, I am gonna throw something at them or the TV or the dog or something! Is anyone questioning the fact that nerve gases et al kill people, even Syrians? What we want to see is something about who is responsible for releasing it this time. Is it the same or different from the last time??

1 in 5? Not so bad. Imagine if it was, oh, 20% of applicants. Then we would have reason for concern.

Common Sense

Everyone is getting this wrong. If you read the report, you’ll see that it’s 20% of FLAGGED applicants, i.e. those with an issue. It’s a small subset of all applicants, they don’t say how small.

So still a problem but not of the scope being reported.

TN

Not surprised a bit. And if there’s that many terrorists, imagine how many Nazi’s and Communists there are.

#6 AW1 Tim: Huma Abedin’s mother is a board member and leader of the MB’s authorized female supporters, the Muslim Sisterhood.

Which explains why Hillary is always two steps behind her counterparts in the Muslim countries.

I agree with Valerie in #3: through the consistent failure to create language capabilities among known loyal groups using the Defense Language and Foreign Service Institutes and universities, the Intelligence Community has to recruit from those who are (hopefully) 1 or more degrees of separation from the enemy.

Just an Old Dog

No surprise there. The CIA has to recruit locals in foreign countries to collect intel. Pretty low level stuff. The headline makes it sound like Langley is getting infiltrated. There’s a huge difference in who the CIA picks out of US Colleges to work and how they hit up the local goat-herders and taxi drivers in mid east crap holes.

Since the DCI is a Muslim, there are probably many that have gone unflagged.
