9/11 families discuss the case…

Coming to you from Gitmo again, and we had an interesting meeting last night with the families of some of the 9/11 victims that are down here watching the trial. My videographer, John Napolitano was kind enough to edit it this morning because I was so interested in one of the comments made by a father. He sums up EXACTLY how I feel about this trial. I know I sound frustrated with some of the stuff that goes down, but I also believe this trial is needed. If only to prove that no matter how others act, our country is a country of laws. We’ll get our vengeance, but we’ll get it after affording these guys certain legal protections.
Anyway, I love this quote:
We want these people to get a proper defense. We want these people to have the rights that our families were not given. Let them have the best defense that they can get…..and then lose.

Indeed, someone said that people have forgotten. I promise him and the other survivors, not a day goes by that I do not remember. In my car, I have a piece of RWB flag fabric. I bought it within an hour of the first report. I literally ripped it into pieces, and folded it. I placed it on my dashboard. Every. single. day. It’s with me.
That comment pretty well sums it up. And it demonstrates that a nation of laws will ALWAYS triumph over a nation of thugs or tyrants, even when they try to pervert the legal system.
I have not forgotten. I never will.
@1-4 My feelings are the same. I will never forget what happened that awful day. What makes me the proudest about being a retired Soldier is that my kids (ages 20 & 25) feel the same way. Having a daughter in law school saying she wants to eventually become an Army lawyer brings a tear to my eye.
