Homeowner Awakes to Noises, Shoots Alleged Intruder in Head

A Somerset Township, Pennsylvania, homeowner awoke to noises Monday morning and confronted then shot and killed an alleged intruder.CBS News reported that the incident occurred around 2 a.m.
A release from the Pennsylvania State Police indicated the homeowner awoke to sounds of “loud banging” as the alleged intruder attempted to break a window. He eventually succeeded in breaking the glass, at which point the homeowner announced that he was armed but the alleged intruder began making entry into the home anyway.
The homeowner shot the intruder in the head, killing him.
WJAC noted that the intruder’s “body was found by responding troopers near the back door.”
Police detained the homeowner until the preliminary investigation indicated he was acting in self-defense.

A question here. Does PA have a “duty to retreat” law or anything resembling a castle doctrine law?
Either way I sincerely hope the physical evidence corroborates the home owner’s story and that he didn’t do the stupid, move the body to make it fit his narrative.
Was going to mention a little of what you commented on. PD recovered the dead perp near the back door or was it inside the residence or just outside the rear door. Began making entry openong the door or opened door and walked in..And like you mentioned, the physical evidence will show what happened..
PA is a Stand Your Ground law state. Anywhere you have a legal right to be, you have no duty to retreat. They also have Castle Doctrine.
They do have “proportional force” strictures.
Don’t see how or why a random home owner victim would move or even consider moving a body. I imagine such things happen all the time in TV and movies but in real life that would be a real rarity. It would also lead a trail evidence a mile wide that even Roscoe Coltrane could follow.
